Windows 2000, ouch!
Next week's theme is songs from the 21st century. Songs younger than the Idols, what a revolutionary idea!

I would have loved to hear Paul do Mrs. Robinson solo, but I'll never hear him again!
Jennifer Lopez will never allow herself to be booed on live, national television. The same applies, to a lesser extent, to Steven Tyler. There's a total conflict of interest here, which I wish had been sniffed out when their names first came up. It's surprising, considering how things played out with Ellen DeGeneres.
And Ross I agree with Dave on Demand. I just don't get the America won't vote for a girl theory when there's been 4 female winners.
Asking for good lighting is different from asking for a famous collaborator. I'm shocked you don't see the difference :sad3:. Zakk Wylde got as much camera time as James and Zakk was trending on twitter. If James wants to do it on final results show, that's great but when he wants to do it during a time when people judge his performance and he gets help from a charismatic musician that's not ok.Asking isn't demanding though. AI could have said no, and arguably should have said no. But if you can ask and get it -- why not ask? Plus it looks like James kind set it up himself through contacts he made while on the show. Becoming friends with Chris Jericho.. I look at it like Adam knew to ask for good lighting and lasers, James asked for Zakk Wylde. AI should have squashed it though. Kind of unfair IMHO. James is like a big goofy puppy to me. He's all enthusiasim and act first think later. I don't sense any malice in him.

Are you serious? Having smple visual effects such as lights is so different from having a famous collaborator. Almost half the performance was about Zakk and he even stood next to James during the judging and said “He sung his ass off, without a doubt”. If they need backup singers and guitarists they should be in the background. If they really let the contestants collaborate with known respected musicians that get a lot of attention whats next? Scotty and Garth Brooks? :lol:Not exactly the same, but not that different. Adam more or less started it. He didn't ask for collaborators, but he did ask for more stagecraft than anyone had ever employed before, to enhance his performances. It wasn't just about good lighting. It's asking for something special for yourself, that's different from what the other performers have - and getting it. Really, anything outside of your own ability to perform can be construed as extraneous, and as unbalancing the competition.

Jacob got to sing MITM with the woman who wrote it, Siedah Garrett. That didn't seemed 100% fair, either. Granted, she had already been on the show this season (backing up Haley) - she wasn't brought in, like Zakk - but she wrote the song. If the songwriter is onstage singing her song with you, it's like a seal of approval.

Blue lighting = Zakk Wylde?
I agree with Zakk being over the top to be honest. I don't think AI should have done that for James, I don't think Jacob should have sang with the original songwriter of MITM, I don't think James should have set his piano on fire - except that all these things were fun and I enjoyed them all - but the point is in a competition there should be a level field of play. But no one ever said life was fair.
Don't forget that when Jacob sang Man in the Mirror, unfairly as some claim with the songwriter as backup, he ended up in the bottom three for the first time the following night.
Can't really explain that, except to say, think of sports. If the rules weren't strict - if the rules kept changing to suit the situation - people wouldn't watch any more
I actually do agree with this - LOL - although it might not seem like it. I think at the very least limiting celebrity guests would be a good thing in a competition. But since they threw out the rules might as well ask for the moon and see what you get. Set your own piano (figuratively) on fire.
