Yeah, I know what you're saying. I find the whole inclusion of Pat Monahan on the single rather puzzling, to be honest. It's not like he improved it, and he's not a big name to most people. I can't see his name adding a lot of buzz. I wonder if Pat himself is not to blame. I saw it this way originally. They needed to shorten and re-do the song for radio, and must have asked for his input, and I think the inclusion of himself may have been his own idea. No way to know, of course.

As I said, I think it works as a concept. It's more interesting than "just another single by another singer." And also, you can't say the composer wouldn't have liked what Kris is doing with his song, because he's giving his tacit approval by his appearance. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else.

I probably feel differently too since I've always liked the song and it's probably the song I would have picked for single 3. :) Aside from some minor debacles (itunes pass anyone? -- Script-gate?) Jive's been pretty good to Kris. Kris has a great band, and has been playing for diverse crowds and with awesome bands.

And Train may have only had a few hits but they were pretty massive international hits. Even though Pat is still that dude from Train. :)

I sort of wonder if Script-gate contributed to adding Pat. After all the brou-haha about Kris singing a song that The Script had previously released, I wonder if they wanted to head that off at the pass by including Pat.

I hope David gets a co-write for a radio release too. He definately deserves it.

LLWD was a name that tune song on CHUM today. And the person who didn't know Idol at all.. guessed Kris sang it! :) And the Dj then said she loved the song. So yay!

Dear Lee and Crystal. It's not Kris, but you all could seriously use the help...um, who sang it last year? started with a K...

I wanted them to turn and face the audience. It was pretty good though, on it's own merits. Too bad they have no originality. lol

I don't think I loved the song, but Crystal is the best so far for me.

But her boyfriend doesn't want to wear real pants on national tv? LOL

Okay, I have to go backwards...

I thought Casey was fantastic. I thought that for the first time, he really felt the song and didn't seem nervous. He's got great pitch, usually (not last week), unlike Lee, but nobody ever gives him any credit for that. He got slightly goat-like once, but basically he was very good.

Falling Slowly...

I wasn't crazy about that duet. It was closer to the movie version than Kris's was, but I like Kris's better than the movie. I thought they both sounded harsh. The meaning of the song wasn't obvious. I don't like when singers project a kind of "we're wowing you with this" thing. I don't think they were focused on the meaning of the song enough. The didn't make me forget Kris, that's for sure.

(I don't really expect the judges to mention Kris when songs he sang are sung again. Especially when the show is trying like mad to avoid coimparisons with last season.)

Michael wasn't impressive. His voice is kind of thin. I was making some supper, I don't know. I find him three times as smug as Gokey ever was. That look on his face when he gets praise. Ugh.

Lee...

Every time I hear this guy I think he sounds like crap. He has these moments, or glimmers, but by now he should have more than that. He goes off key all the time, and some of his sounds are just harsh.

I'm no longer really feeling Crystal. She's one of those people who, the more you hear them, the worse they sound, not better.

Casey-Michael duet...

It's hard for two guys to find a good song for a duet. This was a good choice. I didn't love it, but I liked it more than the other one, because I think they felt it more.

Randy said "brilliant." Has he ever used that word before?
