bama-administration scandals never resolve. They just vanish — usually, under a new scandal. So it was with one of this president’s earliest embarrassments, “Operation Fast and Furious,” designed to help the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) dismantle drug cartels operating inside the United States and disrupt drug-trafficking routes. Instead, it put into the hands of criminals south of the border some 2,000 weapons, which have been used to kill hundreds of Mexicans and at least one American, U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

Controlling Chicago's crime is going to be a challenge. Most of the crime is committed by blacks. Any crackdown will result in accusations of racism. That's why it got out of hand in the first place. Every time the police take action they are called 'racist'. They get no cooperation from the black community in solving crime. What are they supposed to do?

Question: It just seems to defy common sense that crimes likely to involve guns would be reduced by allowing more people to carry guns. How do you explain the results?

Lott: Criminals are deterred by higher penalties. Just as higher arrest and conviction rates deter crime, so does the risk that someone committing a crime will confront someone able to defend him or herself. There is a strong negative relationship between the number of law-abiding citizens with permits and the crime rate—as more people obtain permits there is a greater decline in violent crime rates. For each additional year that a concealed handgun law is in effect the murder rate declines by 3 percent, rape by 2 percent, and robberies by over 2 percent."

I read an interesting hypothetical solution to urban crime.
Divide the city in half. Everyone in one half it required to carry a gun. Everyone in the other half is forbidden to carry a gun. The result, in a very short time would be, all crime was committed in the half that forbid carrying. The half where everyone carried was crime free.
That makes a lot of sense. Criminals who commit violence against others are basically cowards. They will not put themselves at risk by attacking someone who might shoot them when they can prey on the defenseless.

Many ignorant fools though Trump meant send in the National Guard. The less ignorant and foolish know that the National Guard isn't Federal, and therefore would not be "Feds."
