That is the critical element that is missing - the scientific consensus that man is causing this terrible warming.

In the absence of that cuasation, it's nothing more than ringing the alarm bells that the tide is rising (in the morning).... No, no, wait a sec, the tide is falling (in the evening)

That....& an agreed upon definition of what a 'climate scientist' actually is, as that
seems to be an ongoing bone of contention in this debate. Someone who "is" a
'climate scientist' in one debate, can later fall into the "isn't" category if they
change their opinion on something...without their education or experience
in their field changing. I'm thinking of Timothy Ball at this point. First he is
one....then he isn't one.

Really? The coldest we've had it around here was -6 (for one night) and the most snow so far has been about 20cm. This is a area that usually gets snow that stays in November, and is 1+ meters by now as well as temps for this time of year around -10.
Was chatting with some people from AB the other day, and the weather has been pretty mild in comparison to most years.
As usual, you seem to be missing some facts. Probably should stick to commenting about the few local areas that are getting buffetted by winter and never mind commenting about North Am in general.

Trident gives them free gum to give away They don't really recommend Trident but the highly suggest (see footnote1) chewing gum and on your way out, they whip out the big TRIDENT basket and let you grab a couple. I just score a box of WHITE wintergreen last Tuesday.

Last time I looked, the Germans were only saving 15% from solar.

One hailstorm will get you back on the grid and nat gas in the course of one afternoon.

When you factor in the materials used in solar panels, and their manufacture &
shipping, and eventual decommisioning....are they really 'green' in a 'good for
the environment' sort'a way?

Also makes you wonder what happens to all of the batteries in the 'lectric cars once they have been used to the point of land filling.

One can use recycled materials. Lots of places on the net post instructions. Kinda cool if you like diy projects.

You ever been on the wet coast? We have solar panels. And a windmill. Can mostly keep the electric bike charged and batteries for the electric outboard. If no branches go through a panel, or one quits on its own and we don't have to replace the batteries again the system might break even by 2025.

All the batteries we collect go to the manufacturer in Alberta as cores. We can pay $5.00 most of the time for car batteries and still make a profit.

Lets talk climate change for a moment What is climate change and when did it start?
The earth has undergone climate chain slowly and sometime very quickly depending
on events in the universe. We could all do nothing and live off the land without a single
foot print and still there would be climate change. I fully understand that we humans
contribute to it and we will just by breathing if nothing else.
If we all took to living in caves and went back to hunting wild animals there would be a
full measure of climate change. We would kill and eat all the animals and in so doing we
would starve to death. If we all became vegetarians the animals would grow in such
numbers climate change would be fuelled even more if the enviro crowd is right.
If we age only plants such as vegetables, there would be a group come forward to advocate
for the rights of tomatoes and radishes. No that is no more silly than the propaganda being
spread about our current situation.
I believe there is climate change and most of it is natural and what we are doing is minimal to
the dictates of nature. Here is an example, we could save the planet putting a best foot
forward for clean air. In two days a forest fire in BC would wipe out our man made gains for
a decade.
If the truth be told I can't wait for the finicky people to find the next great cause. You know we
saved the whales, the spotted owls and little pieces of the old growth forests and other things.
Then came this fad the environment itself. If they had their way we would all be going round in
sack cloth and ashes, living off wild berries in the woods. Soon they will move on to something
anything and I can drive my V8 truck up and down the road in peace as long as I can afford the
gas. I sure hope I never become cynical.

Well, one can ignore the effects of our activities, but I think it's silly. We have disrupted other cycles of nature so I can't see this being any different. That's not saying that nature can't adjust, either. We sh|t in our own coop, we have to live with it.

The environmental movement is another religion devoid of reason anymore, we cause
some problems yes but its not the major cause of change the changes occurs whether
we do anything or not.
