I have Rex Goudie's Idol album!! I bought it for $1.99. I wrote something about him on TWoP a while ago. i linked to an article about him. He auditioned as frontman for a Canadian band. I forget the band - kind of well known. I think it's all still there if you go back a couple of pages.
PLUS. Lee and Crystal's albums were both released in Australia. AND I've seen press with both of them in Canada... It just makes me feel that there was something going on with the release of Kris's album. I know it sounds crazy  But I don't care. It just all feels odd to me that Kris never did any press here, and his album wasn't available in Australia. Maybe the demand wasn't there, but I don't know it doesn't make sense.
I don't think there's any way to figure out demand for someone who's never released any music before.
As for South America, as I said, Kris has had radio hits there, including No Boundaries, originally, and Heartless, way back when - so, popularity, yes. CDs avaialble to take advantage of that popularity? No, apparently.
Also - Canada. Kris's videos and his live performances on MOD - I assumed it would have been a given. Haven't Cook and Archie and gawd knows who else been on MOD?
So do you want to put forth the conspiracy theory that Kris was sacrificed so that Adam would have an uncompetitive playing field in these places? (I'm not saying that's what you're saying. However, that's what I'm saying.) I'm not crazy, either, but after a while there doesn't seem to be any other reasonable explanation. Or another variation on the same basic thing: Money that would normally have gone toward promting Kris or his CD - or shipping it - or whatever - was taken from his budget and given to Adam's budget.
I don't think any of this is all that far-fetched - after all TPTB seem to have put a lot of time/effort/money into Adam's promotion, and it had to come from somewhere - and a lot of it is probably usually set aside for the winner - the promotional team, the promotional buget, etc.
One of our Kris fans from Australia was recently talking about how she's contacted Jive and they've given her vague answers about Kris's CD such as "shipping issues." Why not just say, "No, we aren't doing it."? Kris fan from Aus: if you want to know why that CD isn't there, maybe you should ask where all the money came from to finance Adam's trip there and hire the dancers and all the rest of it. Because that may be your answer.
I'm not really buying the whole "they're with different labels" thing, because they're all with Sony, after all, and they're all with 19, and they're all Idols, so you can't tell me it's not all in the same basket.
I think what's becoming obvious over time is not just that TPTB are sometimes ignoring Kris, in a benign way, but that there even seem to be weird, inexplicable indications that they have kept him down, or hindered his progress. I'm just giving some guesses about it. I'm not blaming Adam. But who knows what deals were made or who was a plant or who wasn't, or any of the rest of it. I think Kris is the thing they wish would go away, for some reason. Or stay safely in the background, anyhow.
