Love the heat so I drive everywhere in AC comfort. I keep the car running while I pop in to get my lotto tickies.

Gambling addict to boot! You do know they stack the cards against you with those lottery tickets, right?

I suspect more and more that Walter is actually a radical-left troll trying to give the right a bad name.

I recycle, I don't compost, I don't take public transit or ride a bike and I hope never to
have to. I farm and I do use irrigation responsibly, I use target pest sprays instead
of the harsh chemicals of yesteryear.
Doing something is fine but being chained to a vision of the future of sacrifice for
a leaf is not on my agenda. We are not in the Garden of Eden and we won't as long
as human kind exists. I am not against the environment but I don't subscribe to all
the nonsense that I have to eat organics, compost and live in a mud hut on the edge
of the world mentality either.
The sky is not falling, we are not all going to die a miserable death, that is unless they
legislate we have to ride bikes and eat roots, grubs and berries. See what a sense
of resistance some environmentalists have created? I do some but I am not going to
become a believer

I used to recycle, but they closed the dump.I have brought home, three ride on mowers, three snow blowers two gwnerators, and christ knows how many push mowers, all of them run after cleaning the carb,or in the case of some of the push mowers, replacing the starting cord.Oh yeah and six whipper snippers.
Now we have roadside pick up,what a waste.

lately, it would appear the current government has been slacking on the responsible use of our limited resources. I was wondering what people here at CC might be doing.

Do you cycle to work, telecommute, car-share, use public transit?

Do you eat more responsibly (from my understanding, animal husbandry takes up more arrable land, and fishing uses more petrol than a vegan-based diet)?

Have you installed solar panels at home, added insulation, do your own gardening to make your own land more productive?

Do you recycle, compost, etc.?

What are we doing here at CC?

I've tried to release as much methane as possible to keep our winters mild.;):p

Lots of cycling paths in Toronto. There are paved paths which basically skirt the Don Valley, so one can travel from the lakeshore and north up to about Lawrence, good 15-16km or so. Also paths along most of the lakeshore, Toronto is fairly bike friendly in my opinion.

I find the bike paths are great if:

1. You enjoy taking the most indirect route between A & B
2. You enjoy lots of other cyclists who are gabbing and not paying attention coming straight at you and taking the whole lane.
3. Enjoy the odd pedestrian that likes sauntering along same trails.

To answer the OP, I recycle even though this means I can't use Durka's magic chute. I take GO Train to and from work and use public transit where convenient. I figure if we use less, we are helping the environment in the long run although I do not buy this global warming 'theory'. I do need to use the car as I live in the suburbs and there are no subways close and now there won't be.

On an unrelated note, every now and then somebody leaves a running car in front of a lotto ticket store with A/C on full and I use that to haul cow manure for the garden. Don't want to get my car dirty.
