Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., lost his right to speak on the House floor after he violated rules by putting on a hoodie and sunglasses in honor of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen shot last month.
"May God bless Trayvon Martin's soul, his family and -- [inaudible]" Rush said as he was removed from the House floor this morning for wearing a hoodie.

Rush was wearing a grey hoodie under his suit jacket. He took off his jacket, pulled the hood over his head and put on sunglasses while saying "racial profiling has to stop, Mr. Speaker. Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum," he said.

Here we go it is now going to be a debate centered around what people wear rather than
about a serious case of who was or was not responsible for the death of a person.
First I agree there is a dress code for being in the House fair enough, but that dress code
has changed over the last two hundred years, other wise peole would still be wearing false
wigs and high buckle shoes. The representatives would look like assorted versions of
Peter Pan for Gods sake.
I am listening and keeping an open mind about what happened to that kid,. It would seem to
me that if he were armed there would be a weapon on the body. The law in that State makes
it clear on the issue of self defence. Without a weapon though it would seem a little harsh to
shoot someone unarmed even if there was a struggle. That is not clear how that might have
started either. The other problem I have is that, we have neighbourhood watch people out
there running around with guns and that is not a good idea at the best of time. In some cases
police with guns is not a good idea if you know what I mean.
For me there is still to much of the story to be told to make a determination on what happened
and who is or is not guilty of whatever.

What difference does it make what you wear? Its the words that count.

I understand having a dress code, but if this person was wearing a suit with a tie under his hoodie, then technically he met the dress code.

What if he was wearing a pure white hoodie? Do you think that sends as strong a message as the words he would speak?

Depends on how the dress code is worded.

So, the republican speaker of the house shows favoritism and a double standard towards the democrats? Is that right?

Well Gerry... he was removed for the hoodie and not the speech.

Add a big check in your DUH Column.

He was removed for the hoodie because the speaker cited him for that BEFORE he started preaching.....so, you are stating that the republican speaker of the house favours democrats...correct?

Add another check to you "DUH" Column Gerry.

Would you like to continue making idiotic statements?

I never said it was right, but if you have a good resume, people will let you get away with a wrongful action here and there.

Or if there is a double standard in place... which there is.

I'll let you continue to make the idiotic statements... either you didn't watch AND listen to the video or your comprehension skills are non existent. The gavel dropped for the first time at 26 seconds into the video. The democratic rep didn't mention God until after the 30 sec mark.

OR in the vast space between your ears you are failing to follow along and are once again lost in your knee jerk idiocy.

At any rate, please continue to add irrelevant dumb azz posts as you see fit.

US politicians should not be allowed to talk in the House if they are wearing a hoodie. Men should have to dress in shirts with collars, overcoats, britches, shoes with buckles and long hair tied off in a pony tail. Women should have to wear petticoats and bonnets. Anything else would look ridiculous.
