Yeah. Empire Stadium. Wet, muddy, foggy and smelled like cedar and cigarettes.
The only game I attended in Van was played in BC Place stadium and I remember feeling like an ant. Hubby and I had tickets for seats so high up the players looked like ants..........we wandered down until we got a couple of seats right behind Sask's bench - no seemed to care.............mind you the place was not anywhere near full. Sask won that game. I wish I had attended a game at ES - I am very nostalgic about old wooden stadiums for football and baseball.

Went to Empire to see SK play the Lions way back in 75 when Lancaster and Reed were the shit. Great team back then but couldn't win in the playoffs.

McMahon is the last of the wooden bench stadiums. They are due for new. It'll take UofC coughing up for a new stadium. They have more money than the city. Calgary is broke.

Well now, pete..............they did win us our first Grey Cup and that's saying something. 1966. I was 17 years old and already a die-hard Rider fan.

Yes well, I guess they figured getting an NHL barn built was more important to the city.
