Reverend blair....Please try not to make it personal.

When he insults everybody who has belonged to a union in the last 25 years, it's already personal, Peapod.

I'll ignore the little ***epithet self-censored  *** for the rest of the night though.

Well thats ok Rev. they are still lazy in my opinion anyway, not to mention sheepel. Funny how their leaders keep getting elected over and over and over again by a whopping 90%+ each time eh? They should run for government if they are that good.

I think not said:
I can't see why it is Manda. CN Rail just bought BC Rail, how do you expect a company to maintain and fix decades of apparent neglect in less than a year. Plus that rail was inspected 3 months ago. So explain how CN Rail should be accused of criminal negligence.

Interesting, I have read and heard some of this. Why do some of you want to assign blame for accidents? Accidents are, by their very nature, unexpected and unpredictable. Any time there is human involvement, there is a potential of mistakes, humans are mistake prone. I agree with I Think Not, if his information is correct, that if CN just bought the railbeds, then to expect them to fully inspect all of them within a year is unreasonable.

Are the derailments a tragedy, both environmentally, economically, and socially? Yes, of course. But instead of looking to blame someone, or some thing, can we not wait until all the facts are out and then put a plan into place to ensure, as much as possible, that this type of accident does not happen again?

That's just it. Somebody brought up the Air France crash earlier in this thread, saying that it was "just an accident." They completely ignored that there is an investigation looking for causes and such investigations have never been shy about laying blame.

I see another derailment today, near Jasper , one yesterday in Edmonton (walker yard), That makes seven for August. I think CN has some maintenance issues. No links up just yet on todays derailment, just heard it on radio.
