I'm not sure too many people have ever talked about the audition process before - that's all I meant. Actually, I think I heard Alex talk about it once before (I think it was in a phone interview with Slezak or Cantiello). Alex and Jim footage:
‘American Idol’ Finale Diary: Catching Up With Alex Wagner-Trugman MTV Newsroom
‘American Idol’ Finale Diary: Does Alex Wagner-Trugman Get Mobbed By Fans? MTV Newsroom

Is there anything interesting on MJ's blog? Tonight I think there are two Adam threads, so the headlines thread is deserted. lol

Miss Teen USA visita base naval de Guantánamo | Gaceta de Cuba

"Among those who have recently participated in USO activities include figures like Trace Adkins, the cheerleaders of the Dallas Cowboys, Gary Sinise and Lt. Dan Banda, Jessica Simpson and Kris Allen."

Can I say...? I AM SOOOOO SIIIIIIICK OF AUDITIONS ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! And can I also say...? I don't like divas!!! And can I also say...? I really haven't seen anyone yet this year that I love. missaddicted, I'm looking to you to guide me.

SAN FRANCISCO!!! Hey! Did you know this is where ADAM LAMBERT auditioned??? No, really. Tell you what. Let's count the mentions of Adam Lambert this season.

The "You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me" girl was good enough for me. Weird but good.

Guys with fauxhawks should expect to get beaten up. js

Speaking of Adam Lambert...this guy sounds like him...only more so. Question: why is this kind of singing necessary? I have a headache already. (Come on, you guys - you made me watch this drek. Where are you??)

Bah. And thank god the auditions are finally over. I really couldn't take one more tragedy. I just want you to sing for me I don't need to see your tragic life in a karaoke bar... that last guy if he makes it through Hollywood how will he survive the media? he was a wreck in the auditions I don't want to see someone seriously fall apart emotionally in front of the world. I liked the girl with the guitar...lol. oh idol I think I have a type.

Oh man, James Durbin. I hate you Idol. Yeah, I get that he's had a hard life, but seriously, his audition was not good. No, Idol, you won't make me drink the kool-aid. The guy was not that good. Even the judges seemed to be faking enthusiasm. But, of course, he's a got a tragic story, so he'll probably make it far. *sigh*

missaddicted, I'm looking to you to guide me.

The only one I would say made an impression on me is Casey Abrams (the guy with the melodica from last week). I just looked again at the list of the spoilers from the top 40 at MJ's and there are still quite a few people we haven't seen (girls mostly) and from the ones we have seen, meh. Casey is in there thankfully.

(Come on, you guys - you made me watch this drek. Where are you??)

LOL. Sorry. I can't watch Idol live this year. Well, at least until April. Both Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Oh my other thought was they should have aired the farting girl, lol. CI's farting girl has 12 million views on YouTube. What a way to become mildly famous.

Not much can top CI6 farting girl. Not even the guy with the Ed Grimley hairdo tonight. Did you hear Ryan (or someone) say after he sang, "Have we found our winner?" And didn't JLo call the girl who sang "Summertime" the winner? Do people they declare the winner this soon ever end up being the winner? (And did you think either of those people were who you'd vote for? PS. Download Skype and vote this year.)

I like Casey Abrams. I aslo like shorts-and-glasses guy - think we'll ever see him again? Even if he sang too much like ChrisNizzle, I still thought he had potential.

Nope.

Is it really working, voting via Skype? I have it now, since I need it for personal reasons as well.

I'm just glad it's time for Hollywood week. The auditions are just tedious.

I just went "OMG" when I looked at twitter.

Mix1041 Mix Music Meeting - tell us what you think of "Alright With Me" by @KrisAllen http://bit.ly/fsxs8n #krisallen #americanidol

Some women on the Kalan Porter forum claimed to have voted (for Adam) in Season 8, using Skype. I'm not sure if those votes aren't thrown out, though.

USE SKYPE TO VOTE AGAINST JAMES DURBIN. This public service announcement was brought to you by my ears. Thank you.

OMG indeed. do you think they'll play it? They should, because it's awesome, and Kris's other songs did well there.

Just listened to Nigel and Ryan's interview regarding the most interesting guy in the world aka James Durbin (he didn't bug me so much when he wasn 't crying) they played a clip of him singing and they talked the farting girl. Nigel said this has never happened on idol before. And he laughed for 3 minutes straight they don't youtube much I guess. Lol Ci's farting girl was clearly superior.

The problem with James Durbin is not that he bugged me or anything. I won't become president of the James Durbin haters. He did have a touching story (even though I might be a bitch because I believe that if you don't have the money necessary to buy diapers for your baby, you do anything you can to not have a baby in the first place until you have the means to buy basic stuff for him/her). I just thought he wasn't that talented. His voice was all over the place, he didn't really carry a melody well and his tone wasn't not really pleasant. So, meh.

I actually ignore the sob stories. Because I'm trying to get other stuff done while watching the audition episodes. Anyhow, I heard "Aspergers" and something else, and then I saw the guy with the Ed Grimley hair, but as you know I'm not too big a fan of the shouters. I'm trying to figure out when this style of singing became popular - though, as far as I can figure, it never really did. He reminded me a lot of Adam as a singer, except much less nasal. Other than that, I guess I have no opinion except this kind of singing bores me.

