Yes. Quebec has enough politicians to fight for what they want. The western Provinces have not. Western Provinces only have a few backbencher who have no clout at all.
Maybe larger ridings in Quebec and Ontario, smaller ridings in the less populated Provinces would help level the playing field.
There were 12 Cabinet Ministers from Western Canada, including Harper, in the last Parliament.
Yep, and they were so sure that rural prairie people will vote Conservative regardless of the issues and the people involved that they don't think they have to take western issues seriously. And alas, they're right. Even a dimwit like Gerry Ritz can win a mostly rural seat, as long as he's a Conservative.
So it's ok for these guys to have a party but not Alberta. Time will come when the east will need the west to stand up.

You know if Justin Trudeau tries to take control of the Alberta Oil Sands for the Federal Government and the benefit of Eastern Canada "Quebec" I would suspect Alberta Seperate and probably even garner the support of the USA.
Natural resources are the jurisdiction of the Provinces.. Trudeau would have to rewrite the Charter to get that done.

Seems to me that a one-party state shouldn't be called a republic. Better name might be Das Vierte Reich.
