Walter I am talking about the private healthcare in America.

I remember watching a 60Minute news story on the American private health insurance where they were getting 60% discounts from hospitals while the person off the street had to pay full price and those companies never passed it on to their policy holders just increased their fees if they had to go to the hospital and cancelling their coverage if they went too many times.

If there are government regulations this only means that they tried to make the healthcare industry more honest and fair.
The healthcare industry is still gouging ordinary people and the only way to protect the people have government involved in the process and healthcare would lower their cost because the government would know the whole story.
Everyone knows that 60 Minutes is completely unbiased. The quickest way for the Americans to reduce their health care expenses is to allow cross state border shopping for health ins. Right now you must buy ins. from a provider within your state. The ins. cos. love this.

And how much of our resources have been sold off to foreign interests?
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. 5 of the top 10 gold producing companies are Canadian owned and they dig up their gold all over the world, not just in Canada.

They have the best health care in the world. The main reason their prices are higher per capita than ours is because of guvmint regs.
Last time I looked, America ranked 37th. in the rating of world Health systems. Lower than some Third World countries.

First in cost.

All private insurance companies are the same where they will gouge the policyholder just because there are no checks and balances for them.

The government healthcare keeps the private healthcare companies more honest and the dishonest ones will close up shop and move somewhere else.

You go right ahead and get treated in these 3rd world countries listed ahead of the US.

Wow! You actually believe this?

Tax shelters aren't 'provided', they are a byproduct of a tax system that is motivating high income earners to find a way to mitigate the high costs without leaving the jurisdiction.

The standard of living is not a result of the tax system, but of the degree and level of commerce that exists in the nation. Taxation is a byproduct of commercial activity and is levied in order to provide the services, systems and infrastructure needed by all to operate and survive.

As I mentioned on this forum a long time ago, I worked for the IRS's tax shelter unit and know all about what these things stand for. They are not "by products" but (in theory) are supposed to work as incentives for wealthy elites to invest in businesses or other ventures. Again, in theory, this is said to work to spur the economy and create jobs. However, the record clearly shows this has not worked in such a manner, for the most part. In my many years in the tax field I saw it work only once - that was in Chattanooga, TN where a partnership bought an old building, were going to raze it, and build a parking lot that would only have created a small handful of jobs. Luckily, just before they were about to implode the building, they found priceless stained glass in an unused vault. They sold some of the glass and immediately recovered their investment, created a luxury style restaurant, and created many jobs as a consequence. Well, that's the way it should work. Instead, the wealthy elites use shelters to invest in tax free accounts in the Caymans or in Switzerland. Who benefits? Only the wealthy thanks to this type of corporate welfare. The more corporate welfare we have, the less money is in the economy, and it results in a declined economy. Further proof that lower taxes and corporate welfare does not work for society's benefit.

By contrast, as in the Scandinavian example, increase taxes and as people buy products and services, the use taxes finance trolleys, transportation, universal health care, and finance infrastructure improvement. Further proof that higher taxes improve society.

You are wasting your time trying to explain the facts of healthcare to Walter. His post shows that as usual he is completely out of touch with reality. How about asking him to prove his point? Don't worry, he won't be able to; he never has yet in the hundreds of posts he has made since I joined CC.
