Good day Juan, I got the telescope for $100 at the end now I feel better and surprised how low the price has become for the MEADE EXT60AT.
Many thanks for your link regarding the price.
Now I got to concentrate in getting all the appropriate lenses for deep space.
It sure is a fun clean and very enigmatic hoby.

Socrates,

A two and a half inch telescope is not a deep space telescope. At best you will be able to look at the moon and some of the planets in our solar system. You say you have to get the appropriate deep space lenses. I assume you mean the eyepieces. Did your telescope come with eyepieces and right ascension and declination motor drives? The Meade EXT60AT is a very basic, entry level telescope, and I hope it's limitations won't drive you away from astronomy.

Good day Juan, yes the eye pieces it came with a 25mm and a 9mm, you are correct this is an entry level telescope, it is however providing that beginners enthusiasm by even looking at the moon, I will eventually and soon upgrade to the real thing like something like this picture below. But for sure I will be spending time on the subject in the years to come.

Meade LightBridge 12 in. Deluxe (600 x 304.8mm) Telescope

Price Range $899-$899Optical Design: Newtonians, Optical Diameter: 304.8 mm, Finderscope type: Red-Dot, Focal Length: 1524 mm, Max Useful Magnificatio (more...)

Good day to you Diarylgirl, I am enjoying every new piece of information I come across; it is a good time in our today period to adopt astronomy as a hobby. With all the information available to us it sure makes it awesome to spend time drinking wine and looking through the telescope. Enjoy..........

Socrates,,,Did you know that that telescope is a simple Dobsonian with no way to add a motor drive and no way to do any kind tracking or any kind of astrophotography?

Good day to you Juan, this is what I love about you and Dexter; you are always willing to help a fellow forum participant. I am glad you brought that to my attention Juan, that is very limiting if one can’t do the things you are mentioning. I am taking all this info and putting it to good use many thanks.

How do you know? Let me guess. You can do the math. In the world of bleak bottomless selective skepticism you are in a class beyond merely obcessive.
I find my skepticism quite useful, thank you, but it's nice to see your usual ad hominem fallacy again. At least you're consistent.

Yes I can do the math, but you don't need the math to discount what Edgar Mitchell's claiming. He's been promoting nonsense for years, starting I think with his "discovery" and endorsement of Uri Geller, which he's never retracted despite Geller being a proven fake. He claims he was supernaturally healed of renal cancer remotely by a kid in Vancouver calling himself Adam Dreamhealer, though he never was diagnosed with renal cancer in the first place. He's still claiming the Roswell Incident involved a real crashed alien spaceship, despite it being thoroughly explained many times since the records were declassified. He's not playing with a full deck. You might usefully try examining your own credulity a bit.

Socrates, Meade has a 5 inch f14 schmidt Cass with the autostar feature that is about the same price as the Dobsonian you mentioned. It would have about four times the light gathering of your two and a half inch.

Good day Dexter, I did too find some skepticism in Edgar Mitchell's statements and flying saucer propaganda. Although the thirst is high for extraterrestrial discovery here on earth, one thing we know is that life as we know it on earth could have a duplicate copy many many millions of light years away.

The unanswered question remains how many times and how long ego was the first ever visit by an extraterrestrial entity on planet earth.

Edgar Mitchell’s statement that his healing from cancer was attributed to a supernatural phenomenon when in fact he did not have cancer makes him one brick short of a brick load, or like you said ”not playing with a full deck of cards”.

Thanks Juan I will be gathering all my info and this scopes and I will end up with the most light gathering as well the highest MM possible for my budget, for deep observation, correct?
Anyway I will be posting all the finds on telescopes and I will respect the guidance. Many Thanks Juan............

Got that off a skeptics site didn't you. My credulity! A suggestion like that from a believer in the official 9/11 myth is uncommonly hilarious.
