Not quite empty. Companies pay Facebook big bucks to know what you like on Facebook. These people could be getting targeted ads for the Fettish Temple in the near future. :smile:
Jian Ghomeshi might well have done the things he's accused of, but let's suppose he didn't. Let's suppose that he is having his personal life smeared by a former girlfriend and this is just a complete overreaction on the part of the CBC. Ask yourself, what would you do in his shoes?
I was once accused of inappropriate behavior by a tenant my wife and I were attempting to evict. Thankfully, my wife was smart enough to know that I would never do such a thing, but I will tell you that the rumors and innuendo regarding the accusation were alive and well long after I vacated the job and started driving truck.
This is the sort of stink you never shed and if Jian Ghomeshi is simply an individual who engages in a BDSM lifestyle and is a victim of a witch hunt, I think we should at least consider how we'd feel if our career and reputation were being tried and convicted.

Actually I do. He hosted the Gellars. He was a proponent of Canada Reads. He was a hell of an interviewer, Q was a great show from pop culture to music, to movies.

You of all people should understand that someone can smear your name with impunity.

I am, I'm also aware that in the real world, there are real repercussions for making such allegations. Both criminal and civil.

I get what you're saying but at the same time, the allegations have been very public. Sort of makes sense that he'd wage a public battle to fight it. The public aspect of this is the reason he was fired. CBC wants some distance.

I don't have a fixation on anything and if Jian Ghomeshi were announcing his retirement I'd just move on. I do give a crap when someone is accused by anonymous parties and subjected to a public smearing by the press because I have seen this sort of thing before. In the real world people can have their careers destroyed and their lives wiped out by unfounded accusations and sadly we now live in a society where the accused can be tried and convicted without a trial. That even if they are to launch a civil suit they likely will never unf_ck that which was f_cked up.
When I was accused I went to a lawyer. I wanted to sue. He said, "I'll issue a cease and desist. Any lawsuit is going to just cost you money."
It is critical to his lack of character.
After his last vacation he is not handing out reds by running thru a thread.

To me this is no different than any other individual who faces public shaming over allegations. If he did what he's accused of, he's a scum bag and should pay for it. If he didn't he's being crucified. Just like any other individual who loses their job, or custody of their kids when allegations against them are untrue. But instead of this being someone in your hometown, the 'hometown' is just a bit bigger.
In the real world, little people have their lives destroyed, and no one but them ever give a sh*t.
