So, obviously, some do. not. get. it.
Anyhow...can someone explain to me -- I mean, so it makes sense -- this seeming ambivalence of 19 towards Kris (who's under contract to them)? AI winner, extremely marketable, scores big on radio, sells millions of singles, still has the most downloads of anyone in Season 8. Charming, charitable, nice to his mom. I doubt his disappointing album sales are all that's behind their lack of warmth. (And any sales issues he has they could probably help, with promotion on the show, a la Adam, or other means.)
I don't think you can actually give me any answer that makes sense. Here is the answer most people come up with: They never wanted him to win, so they resent that he won. They don't care whether he may be marketable or not, they're sore losers.
Why would they care that the "wrong" guy won, if the wrong guy ends up actually being the right guy? If he was some untalented, unattractive loser people hated, that would be different. He's like the perfect American Idol winner to represent their fanchise and allow them to market it to the world. Adam is hardly that, never was. Not only that, but Kris seems cooperative and uncomplaining, and no doubt personable and polite in all his dealings with them.
I can only guess that they're afraid Kris's success will get in the way of Adam's success. If Kris has a platinum-plus single, that makes Adam look like a loser, so Adam has to have one, too. Why would they care about this? Probably because they've gambled money up front, and they need to recoup it?
Anyway, it makes no sense to push this particular winner under the rug.
[BTW, I heard WWFM on the radio today, and it was followed by Pink's latest, and I realized Adam sings WWFM a lot like Pink. (Or, rather, P!nk.) I just don't get what his persona is, as a singer. As a performer I get it, but as a singer on the radio, he really doesn't have a personality.]
