No rain here. A couple tornadoes yesterday.

I'm watching the rerun of Riders/Lions right now. I had to listen while spraying on the weekend.

There are storms all around Regina if your weather map is right - I watched Garden's coverage and forecast. They did say you might have a high of 36' tomorrow - stay cool, Rockman.

I watched the interview with Corey during the sports news. He is feeling some heat right now, from all quarters, I would bet. Haven't seen him quite so vocal and so open about his feelings. I can't believe that some fans want him fired - well yeah, I guess I can considering what I read on the Sask forum from some of them. I don't want Corey going anywhere - he's a good coach and we know he can build a winning team. I wonder how he is getting along with Jacques Chapdelaine, yet another acquisition from BC that I was not thrilled about. Regardless, the biggest problem facing us right now is the continuing loss of yards to penalties. Our offense is good. We are actually top of the league in rushing yards. Our defense is good. Special teams are okay - bad news about Levi Steinhauer though. Our kicking game is not too shabby. So how hard can it be to simply focus on this penalty thing and fix it - now. If he does that and the team plays this next game against BC with the minimum of penalties, they can come out on top.

I stay away from Riderville.

Funny you should write that, I've only visited a couple of times this season. There are some really interesting people with a fine knowledge of football on it but there are also some really annoying ones. I haven't got time to mine the drivel for a few gems.

I'm glad Paul Waldu is coming back.
Agreed. And it will be interesting to see how Jeff Tisdale does with the team. He can make some big plays but, if I remember correctly, I think he also had some dropsy problems while he was with the Als. Hope he's got a handle on that.

My dream for the future of the CFL:

East Division:

Halifax Scotsmen
Quebec Voltigeurs
Montreal Alouettes
London Men o'War

Central Division:

Ottawa RougeBlacks
Toronto Argonauts
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Winnipeg Blue Bombers

West Division:

Saskatchewan Roughriders
Edmonton Eskimos
Calgary Stampeders
B.C. Lions

South Divison:

Texas Rangers (San Antonio)
Columbus (Ohio) Vipers
Memphis Steamers
Oklahoma Hunters (OK City)

(Exception to American civil rights laws to impose the same roster/citizenship requirements in the South Division as in the rest of the league.)

Every team plays every other team once (15 games), and the three teams in its own division a second time (3 games).

18-game season, the champion and runner-up of each division make the playoffs.

Three-round, single-elimination playoffs leading to the Grey Cup.

Just dreamin'.

That would be cool but I don't think the CFL will expand to the US again. I could be wrong though. Believe it or not I have been wrong once before.

A huge part of the reason the expansion failed was because the roster/citizenship requirements didn't apply in the U.S. The other big reason was piss-poor marketing. I knew plenty of Baltimoreans who didn't even know the Stallions existed.

Those are both fixable.

Another team in Atlantic Canada first. Then ten years of stability in TO. Then think about going south

Nova Scotia is just under 1 million. Saskatistan is just over. If you call them the Halifax Newfies or something that invokes pride across the entire Atlantic provinces, they should have no problems developing a good fan base.

Not a bad idea. Here's another possibility for a criterion: Demand that any city that wants a team must provide a stadium of at least 30,000 seating capacity, and must sell at least 225,000 tickets per season (that's 25,000 per game for nine home games) for three years to keep their team. When every team in the league meets that criterion for three years running, the CFL will look into expanding into the U.S.

I'm not sure if TO could do it. Not sure about the Lions either.
Maybe it's not time to expand, then.

Need to do more marketing.

Listen, I totally want the CFL to expand. But I realize that you have to have a sound business case, or the effort will fail, like it did in the 90s.

RougeBlacks looked really good tonight. Looks like last year's West-heavy season might be a little more even this year. At least the RougeBlacks aren't a joke anymore.

May happen but I doubt it will be in my lifetime, Tec. Super idea though - great team names BTW.

I do think we will see a team in the Maritimes in the not too distant future.

The Redblacks had a great game at home tonight. Man they have great fans - the stadium was packed to the rafters - love to see the team support.

Man, what a nice stadium, too! I loved the cafe seating right on the centerline. Wonder what those tickets cost!
