Curiosity over Canada's next PM ripples across the globe

WASHINGTON -- A rare phenomenon is transpiring in a foreign capital where mentioning Canadian politics is generally about as likely to stimulate conversation at a dinner party as to get you disinvited from the next one.

People are curious about Canada's next prime minister.

It's evident on multiple fronts in Washington -- from conversations in cabs and coffee shops, in government offices and think-tanks, in media stories, and from foreign politicians looking to learn about Justin Trudeau.

Columns in the Guardian and New York Times mentioned the deficit spending.

In a piece titled, "Keynes Comes to Canada," Paul Krugman wrote that, "Canada has surprisingly often been the place where the future happens first. And it's happening again... (Trudeau) has an opportunity to show the world what truly responsible fiscal policy looks like." The Guardian's William Keegan wrote a piece titled, "Cameron falters but Canada understands: we need Keynes."

Some economists will grumble with the accuracy of the analysis -- arguing that Conservatives in Canada clearly practiced Keynesian economics, by drastically expanding spending during the 2009 recession and then withdrawing it as the economy returned to safer ground.

But he said populists generally lost throughout American history to rivals who embraced open trade, free markets, cultural diversity and regulated capitalism.

Zakaria quoted a line from Trudeau's victory speech: "One could imagine FDR in the depths of the Depression, cocking his head up, with his cigarette-holder jutting skyward, saying,

'Sunny ways, my friends, sunny ways.'

All hail the Sunshine Superman; he will fix everything. We will all be blissfully enjoying not having to work for our livings, enjoying sun's rays every day, there will be no income gaps, no gender inequality, the debt will be gone, the budget balanced, the homeless sheltered and fed, we can babysit Syrian refugees, the CBC will make its own money, and I won't have to fold laundry and wash floors any more.

Notice that the Queen has turned her back to buddy.

Mot a flattering picture at all

Apparently Pierre waited until the Queen had turned around before his little spin.

"Years later James Coutts, one of Trudeau’s aides, noted that far from being spontaneous, the pirouette, like many other attention-getting gestures, had been planned and even rehearsed by the prime minister: “He planned it hours before because he strongly opposed the palace protocol that separated heads of state from heads of government. The well-rehearsed pirouette was a way of showing his objection without saying a word.”

A typical 'up yours' by PET.

He should have had the balls to show his objection to the Queen's face in a respectful way. Acting behind her back was cowardly and didn't win him a lot of points as a gentleman. But then, he never professed to be a gentleman, did he? He was arrogant, overbearing and disdainful of the 'common' people.

Canada's Queen Elizabeth II meets her 12th Prime Minister:

Feeling chilly, Ma'am! Queen meets the Canadian Prime Minister at Buckingham Palace - but warms up the room with a two-bar ELECTRIC fire first

Her Majesty, 89, assured Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 43, of a warm welcome by placing an everyday plug-in heater in the opulent surround of her fireplace (left). It is the liberal leader's first trip to meet The Queen since winning the election and after a decade of Conservative rule. His father, legendary Canadian PM Pierre Trudeau, met the monarch many times over his 15 years in power.

Unlike his father, with whom i had some sincere differences... Justin does not have an exceptional intellect, or a natural charisma.

He's really rather ordinary.. and in complete pall of the graven idols of our day... AGW, feminism, homosexual affirmation, free market economics, multiculturalism. All of these things will fail, most profoundly. I think the world's curiosity of will dissolve once they see how utterly unexceptional and unoriginal he really is.

There is no vision with Justin, no hard sense of Canadian culture, structure, its history or its future... just a slack mushiness and drift driven by polls.

Aside, did I imagine it or were some of the media on last night's news broadcasts making snide remarks about Trudeau's love of photo ops? I got the impression that some of them thought he was just going a mite too far.

Looks like the media party is having a morning after hangover from all that Trudeau koolaid they've been drinking for the last several months.
Just wondering how long it's gonna take the Trudeau Fluffers in this forum to get it....
Well, a true alcoholic just keeps drinking to get rid of the hangover...
So maybe that's what they are.....
