I don't especially like the Beatles and I wish Kris would stop singing their songs! I'm serious. It's the one thing I don't especially dig about him musically.
I'm sure he'll do a great job, but I could never love Let It Be the way I can love Man In The Mirror, for example. Beatles songs are really kind of pretentious (except for their early stuff). It worked for the Beatles but (imho) doesn't necessarily bring out what's best about Kris. The Beatles could be heavy-handed. Kris is anything but heavy-handed, and therein lies the discrepancy, to me.
I'll be happy to eat my words Thursday night, of course.
I wish he could have done a revised Land Of Smiles, or one of his other songs not off his current album. Something of his own. Guess there was hardly time for that, though.
I wish he was singing LLWD as well -- but I think the song will get a boost, regardless.
Debra Yeo -- can she really be that stupid? How long does it takle to Google "Kris Allen Haiti" and find out if he's been there? I don't know if I believe her apology. If it's true, she's a nitwit. I guess that's a good a defense as any, though. Just kind of unbelievable she actually has the backing of the Toronto Star to influence people about music or performers or anything.
Reading her original post, and that New Zealand b.s., and remembering that Kris's music is still not available in Australia, I kind of wonder why Kris seems especially scorned by the Commonwealth countries. Did he insult the Queen, or something? I hope he doesn't get rotten tomatoes thrown at him in The Bahamas.
