Took me a minute but here ya go: United Nations: Civil Society Participation

Whether censorship is accepted by most people or not is irrelevant as to who originates it. Censorship is a product of nannyism. I think nannying people that don't really need nannying is stupid.

Yeah, that is part of the link I gave above, note that they have never actually attended a UN meeting and only have special status. I added the link to the end of a previous post, because I did not realize you had posted already and didn't want to double post. Sorry, if you did not notice it.

The problem with censorship is that it is all too easy to argue that people need nannying, the examples I give are all forms of censorship where they have done just that. If we already think that children need to be protected from images and video of nudity (forget pornography for the moment, lets assume we can distinguish) and that they need to be protected from images and video of violence, then it is less severe to assume that they need to be protected from something that is basically just libel and hate speech. Something that governments in general censor all of society from.

The fact that it is a classic is what causes people to think twice.

Not a worry. I miss a lot of stuff. lol

Yep. It's silly to keep people in bubbles. Even kids, as long as we use good judgement concerning kids.

I'd like to read what Vanni Fucci thinks.

Preposterous!

Divine Comedy is a beautifully written allegory for sin and redemption, and a little more sin, and a little less redemption (Beatrice being somewhat of a twat afterall)...and it has been argued that much of what Dante wrote about the afterlife was borrowed from contemporary Muslim scholars that were prevalent in Europe during that age...

Gherush92 should really get out of the censorship business, as the churchy folk enjoy a virtual monopoly on that enterprise...

. It should also be explained that the opinions
of one or two hundred years ago have changed over time its what evolving as a society is
all about. Put in context we get a better understanding of how human history has moved
along.

Explaining this to the kids would mean the teachers would have to do something though, other than repeat what they're told to teach from district manuals.
