Live at the Wiltern – The Morning After Fourteen Plums

That person from the Orange County Register never liked Kris and always preferred Adam (as I recall). But imagine saying he "cowers" behind his guitar? Cowers? And the comments about being "brave?" Why imply Kris is gutless? Sometimes these reviews sound like they were written by people on MJ's blog (Of course, they might very well be, for all I know.) Anyhow. I can't stand these reviewers who are still trying to rehash their bitterness over how AI turned out.

The other reviews were good. Naturally I wish he got more than two sentences in the Boot review, but calling the set "crisp and energetic" is fine by me. I'm glad they talked about his energy. There is that tendency to write about Kris as if he's a quiet, low key acoustic singer-songwriter type, when in fact he's a lot more.

Yeah, the Katy Perry cover must have gotten him a lot of attention if he mentions it in his thank-yous. Wonder if Jacob saw it (since he also covered it)? It's possible since they both work with Dave Genn.

I would love to see AP take off and do as well as the other bands mentioned on the sticker. They seem like nice guys.

Wow, the singing along was surprising. He looked shocked when he first heard it. Sounds like a gabby sort of crowd.

I hate people singing along to soft ballads at concerts. Like, shut up and listen to the singer. That's how I feel. But that was pretty nice -- and an awesome performance.

His tastes and mine don't mesh too much, though I thought he was really good on CI and he was one of my favorites. He was probably one of the best musicians and he has a really good voice. But as soon as the show was over, my interest in him waned due to his musical direction.

Danny and I -- but we parted ways during the show. It's interesting that sometimes people you don't like on the show mesh better with your musical interests than the people you liked on the show. It's happened to me too with others.

Lots of twitter chatter about Kris opening for someone big - not John Mayer - not Paul McCartney - but BIG.

oh you would HATE me - lol. I'm a sing-along-fool.

I could never hate you! That's guaranteed. :)

But, seriously, what happened to listening to a singer? Can you picture people singing along at Frank Sinatra concerts with all the songs? But with rock concerts the line is blurred and people are in a party mood, and besides, they're already singing along to the louder stuff (I heartily approve of this), so they're in sing-along mode.

But when a singer brings it down and is quiet, I like the audience to be quiet and listen, to allow me to listen to the singer, not to them. But anyway it ain't gonna happen. Question is, do you want never to hear Falling Slowly or any other ballad sung by Kris again? That's all. It's like Jacob singing Gunnin'. All you hear now is the audience.

Nonetheless, it's a huge complement, so I'm of two minds about it.

Oh, me too. I kept quiet though when Cook did his the acapella/without mic portion of Lie. Otherwise, I'm singing along!

Hating is not happening. :)

I think it's probably worse in the videos compared to a live setting too.

Good point.

Adam Lambert?

Uggh, I suppose I'll just have to ride out the temporary Adam storm, as it were, as his fans delight in his rise on iTunes, even though if he gets American Idol as his personal showcase for two nights running, what else can you expect? That, and the buying of multiple copies which is as blatant as it is stupid.

Someone on MJ's compared the sales this week of LLWD vs. WWFM, and I was going to write, you can't fairly compare them unless Kris also went on AI at the same time and got the same ass-kissing, because...well, you just can't. It's like comparing the box office of two movies when one got all the publicity and another got none. (Also, the concerted multi-buying efforts which are laid out in detail on several forums on the internet.) But I didn't. Why give the bitches the satisfaction?? lol

Where was I? :)

Oh, yeah. I wouldn't want Kris to open for Paul McCartney. People I know who are in their 60's and 70's go to his concerts. Not that that matters, I guess, but I just don't see that people going to a concert by "living legend Paul McCartney" would care who is opening for him, or pay any attention to him. They're there to see Paul. And the age difference is huge...I don't know, I just don't see it as a good fit.

I don't even know if I'm happy about Kris opening for someone huge. I would rather see him sharing the stage with a few acts his own age and maybe his own level of fame or a little bigger. (One Republic was pretty good.) So that he stands out. If he opens for Bon Jovi or somebody like that, he just won't stand out against the hugeness of the other act and its popularity.

John Mayer seemed like a pretty good fit, to me, maybe because he's attracting a less raucous audience than some acts and he himself is a solo singer.

What happened to my quote from Slezak? Oh, well, I wrote that I agreed with his reminding people Crystal is a human being and not just there for our entertainment -- or however he put it. That's something that bugs me about some people on forums. How they think about Idol contestants as unreal cartoons.

Train is opening for John Mayer, btw. At least that's what I heard on the radio.

I hope Kris isn't opening for Carrie Underwood.

Reality Check

Our friend Debra asks, "Where's Mookie?" Mookie's with a major label, right? That's why Mookie wasn't there, most likely. Why Mitch wasn't there, I don't know. (Guess she doesn't care.) Or any of the other Top 24, since with Paul Clifford there it means any of the Top 24 could have been. But, anyway since DY gets paid to write a reality TV blog, with the focus seemingly on Idol (or so her little bio seems to indicate), why she can't do any homework is a mystery. Why do we seem to know more than her? How many times do you need to feed the goldfish?

Excuse my snark. But it's too bad there isn't an informative column done about reality TV by someone who enjoys immersing themselves in the subject. It could be a good read, and we might actually learn a lot from such a writer.

So SleepinIn, the twitter chatter about Kris opening for someone big is for a whole tour or just for one date?

It's pointing towards selected dates (not arenas) with them doing their own club shows too. Which I think is a good thing. Nice mix. (not a country artist so no to Carrie)

I'd like Paul McCartney only for Kris really. Because he'd LOVE it. I don't think he'd even care if no one cared who he was.

I could never hate you! That's guaranteed.

Aw good!!

Just write that it's nice that Adam can catch up finally. LOL - no don't! you'll get sent to the corner. It is an unfair comparison, when you think about how well LLWD has done with Kris NOT being a media darling on Rollingstone or Oprah for cryin' out loud. It's flat out amazing.

Debra Yeo needs to step up her research. Seriously.

If she was a good/interested columnist or blogger she'd have gone to the concert.

LOL to the first part, and "exactly" to the second part. Or, "I know, right?" if you prefer!

Wow, they're getting pretty specific, they know who it is if they know the person (or band) isn't country. Who is tweeting this, anyhow? If they know, why don't they just say so? It's not like they're going to get arrested.

Let's see. Huge. Daughtry? Is he huge? Springsteen? Very huge. I don't think people open for him, though. Rob Thomas?
