The world continues to move left.

Albanese elected Australia's leader in complex poll result

Australians awoke on Sunday to a new prime minister in Anthony Albanese, the centre-left Labor Party leader whose ascension to the nation's top job from being raised in social housing by a single mother on a disability pension was said to reflect the country's changed fabric.

The 59-year-old career politician, who has described himself as the only candidate with a "non-Anglo Celtic name" to run for prime minister in the 121 years the office has existed, referred to his humble upbringing in the inner-Sydney suburb of Camperdown while thanking electors for making him the country's 31st leader.

Well, at least Albanese can differentiate himself from his opponents with his claim that his name is the only one that was on the ballot that was a “non-Anglo Celtic” name. Meh…

So seriously, I’m assuming you’re posting this as a back door looking for a reaction from Canadians about Canada and its political compass tipping off to the left (?) and you were waiting for somebody to make the comparison for you? If so I’ll oblige.

The frenzied hostility of much of the media to Poilievre has nothing to do with any humanitarian shortcomings they may profess to perceive; it reflects the fact that he is, if elected party leader, quite likely to move both his party and the country appreciably towards the centre of the political spectrum, or even slightly to the right of centre.

He likes posting stuff that makes his Lieberal viewpoint seem valid. If the news went the other way like it likely is going to be in Ontario in a couple weeks .... wait for it .... he will be largely silent.

What leads you to believe that? I have found Mr. Poilievre to be conspicuously short on actual policy suggestions, and the issues that he is using to froth up his supporters are more designed to stoking the populist fires than actually producing positive change. He is just a politician, and a rather shallow one at that.

You have been watching too much CBC. His main policy is to undo the damage turdOWE has done to our country. SO, simple things like defund CBC, stop illegal immigrants from entering the country. Stop sending money to corrupt organizations. Eliminate the carbon scam tax. Get tough on criminals instead of honest tax paying gun owners. Simple things that are good for everyone.

You think Poilievre is shallow? Have you been paying ANY attention to your current PM for the last 6 years? You know what shallow is? Shallow is crowing to the world about how you appointed Canada's first female AND first Aboriginal Justice Minister in one swoop and then firing her for having morals. Oh, and then after crowing about what a feminist you are, you check off every box on the toxic masculinity list to attack said former Minister of Justice.
If you wanna talk shallow, Trudeau has all the political, moral and intellectual depth of piss on a plate. Everyone who opposes him is a "racist, misogynistic White supremacist.

Nonsense. That's not shallow, that's hypocritical and corrupt.

Shallow is invoking the Emergencies Act to deal with a minor, peaceable protest.

Albanese is Italian for “Albanian” (Google)

You know where the government steals from Peter to pay Paul with the built in kickback to the Liberal Party of Canada and the Trudeau Foundation all the while pushing massive deficits down the road . That one .

Are you trying to bring up ethics violations & potential fraud charges regarding sitting Canadian MP’s? Is that where you’re going? Something bordering on a conflict of interest?

Careful or You might be silenced for spreading disinformation like WE or Aga Kahn or SNC Lavalamp or Admiral Mark Norman or….etc….

Wait, is this what you were referring to so vaguely without any follow up or explanation?

This week has been a particularly busy one for those with Pierre Poilievre derangement syndrome. At this point, almost anything the prospective Conservative leader says or does becomes a flash point for outrage, much of it reactionary and irrational.

One of the latest so-called scandals is that Poilievre, who promotes normalizing cryptocurrencies and wants to make Canada the “blockchain and crypto capital of the world,” actually owns bitcoin himself. CTV decided this was newsworthy enough for a story, which also led to a barrage of criticism on Twitter. The implication is that Poilievre’s views on crypto are some sort of devious scheme to boost bitcoin prices and rake in the riches.

Is this it? Is this what you were alluding to?

The absurdity of this should be immediately apparent, but the thing about derangement syndrome is that it blinds one to obvious ridiculousness, and favours screaming into the social media void. The rest at the above LINK.
