Bo treaty actually mentions modern plumbing, none. It's a business reading in so many obligations that so often are modern technology that didn't exist in centuries past. An extinguished treaty is a good treaty because no longer will tax dollars be endlessly gobbled up.

Five hundred years ago aboriginals had freedom? With no independent judiciary, no independent media, no political parties, such a kidder. Just because you have a league/council/soviet/junta, doesn't mean you have anything resembling democracy. I'm falling off my chair and laughing and rolling around. What fun!! Proof positive there's a sucker born every minurte!!!!

True, but they do mention care of, and needs.

And since the Crown deemed fit to claim the treaties living, when they began exploiting them for their benefit. The Courts awarded the First Nations, as equal partners to the contracts, the same privilege.

What part of that don't you understand?

It's a business reading in so many obligations that so often are modern technology that didn't exist in centuries past.
The Crown started the process.

An extinguished treaty is a good treaty because no longer will tax dollars be endlessly gobbled up.
You mean rent dollars.

If you're tired of paying your share of the rent, feel free to leave.

Five hundred years ago aboriginals had freedom?
Yes, actually they did.

With no independent judiciary, no independent media, no political parties, such a kidder.
Yes you are, if you think you need those bodies to be free.

Just because you have a league/council/soviet/junta, doesn't mean you have anything resembling democracy.
Except the longest running participatory one in history...

Just a bunch of left wing peasant bilge.
Really?

Even the US Senate and Congress acknowledged it...

Ha ha...beat ya.
Ya I saw that. Good post. Won't help, but good anyways.

If you've ever been to university and the prof mentions in a lecture about Greece being the first democracy. Women pipe up and say, "But women couldn't vote and they had slaves." So many women don't consider ancient Greece very democratic, not the best model, but a start. Greece had the first democracy, it's a Greek word and we still use the word today.

I never heard any academic discuss American aboriginal democracy, that's because it wasn't. Politicians don't you know will say anything. They didn't say it much afterwards, nor in Canada. Really, it's a good account to make aboriginals feel good, that's it. You need quite a few other sources to support the idea that American aboriginals had a democracy. Otherwise you are provincial, part of a small in-group who all easily agree.

Just a bunch of left wing peasant bilge. Fail.

Of all the different races of human I often wonder (with shame) if the white man (originally European) isn't the stupidest and I'm almost certain he's the greediest and one of the most arrogant.

I have lots of WORDS for things too but that no proof I practice them. They are like every other race, the Egyptians, the Romans, the Huns, the Vikings..................just a flash in the pan but really no more functional than a Dodo bird.

Asians like Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese are in the same "greedy" boat as their industrialization is overturning their old traditonal structures and people. It seems like just a white thang, but it ain't nowadays, that's why its call economic globalization, not Euro- globalization.

Correction, one of the first. Unless you know better than historical scholars. Not to mention the difference between Participatory and Athenian democracies.

And while women weren't allowed to vote in Europe, women were revered in Haudenausonee society, and were the defacto Senate. A millennium before you white folk even considered them equal.

I never heard any academic discuss American aboriginal democracy, that's because it wasn't.
I doubt you've ever listened to any academics.

Politicians don't you know will say anything.
I agree. And sometimes they get things right.

They didn't say it much afterwards, nor in Canada.
Didn't say what much afterwards? And canada doesn't have a Constitution based on my ancestors Constitution, like the States does.

You'd know that though, if you actually listened to an academic.

Really, it's a good account to make aboriginals feel good, that's it.
And of course it proves you wrong. Not to mention your wild diversion and dismissal, proving you are what you are, a bigot.
You need quite a few other sources to support the idea that American aboriginals had a democracy.
Only if your an ignorant bigot.
Otherwise you are provincial, part of a small in-group who all easily agree.
Phew, you aren't talking about me, because I don't always, nor do I easily agree.

I leave that to bobble heads and bigots. Of any colour.

Look, I understand your reluctance to admit that Natives beat you to the punch when it comes to democracy. It's only natural.

I'd feel the same way if I was so small, petty and bigoted as to believe another race was inferior. only to be proven wrong at every turn. Forced to eat fact after fact that ate away at my very core.

Some of us learn to grow as people, when confronted with facts that shake the very core of our beliefs.

The weak and ignorant hold on at all cost.

Can't fault the Chinaman, he had to pay a head tax to even get here and then he, his wife and 14 kids worked 16 hours a day at the most miserable jobs just to survive. You could be right about the Koreans and the Japs, my knowledge of them is a bit limited.

China, right now, doesn't give the slightest care about a head tax that used to exist. Ever notice how many immigrants China takes in?
They are not interested in the topic. They now have their eyes on the power prize and their neighbours are nervous.

The head tax only affects Canadians in Canada, it's our political football to play our white guilt games.

Right, Asians have found a winning formula that works for them and they are going for it. They don't care where it comes from, they just want to independent and powerful. They had to have a revolution(s) in ways we never experienced, as did European countries.

China plans draft immigration law

They took in just 6 Million shy of the entire population of Canada in 2007 alone.

"Took in" does not mean immigrants. Seems about 3 million are going to stay a while/

"According to the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration of the Ministry of Public Security, about 2.85 million or more than 10 percent of the 26.11 million foreigners who entered China in 2007 came for employment."

They are drafting an immigration policy because of tourists? Yeeeeeah ooooookay.

"According to the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration of the Ministry of Public Security"

Funny, it's not called the Bureau of Immigration. They do not want people who will automatically stay and become Chinese, but people who will enter the country and then exit later, just like the dept name says. China is not a country of immigrants and isn't ever going to allow 20 million people a year to immigrate and become Chinese.

Let's see 20 million people times ten years equals 200 million more people in China. Like duh, no.
