The concept of 1 man and 1 woman and no extra-marital sex is a modern one born out of romanticism.

No, not really.

It has more to do with biology and increasing status of women in society through time.

Multiple sex partners for men was primarily for rich men, not most others, because they could afford more wives

Biologically, a female who keeps a mate monogamous is more likely to ensure that her mate will look after her offspring. If a man is sleeping with other women, there is a greater chance the man will leave and abandon her with her children. In the past, society was structured so that a rich man could keep many women, and women were generally fine with that since the man's wealth would look after her offspring. As females have attained for status in society, there is less reason for women to accept this relationship.

In Bhutan or Nepal, I can't remember which, there is a tribe were polyandry - one wife, multiple husbands - is the norm, because resources are so scarce, it takes two or more men to sustain a family household.

Society adapts around biology.

Precocious puberty and early onset obesity are increasingly present on our streets. Looks like they're determined to be the new normal. If we are remaking the biological model for human life, could be some troubling policy and societal shifts down the road.

With this in mind and what West acts like also in mind, you scare me about the future of humans.

I was told on EWTN we are in a religious war, and we must push our values onto others so we can rein supreme over evil (atheists)

Pushing values onto others, that's prety evil in my opinion, or perhaps all the extremist sociopaths of Christianity and Islam are on the right track....

Don't insult our power.

In the USA we have stopped Same-Sex-Marriage in its track, by going out in droves protesting it and voting it down every time.

We are well on the way of illegalizing abortion in South Dakota, and have plans to slowly get this happening in other conservative, Republican states.

Yeah, and after that we are going to lobby to have homosexuals stoned to death! And let's take away women's rights too! Screw it, let's all just pack up and move to Saudi Arabia.

As soon as you talk about 'pushing' anything on anyone, you immediately push them away,
just as you do on this forum, can't you grasp that fact!!!!!

i think the reason the goverment doesnt allow gay marrige many between men is becuase the goverment is made for heterosexual people and when you get married the man is the one to get the more money between the two (not too sure) and if there is gay marraige they would have a larger income then the rest of heterosexual people. im not too sure about this but it was worth putting up for a debate.

westmanguy...how come you don't fight laws that allow people to become wealthy. Its very clearly stated that that is just as bad as homosexuality.

In fact, according to the bible, its worse than abortion, which does state a fetus is not a person with a soul, and thus it is wrong to mourn it. If it has no soul (according to the bible) then it is not murder to kill it, anymore than it is murder to kill an animal.

Therefore, the bible never says abortion is wrong (abortion is an ancient practice, if it was wrong, they would mention it was wrong). It does say homosexuality is wrong, but it says being wealthy is even worse.

I have yet to see the Christian right oppose people holding wealth. In fact, they generate quite a bit of it.

They just cherry pick the parts the like of the bible, if it lets them hate others it stays..if they have to sacrifice..it goes.
