Whoa................Calgary just had a 60 yard pick by Eric Rodgers called back due to a holding call...........2 and 18 and the stumps come up short again...............Maver punts one to the Al's 35...........and that is where they will take possession of the ball.
Holy Smoke.................Adams to Posey and down to the stumps 15............Jeremiah Johnson gets to the 2 yard line but Posey is tagged for holding and they are marched back10..............1rst and 20..............Adams connects with his receiver for a gain of 14........2nd and 6......Vernon keeps himself but is stalled at the LOS.........3rd and 6 and the Venerable Bede will take to the field for 19 yard FG.....Al's add another 6 to their score only 2 points behind Calgary with 8:43 left in the first half.
2:43 left in the Q......stumps threatening in the red zone............Arbuckle fails to connect with his receiver in the end zone............or wait a minute did he.............did his receiver have possession long enough for the TD............nope, stumps have to try again and again come up short down inside the 5...........3rd and goal .....Paredes out for a chip shot..........Calgary goes ahead by 5 points with 1:40 remaining.
Vernon intercepted on first play of their next series.....stumps slowly move the ball downfield...........go for it on 3rd down.........:03 left...........FG team out.............Calgary ends the half up 8 points over the Als.

We rejoin the game at the 11:53 mark in the 3rd Q after enjoying a lovely dinner. :smile:
Score remains the same as the Al's are managing to hold the stumps scoreless but are unable to do so themselves so far...........however, they just advanced into Calgary's red zone............Vernon's pass too low for Posey - who has helped mightily in the drive so far..............Wienke with TD - convert good and the Al's tie the game with 8:28 to go in the Q.

I must say that the Al's D is doing a fine job of holding the stumps from scoring a lot......Venon making good use of all of his receivers - keeping the stumps from easily reading the play...........Adams keeps himself and gets another 1rst D and the Al's are at the 34.............#24 gets them another 1rst D..............Johnson takes them just inside the 10........2nd and 3..........and Johnson has nowhere to go and loses a yard.........FG unit will take over and 3 and 4........... Bede hammers one through the uprights and the Al's ..........can you believe it.............take a 3 point lead over the stumps......GO ALS!
Al's D steps up again and forces the stumps to another 2 and out................Al's will start at their own 25 after the punt and a short return with :57 on the clock
Stamps take the lead back after Arbuckle connects with his receiver for pass and run right into the end zone early in the 4th.
Vernon connects with Lewis for a big first D.................Johnson gets them another 6 ..........his next pass is way too low and ahead of Posey so they are forced to punt once again...........flags fly on the punt return after it's almost blocked by Calgary...........who on the very next play finds his receiver for a really neat pass and run play...........right into the end zone...........convert increases their lead to 11 points with 9:56 left to play.
Al's killing their chances with penalties in spite of making some really good plays and real gains..............2nd and 20 and Jeremiah is going exactly nowhere..........Al's forced to punt with just over 6 minutes left for them to get a converted TD, a FG and a single point ..........don't think that's going to happen.
Kudos to young Arbuckle - he's had a great game..............over 300 yards in completions. Anything that keeps Boo off the field works for me. LOL
Ryan literally falls on his face returning the punt for the Al's who will start at their own 13.................Vernon completes a pass to Posey up to the 31...............1rst and 10......nobody in the area and the pass falls to the ground.................2nd and 10........and the pass is out of the hands of Posey...............Al's punt................Williams returns it to the 50 for Calgary and any hope that Montreal had of a comeback is gone.
I love it when that sleazy tactic fails........do not like a team trying to get the opposition to jump the line on 3rd Ds.
Calgary tagged with RTP............Montreal 1rst D at the 50.................Posey up to the 25..............and Vernon finds Lewis for the TD!.........they go for the 2-point convert and darn if they don't make it...............they are now but a FG away from a tie with :38 left in the game............give 'em credit for fighting on.........WTF........Bede called for delay of game and pushed back 10 yards........but darned if the short kick doesn't just work in favor of the Al's who come up with the ball after a deadly accurate kick by Bede - more than making up for his prior oops...........:29 left..........Al's 1rst and 10 at the 50............Posey gets them to the Calgary 35.......be still my heart............:24 left.........and Vernon can't connect.........2nd and 10........with 17 seconds left on the clock ............whoa Calgary called for roughing the passer putting the Al's at the Calgary 20...............Vernon can't connect........2nd and 10 and again Vernon can't find his receiver.............3rd and 10 and Bede will come out and if the gods so favor them........tie the game.........and he delivers. I am so eating crow right now..............and it actually tastes pretty darn good............absolutely great effort by the Alouettes.

There but for a toe, the mighty Stamps may very well have won the day............but they didn't and for the first time since 2009 the Montreal Alouettes have beaten the Calgary Stampeders and.............in the Stumps backyard............bet that tickles not a few hearts. The Al's showed true grit in this win and I give them and most especially Vernon Adams so much credit for never once giving up or in - victory is yours and you well deserve it.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers beat the Edmonton Eskimos in their game yesterday after leading the latter for most of the game. The Esks came close but penalties stopped any chance of them winning in the final minutes of the last quarter.
