I'd say Vegas money is on re-tread Nostradamus programs, that'd be my guess, lol.

There are a couple of programs that I watch regularly but other than those I don't tend to watch a lot of tv. I do make use of the On-Demand features quite often for movies though.

I am so happy to be house-sitting right now as my friends have high-speed.....big Whoop! I have been catching up on all kinds of programs via the net........what a joy it is watching something of my own choice.

Must be something to do with my age, SLM as I find that so many movies today hold little if any interest for me....they also tend to have music that all but blots out dialogue........though the same can be said for music these days. When I play my old stuff.....Denver, Baez, Lightfoot, Cohen, etc.......I can understand every word.....not so with much of today's stuff.

There is a great deal to watch, you just have to broaden your horizons. There are history stories, scientific stuff, animal stories, and a host of other things available.

If you are watching "Martial Arts", it's because that's what YOU choose to watch.

I think i have about a 100 channels.. on a premium package from Shaw (i've never counted them).. with none of the Super Premium offerings like Super Channel, or Movie Central.. but i'm really not into a lot of the movies that come out these days.. which are inspired by video games and have a minimum of anything intellectually stimulating.

The Specialty Channels as well are skewed increasingly toward 'Reality Television' which is a total bore. I probably don't find more than an hour or so of really interesting and thought provoking television a day.. and most of those are not on the premium channels.. more likely of K, or PBS, one of the science, nature or news channels. Occaisionally some good sports shows up.

I watched.. the 12.12.12 Concert for Hurricane Sandy Relief last night... with a lot of great acts.. I enjoyed that, but television these days is pot luck.. you find a few gems in truck load of mediocrity.

I think Pink Floyd said it best decades ago: I have 300 channels of shyte on the TV to choose from.

or as The Boss sang:

So I bought a .44 magnum it was solid steel cast
And in the blessed name of elvis well I just let it blast
’til my tv lay in pieces there at my feet
And they busted me for disturbing the almighty peace
Judge said "what you got in your defense son? "
"fifty-seven channels and nothin’ on"

I can see by your eyes friend you’re just about gone
Fifty-seven channels and nothin’ on...

I listen to a little music, from time to time on my sattelite music channels, but I only like one or two of
those channels, and I cancelled all the movie channels in my package, there are still the odd one that I
do watch, but I agree with you about the movies.

We have lots of older movie dvd s, and lots of westerns, but we have gone off of those right now too,
as we have lots to do with our dog, have joined a retriever club, and also take him our on our own,
just a block from home, he keeps us busy, and we keep him busy.

right now we have 'how its made' on tv, very good show.

There are so many movies made for the special effects as the priority, might keep
a teenager or a kid interested, but for us they are boring, and don't have any depth to them other than what they can do with their special effects.

Agreed.

This is the main reason I never got cable. Though not having it helps financially too. I probably save $500/year give or take by not having it. Nothing of use. If it was possible to get HBO on its own I'd do it but sadly thats not in the cards.

Agreed. There are a fair number of movies I enjoyed in high school which I cant watch now as they're just boring. Its all special effects with no plot or complex characters. I imagine there wont be many movies from the last ten years or so that will stand the test of time in any category other than special effects.

We have the sh!t tier digital package (not even sure how many actual unique channels that totals but it doesn't really matter anyway). Apres work, M'Lady and I are quite happy having supper and watching an old episode of Big Bang Theory for redux laughs, then maybe some hand-holding time staring at an old Murder She Wrote or some Wipeout for cheap laffs.

They take up a fair share of my music. Ive seen all of them live except Denver. Leonard Cohen can put on a better show and do a better album at 78 than most who are now in their 20s and 30s.

I'm sure getting sick of the End-Of-The-World (formerly the History) Channel

Oh they changed? I havent watched anything on it in over 2 years. Back then it was the "World War Two Channel."

But that Angela Lansbury is just such a juicy hottie!!!

Yeah. She's got the girl in the Dorothy Sayers Mysteries beat all ta hel looks wise. And the show is much more realistic, too. Same for the girl in An Unsuitable Job For A Woman mysteries.

Oh guys!!!!
