The House Committee approved of impeachment procedure and he resigned rather than go through the formalities. But he was not forced out, he simply refused to fight the way Clinton did.
If Honduras was a true democracy, it would not have staged a coup. It could have allowed the vote to go on and if approved, amend its constitution. Otherwise, a new president could have been elected in six months.
Now let me ask you this: if a right winger had majority support and was toppled in a coup, how many of this forum's many right wingers would try to justify the coup?
Um, no it wouldn't. You can't vote away peoples rights.
No one said Zaleya couldn't usher in a new era of socalism. No one said the country couldn't be run by socialists for the next hundred years, or hell, all time.
It said Zaleya can run once, and then when he is done someone else in his party can run. How exactly is Zaleya gonna run the country if he is the only competant person in his entire political ideology in the country? Why exactly does he need to run over and over again? If he is the only person who run Honduras as a socialist nation what happens if he has a heart attack? Does socialism fade away in the country? IF the army had shot him would socialism have died because with him gone NO ONE in the country could run it as a socialism?
This isn't about socialism, its about dictatorship. Socialism decrees Zaleya should stand down and let other parts of the socialist leadership contribute. Socialism means all of Society contributes, not one man.
He's a dictator in training, the impeachment went so smooth because the socialists don't support him.
