Please do be aware that the US is not the same as Canada. Here, you do have to pretty much make it on your own. If you are willing to work hard, and take care of yourself, welcome.
You may find the political atmosphere a bit different. Here, you do have pretty much Freedom of Speech. There are no "Hate Speech" laws, that can fine you or even possibly get you jailed, because someone finds your words offensive. In Canada of course, that can, and does happen.
I am a dual citizen, and I have to admit, I would NEVER consider moving to Canada. I would not flourish under the "Nanny State" system, the lack of true Freedom of Speech", and a medical system that literally killed my paternal grandmother. Yes, that actually happened. She lived in Winnipeg, and she developed an abdominal hernia. her family doctor recommended surgery, immediate surgery, but this was denied as not being "medically necessary". She was put on a waiting list.
Unfortunately, her hernia strangulated, and by the time they got her into surgery, gangrene had set in, and it was too late. She died of a massive abdominal infection, that was 100% preventable.
In the USA, even if she was a street person, all she would have had to do was go to an emergency room when her belly pain started. She would have gotten immediate surgery, and they would have sorted out financial stuff later. Lots of Canadians don't know that this is the case,. but it really is.

What the heck, she was 82, had a good life, so I guess she really had little value to the country or the Province. Of course, to her family she was pretty valuable, but what did that matter?
