Here is finally some justice for the former Liberal PM Mr Chretien and Mr Pelletier.

Mr. Chrétien and Mr. Pelletier went to Federal Court for a review of Mr. Gomery's findings, even though Mr. Gomery ruled they had no knowledge of illegal activity or direct responsibility in cash payments to Liberal organizers.
Justice Teitelbaum offered a scathing assessment of Mr. Gomery's conduct as the head of a public inquiry.
He said Mr. Gomery could not be expected to abide by the same rules of conduct that apply to a judge in a courtroom. But even applying a more relaxed standard, he said, Mr. Gomery failed in his essential duty to ensure that a reasonable person would find the proceedings to be fair and impartial.
“The nature of the comments made to the media are such that no reasonable person looking realistically and practically at the issue, and thinking the matter through, could possibly conclude that the commissioner would decide the issues fairly,” Justice Teitelbaum said.
He blasted Mr. Gomery's apparent obsession with the media.
“The media is not an appropriate forum in which a decision-maker is to become engaged while presiding over a commission of inquiry, a trial, or any other type of hearing or proceeding,” Justice Teitelbaum said.
“Comments revealing impressions and conclusions related to the proceedings should not be made extraneous to the proceedings either prior, concurrently or even after the proceedings have concluded.”

If there were justice, Mr. Jean "the Don" Chretien and Mr. Pelletier would both be serving long prison terms.

Colpy good thing you are not a judge, and I really hope you never have to serve as a juror. Your bias would send innocent men behind bars. It will take one hundred Harpers to make one Chretien. So what are you talking about? When Chretien stepped down the
Liberals were in good shape, when Mulroney left his post the Conservative party was reduced to ruble. What is that tell you?

I would agree that it would take 100 Harpers to match Chretien's corruption and misuse of power...........

No...... Chretien double-crossed Martin repeatedly, refusing to leave until the party was torn apart with infighting, then abandoned ship as the police came up the gangplank, leaving Martin holding the sponsorship bag........

Jean is Absolute scum.

Mulroney is as well.

Man are you ever disillusioned. Chretien was the biggest thief who ever serves as PM. The Liberal party was in shambles when he left, unfortunately for Martin. Fortunately for Canada the Conservatives, under Harper, wrestled the power from them.
The only reason he is not in jail now is because of his cronies who control the federal court.

Martin was never implicated and although there was some hard feelings between the two men, and now that Chretien was exonerated should Chretien come back to run for the PM job he would make Harper look stupid. I know that Chretien is happy to go into the Canadian political history as a true Liberal while Harper will go in Canadian history books as the cheat who claimed that he was clean and transparent while he got caught behind closed doors looking to screw Canadians inspire of their political belief.
The Conservatives have tried repeatedly for the past 2 ½ years to govern in secrecy. Out of 113 Conservative seats Harper tells all of them I speak for you. Look at the last cabinet shuffle no one was allowed to comment in front of the media.

If Chretien is a true liberal, I guess that doesn't say much about the thieves who call themselves liberals...

It is on record that the biggest thief was Mulroney. Mulroney evaded the Tax department which is a very serious offence especially the PM of the country while in office greased his palms with cash and had the German not said anything this would have gone undetected. So who is the biggest crook here?

My good pal, Chretien never took cash in brown bags while in office, and Chretien paid his taxes on time. ;-)
