Really? Other than Harper and a slough of Dippers, how many leaders have been from the center of the universe in the last 40 years?

From Ontario? PMs. - maybe Turner- I don't remember where he was from. As for the rest - Trudeau - Quebec, Clark - Quebec, Turner??, Mulroney - Quebec, Campbell - BC, Chretien - Quebec, Martin - Quebec, Harper - Alberta. Party Leaders? Iggy (and IIRC - there was a lot of complaining that he was a "Toronto" boy)? Possibly Broadbent or McDonnough (I don't remember where they are from)... Seems like the West has had 2 PMs to Ontario's 1 (in the last 40 years)
As you guys slag me for my generalization, I notice no one is challenging Wulfie on his point - which was the reverse of mine. Let me ask, how many leaders have been from the West? 2 PMs - Harper (who may or may not be from the West - depends on what serves him best that day) and Kim Campbell (who was rejected by everyone - not jsut Ontario) and 2 party leaders - Preston and Stockwell - who lead parties that split the right vote. Did I miss any? I think making the generalization that Ontario-ans won't support a western leader is just as off base as my generalization.
Just having some fun. I voted for harper last time. Totally missed Wolfies post.

Not including Reform and other parties that had no hope of being elected, 3 in the last 40 years. Clark, Turner and Campbell serve a total of 45 minutes between them. This allowed the PMs from Kweebeck to have a coffee and a potty break. The one Ontarian (Steven Harper) surpassed Alberta's record during his first nights sleep at 24 Sussex.
I think you should just quit generalizing about the generalizations regarding your general generalizing.

Seriously though - the majority of leaders have been from Quebec. I agree a change is needed, and don't care where the leader of the party is from - so long as he's not an incompetent boob. When someone like that shows up, let me know - cause I don't see anyone that fits the bill at the moment. (Kenney included)

I'm with Pegger, except for the bit about parties. Party poopers, er people, I mean spend more time trying to make their party happy than Canadians. They also spend more time dissing the other guy's party than they do pleasing Canadians. Ottawa's a ship of fools doing a circle jerk.
I went to school with him in Saskatoon when he was a member of the Liberal Party. I knew a lot of the Young Liberals at the UofS, including David Herle, but I didn't really know him. Kenney ran for President of the national young Liberals, if I recall correctly. The Tories thought very highly of him. I remember Eric Bernstein trying to heavily recruit him. He said he'd never join the Tories. Then he joined the Reform Party. He had a reputation of being smart and ambitious.
