No I did not. 8O What is the diference? A diferent breed? Like Blue Grouse, Franklin grouse? Type of thing?

Weren't chickadees imported originally? I believe they are not native to mainland or Campbells Island?

Also those chickadees are very clever 8O cute lil feckers tho 8) After you hang out with them for a while, and of course watch and listen :p You can start to understand their twittering and what they are saying. 8O Like when they are claiming terriority or just telling the other chicks and dees where they are and how it going :p

I never thought of that pinecone idea. Sounds like a good idea.

Bevvyd- You have a farm or hobby farm?

Hobby farm, just under 3 acres.

[/quote]Did you know the chickadees over here on the island are not the same as the chickadees you got over on the second place mainland

Pea, um what did you mean by second place mainland?

And aren't all french fry eating chickadees the same?

Black-capped Chickadee: Northern states and southern Canada from coast to coast. (these are found on lower mainland)

Mountain Chickadee: Throughout the mountains of the West.

Chestnut-backed Chickadee: Mostly the West Coast from central California to southern Alaska. (These are the ones on the island)

Boreal Chickadee: Mostly in Canada from coast to coast and in Alaska.

I love watching all the little birds, and big ones too. The eagles nest around here and they are such a magnificent bird to watch. And just last year we found a snowy owl in our back yard, it was huge, it had to have been about 3' high and who knows how much it weighed, absolutely amazing animal.

Ya, catching a flick at the bird feeder is always fun 8) The lil nuthatch cracks me up. :p I am telling you, what a character. First off he has a blue jacket and and pink breast, hehehehhe. I have never seen a nuthatch go up a tree, they approached everything down hill 8O If you have binocks, you can watch him smash a sunflower seed back and forth, againist the tree bark, trying to open it up. It always one seed, than back for another. Its always the same, one seed, than another, back and forth, upside down, twittering a strange "meep meep" the whole time   8)

We have a few of just about every west coast bird this morning. Chickadees, Junkos, Nuthatches, Towhees, Siskins, and we even had a couple of Northern Flickers struggling with our little suet feeders that are too small for them. It's great to just watch and see the different personalities of the different birds.

Cold cold and feckin cold out this morning. My hands went blue when I went out and was only outside for 3 hours. man oh man. What the hell is going on?
On of my friends workers called in sick so I went an helped him take down forms for 3 hours. But at least I got a free lunch and 60 bucks for my effort.

I went out for a walk in the snow today. ( It wasn't sticking, but maybe tonight it will...) It was funny...to watch people of all ages trying to catch falling flakes. Just like the Charlie Brown Xmas special. There was a festive feel to the air. Gloves #1 ...gloves. :bigsmurf: :reindeer: :p

Just got in from doggie walk... and although not snowing at the moment......the residual snow makes for a mighty cold day. Brrrr.

*seems I gotta learn how to dress for this weather too...as what I had on was not warm enough.