Well, if Idol sucks this year, I'll be watching this:

From Far and Wide

From their blog fromfarandwide:

From Far and Wide is a battle-of-the-bands style show about finding Canada’s best new independent and original music. Each episode will focus on one province in which four artists/bands will be chosen to perform in front of a panel of music industry judges. One finalist from each province will be chosen to perform in the final competition.

From Far and Wide is the Anti-Idol. It’s about an individual or group writing their own original music and performing it live. While other Idol shows are glitzy extravaganzas with individuals singing covers of mainstream hits, From Far and Wide is about Canada’s real grassroots music scene. We look for artists from a variety of genres who write their own music and engage the audience, whether it’s quiet, humble subtlety or raging rock ‘n’ roll aggression. We look for believability and we look for a soul.

That show sounds good. But watch Idol with me anyway. :) I won't be able to watch your show.

I'm having computer issues - my computer won't connect to the internet. I may have to take it for repairs. I'm writing this at work. Anyway, if you don't hear a lot from me, that's why. I have tomorrow off and I'm not looking forward to a three day weekend without any internet access.

Okay that looks awesome, and the hosts name is Jeremy Panda (my favorite animal! Lol) I'm in. where is it airing? Online? much is doing something like that too. Instead of Disband they are going to follow bands as they try to make it in the industry. kind of cool.

So Hollywood did not disappoint. we lost some folk that I wasn't that into, and more drama less sobbing. James I liked until that Siobhan like scream, the exs were good, the 15!'s were good, we ditched the more annoying half of the lovebirds. Steven JLo and Randy all looked serious and into it, which I appreciated.

also I switched radio stations. the first song my new station played? LLWD. :)

Good luck with the Internet connection Ross, that sucks

I meant say too- I didn 't know Kalan's sister was an actor. He tweeted about her today.

Good luck with your internet connection, ross! And I won't quit watching Idol, don't worry!

I won't be able to watch your show.

I think it will air online actually. I didn't see any TV station announced or anything. So if you get your connection back, you might be able to watch it if you want!

Honestly, I don't get James Durbin. I don't see (hear!) how this guy is supposed to be a good singer, he can't carry a melody!! He throws notes in there just for the heck of it and completely denatures the song he is singing. I don't get it.

Also, Lauren Alaina has an annoying vibrato and Chris Medina was not that good on that Mraz song either. Not a big fan of the pimped ones so far. Except Casey Abrams, I guess, he's alright with me (no pun intended!). And I liked Brett at the beginning of the episode, the kid with the curly red hair. And I was surprised at Hollie, she was in tears during her audition, but she seemed confident in Hollywood. She made me think of Katherine St-Laurent a bit. Maybe it's just that they look alike.

Did you see that the episode didn't really make sense? Some people who apparently were there during the "first day" could also be seen during the "second day". But the judges obviously had different outfits for the two days, so how did they edit this episode?

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the vibrato either. But Lauren can sing, and she seems confident. We'll see. It's so early to pick. I would have totally missed Kris.. cause we pretty much wouldn't have seen him yet, LOL.

I thought James was okay, except for the screamy ending, but looking at Stephen Tyler's face, he loved that screamy ending. So it's just a matter of what you like. :) I wouldn't say he was fave, but he wasn't bad for me. I loved Brett too. He reminded me of Geddy Lee of Rush (in looks anyway). LOL

It's a whole nother kettle of fish when they have to pick songs from week to week. Alex said in his Idle Review interview that of the 150 people at Hollywood week 120 of them were capable of winning Idol. For me that's a bit generous, but I do agree with him. Most of those people can sing. So much on this show depends on knowing what you're good at, and picking the right songs and carrying them off with little rehearsal and not getting talked into being something you're not.

and Hollie does look like Katherine!! And agreed on Chris Medina. NGL I was happy he made it through because I'm a sucker (even when I hate sob stories I find myself affected by them -
which is probably why I hate them to be honest) but he wasn't that strong in comparison to the others they showed.

Adam didn't win Grammy but hey, to be nominated on his debut album is fantastic. It means that his talent is already recognized by many of his industry peers. And at least he is not falling off into a pit of obscurity. Tomorrow Adam will be on ET Canada :p.

These people are CRAY-ZY.... Or they're edited to look crazy, either way group drama for the win. So much bad behaviour. SO MUCH. Good tv tho. ;)

Ha! I loved the episode. Lots of drama for sure, but at least, the drama was distributed among several groups, not only about one or two, or one or two crazy people. And also, we had LOTS of music, we saw a lot of these groups, so yay for that.

Still completely unimpressed by James Durbin. Seriously. He's a one trick pony. He's like Siobhan, but he's not even as good as a singer than she is.

Rob. He had such a good voice, but the guy just threw in the towel. Sorry, Rob, you fully deserved what was coming for you. Maybe he was still too in love with his ex to care about Idol, but still, kind of disappointed to see go down like that.
