Well, I guess I should count my lucky stars that Les has a brain and is atheist. And he should count his, too, as his dinners, lovemaking, etc. would be nowhere near pleasurable if he wasn't intelligent, atheist, and equinanimous.
I don't know Anna... I've met plenty of atheists who treat their wives like crap, and religious men who hold them as equal partners. While it's obviously beneficial to have a partner who shares your views, I can't help but kind of bristle at the fact that you seem to attribute your good marriage to a belief system rather than to who Les is as a human being, total package.
Sorry, Karrie, I guess I could have been more specific.. In mentioning that Les is intelligent, atheist, and equinanimous, I thought it'd be accepted that he would be not overbearing and patriarchal, he'd be respectful, and considerate. He is. He's cute, too. lol

Les is cute. Cute means optically pleasing. That's besides being considerate, equananimous, atheist, intelligent, respectful, and not overbearing and patriarchal. I'm just not used to listing all his attributes. On top of all that he's bloody heavy and that's a big advantage to him in our wrestling matches. lol I can run waay faster though.
So, let me get this straight, men can't tell women what they should or shouldn't be...... but it's perfectly alright for you to do that.

countries, is what 'they' believe in too, 'brainwashed' from babies, don't know any
other way to live, consequently it will take hundreds and hundreds of years for
any visible change to happen.
That expression, 'putting women in their place'. Does that actually still exist?

All of the women I know, will 'not' be 'put in their place' by anyone, but will
exist on an equal basis with their partner, and will 'not' attempt to put them
in their place either, that behavior by both partners is a recipe for the failure
of the marriage/relationship.
I have two ex son-in-laws now, who are sitting around scratching their heads, and 'just' don't 'get it', but they both tried that behavior, 'bye bye charlie.!!!!
I didn't bring up my beautiful daughters, just to see them be mistreated by some
guy who was brought up to do, just that.
I do think that 'much' of the violence against women in this day and age, is because
the 'man of the house' (yeah right), cannot accept a woman who thinks for
herself, and makes decisions herself, and will not take orders, they want the
power, want to control, and will not accept any other way.
Please note the word 'much' above, so, I am not accusing all men of this behavior,
or letting all of the women off the hook, as being perfect partners.
