In Ontario maybe. Depending on how close to down to an Toronto you are. PET is the most reviled person West of Ontario.

Just waiting for Junior to surpass him.

Turner claimed he had no choice and Mulroney slammed him back with "You could have said no". When he finished the word no, Turner was done. I don't think there has ever been a more decisive blow on a leader debate before or after. I

The only one I ever heard that topped it for me was.......

Love him or hate him, that was complete and total destruction.

I am pleasantly surprised that you are a member of the PC party of ON.

Doesn’t mean much. Whenever a major party has a leadership race I join just so I can vote. I’m out again when the race is over. I’ve been doing that for about five years now. Not that it made much difference though. The candidates I have voted for in all parties didn’t win. In this particular race I put Mulroney and Elliott. I’d be totally fine if the PCs won the election with one of them as leader. Ford not so much.

Mulroney, Harper among least popular of long-serving prime ministers while Pierre Trudeau remains beloved | National Post

Steven Harper literally the least popular long serving Canadian PM of all time. Slightly less popular than Brian Mulroney.

Give it another 20-30 years and see what the results are. I’m no fan of Harper but I do know that it’s way too soon to really judge his legacy in the long term.

I get that in the older demographic but he’s been out of office for over 30 years and dead for nearly 20. There’s a pretty big chunk of people who either don’t remember him or just weren’t even born yet when he was in power.

what could Harper possibly have as a legacy?

He accomplished almost nothing, and did it with a near complete contempt for parliament.

I served in Mr. Trudeau's Navy. Mr Trudeau REALLY DIDN'T like the Armed Forces, made a flashy show of his distain for them when he was rich and young during wartime. He was also the only Prime Minister in our history to declare martial law and send the Army in to patrol the streets of Montreal, like he was some Argentinian dictator. A pox on his spawn.

Besides, from the outside looking in, wasn't it mostly Torontonians that hated the Fords? You know - the center of the universe? While I don't know much about Ontario Politics (except that they simply have to get rid of her majesty, whomever is voted as leader for the PC's has to be better than what they currently have. I would hope they would vote for common sense, practical solutions et al.. but I know nothing about who is running and what their qualifications are.

May the best personkind win LOL!!

JMHO

Doug Ford is NOT Rob Ford. Never will be. Rob Ford was a bad boy. He did drugs. But he was likeable and tended to do what he said he was going to do. Doug Ford is not likeable. Doug Ford failed to beat John Tory for mayor. I think Rob would have made it closer if not won had it not been for his cancer.

One would think anything would be better than the current premier but I don't see enough people getting behind Doug to do it.

Reports are that Doug has won and Christine is getting a recount.

From Bourque:
FORD WINS PC LEADERSHIP

RESULTS DELAYED .. LAWYERS STEPPED IN .. PARTY MEMBERS, MEDIA KEPT IN THE DARK ..

If Doug is the winner I see at least two consecutive Harris-like majorities for the PC’s starting this June election.

He might do well in some of the rural ridings.

The Orangeville Bible Belt types won't like him much once the dirt starts flying .

Flossy tries so hard to get the grown ups angry. someone at least tell him he's making them upset and to stop.

I wonder why boys his age act that way? It's all part of puberty, I guess. Ooh, Flossy, you're such a naughty boy!

LOL he is just like Trump. Trump will never be president.

Ford will never be premier. This is not an ultra-right wing place. That constituency comprises less than 20% of the voters in Ontario.

Anyway, don't take my word for it. The "Big Poll" is just a couple of months away.
