The Ontario Opportunities Fund question's been on Ontario tax forms for about five years. I suspect it's one of the best ignored ones too. This is the first year they've been actively pimping it....

That would be why I didn't bother posting it in a new thread....

Harris started it years ago, to help fix the damage the NDP caused Ontario.

Yeah ... I know. It's in the Star story I posted. Rae (more properly, a union-driven NDP) didn't want cuts in service when the transfer payment conduit was pinched to prop up Martin's budget. There really is no black-and-white

This is some shoddy and shady journalism over there at Global. They are attempting to make it sound as though there is a crisis when it comes to people's transit security, when a vast majority of respondents stated that they in fact felt moderately or very secure on public transit (72%); I would venture to guess that people are not feeling less secure about public transit because of ISIS but, rather, because it's public transit.

BTW: Safe on transit brought me a chuckle when I escorted a former girlfriend to the Lockwood Centre. She'd never been on TTC and we chose a motel way out on Kingston Rd - which meant a bus to Kennedy station and the subway from there to Bay. I think it was Pape where a lot of dark-complexioned people in dark blue coats boarded and stood right in front of us. This was shortly after 911 - and the one with the briefcase REALLY worried her. On the rest of the ride to Bay, her fingernails dug ruts in my hand....

"The one significant attack we experienced happened on Parliament Hill, not in a restaurant ….”

That's the only one that is called a terrorist attack. Our politicians and the media are reluctant to use the phrase, 'terror attack'. There may be more that are dismissed at the acts of a mentally disturbed person, an act of revenge, or a lone wolf, etc. If the authorities don't call it terrorism doesn't mean that isn't the motive.
What about the two military men who were deliberately killed by a motorist in a parking lot? Do we know that wasn't motivated by a terrorist group?

Transit is for peasants.

When I moved to Toronto years ago, I did not have a vehicle. I took subways, buses, trolleys and trains everywhere and it was a great experience. What a way to see a city. I would get on one on my day off and ride it as far as it would go then on the way back I would get off at certain stations and walk around the area. I found Casa Loma that way. Whenever I am in a city now, I take public transit. Ferries are public transit out here and they are a great way to travel - expensive but fun all the same.

This is one peasant who enjoys the experience. ;-)
