Canada's federal environment minister’s decision not to represent the country at The Climate Summit of the Americas this week in Toronto raised the question: how did she spend her time instead?

It was just an Al Gore lovefest. Another chance for our Dear Leader to get he mug on a photo shoot and actually pretend she is doing something other than spending Ontario to the grave. It was so much a sham that even the environmentalists were protesting it and there was not 1 thread by MentalFloss on the subject. Without this thread dissing a Conservative, there would have been zero threads.

It was interesting to hear Al Gore say 'well it isn't as bad as I had told you previously' (not direct quote). I guess all the carbon credits that have built him his mansion have improved the forecast for the environment.

Had this been a summit on dealing with the Ukraine situation Canada would've been there. Had this been a summit on dealing with Islamic extremism in the Americas Canada would've been there. Had this been a summit on lower middle class francophone gay scouts who like soccer and cross dressing Canada would've been there.

Because the Ontario government organised this in part due to the Pan-Am games and in part to score partisan political points the Fed have elected to snub their nose if the article is true. They should've however sent a representative of some form even at a junior level to point out clearly that provinces have zero business organising international summits period and should stick to their jurisdiction.
