This is what was being talked about on this thread a year ago. (Flash: I got another chocolate cake this year in work. Ha.

That's hilarious. We were all over Jamar and Danny like a dirty shirt. (I was anyway) Adam was getting attention - some good (me) some bad (you guys) and we were intrigued by the mystery of Kris. (well I probably hadn't caught up yet.. but still). I was also a lot briefer in my posts. What have you guys done to me? LOL

It's also funny that the people you ended up really talking about were the ones that I most remember from this stage last year.

And

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSS!!!!

Really nice videos from Malaysia just popped up. Come Together is really cool visually.

YouTube - Come Together - Kris Allen (live)

YouTube - Live Like We're Dying - Kris Allen (live)

Plus Last chance!!

VH1.com: VSpot Top 20 Countdown

Kris and One Republic that's interesting.

ETA: Going back to listen to MWK videos...oh, me like...

Yes! I told you last night ross, but happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!! Chocolate cake, miam!

It's also funny that the people you ended up really talking about were the ones that I most remember from this stage last year.

I guess Danny and Adam were pretty much unavoidable, lol! And I'm actually still surprised that Kris made it through the semi finals!! I was very much hoping for it, but honestly, I never thought it would actually happen, lol! So, I'm hoping that I'm rooting for the good underdog again this year (Go Lee!!).

Thanks for the Haiti pictures SleepinIn. I'm sure that Kris is happy to be there to bring some relief to the Haitiens.

Kris and One Republic that's interesting.

Interesting in the good sense or the bad sense?

When are his other gigs, like the Bahamas and all that? The Bahamas in April?

Yay, Canada just won a gold medal in Skeleton!

Going back to listen to MWK videos...oh, me like...

You do? Awesome! I think that user must have the other videos as well. Also, this user has all the videos in HD: YouTube - jsalow2's Channel. I haven't watched a lot yet, just got back home! I'm grateful that not only do I get good music from David Cook, I also got good music from his bandmates. MWK has 4 EPs or albums on iTunes. Neal (lead guitar player) is a bit wacky, but he's a fine songwriter.

It was too late for me to vote today. I tried earlier, in work, but no time, very busy day.

Thanks for the pictures of Kris.

Wow, Kris tweeted that he was already back from Haiti! I expected a short trip, but I was expecting a few days, not one day only! I guess something was preventing him from staying longer. Anyway, the important is that he went and that he'll be able to convince people to give again for the people there when he's on Idol on Thursday.

ETA: There are three new pictures here: Kris Arrives in Haiti, Already in Action - Pictures | KrisAllenAddicts.com | Kris Allen Fan Site - American Idol Season 8 Winner

It was only a day, but Kris was kept busy!!

Thanks for the birthday greetings, you guys! :) :) :)

What an unusual name, Bowersox. Never heard it before. I haven't heard this woman sing a lot. so I'm reserving the right to think she may not be quite the second coming, at this point. Also, I like Lilly Scott better. But she's a lot less "powerful" a voice. And this is AI, after all. Plus, Bowersox has one of those harmonica things that rest on your clavicle. And we all know that means you're a real singer and not some Idol wannabe. Just kidding. But it is a little ironic how when someone tries out for Idol, if she seems like she doesn't belong on the show, or is too real for the show, that's supposed to be proof she's better than the ones who do seem like they belong on the show. Irony.

I'm watching Adam being interviewed on VH1. The host just said to Adam that on Idol he was like "Michael Phelps in a group of kiddie swimmers," or something like that. Then he said, "You just outclassed everyone." Got to be honest, this stuff will always bother me. I guess if I thought it was true (not just disagreed with it), it wouldn't bother me.

The Script's Breakeven is #2, and I assume Adam is #1. Kris was way down to #7.

Um. :-? The Script is up 8 spots, from last week. The Script. (Fishy? I don't know.)

I voted for my fave about three times as much as I did the week before. I can't vote more than that. Frustrating. I'd like to see him make #1 more than that one time. I don't see how the Glamberts can be beat online, though. They just have it sewn up all the time.

YouTube - Up close with Kris Allen - Part 1

YouTube - Up close with Idol Kris Allen - Part 2

Bowersox - I like her and at this point she is in my Danny Gokey/Jamar position. And you know how that worked out. LOL - But right now she is one of the people I'm looking forward to seeing perform. It's really too early for me to have a true favourite though.

What do you all think about the Angela Martin situation? Ellen had her on her show and promised to help her find a record deal, Kara promised to write a song for her.. um, why not just put her through to top 24 then??? Weird.

"You just outclassed everyone." Got to be honest, this stuff will always bother me.

Bugs me too. Adam was a frontrunner from the beginning but by the end he'd been caught. I had no idea how the vote would go on finale night.

The Script's Breakeven is #2, and I assume Adam is #1. Kris was way down to #7.

Definitly fishy. I'm sure the Script have a lot of fans, but are they crazy Idol fan power voters? lol

Oh, yeah, for sure it's way too early to choose a definitive favorite. But let's say I'm more excited to see Bow-er-sox! than Ashely or Haeley right now! I have a few early favorites, but I'm waiting to see what they do next week and the weeks after.

The host just said to Adam that on Idol he was like "Michael Phelps in a group of kiddie swimmers," or something like that. Then he said, "You just outclassed everyone."

Ugh. That's so stupid. Dude, he didn't outclass everyone, he didn't win!

Well, it's maybe partly due to the negative response that Idol got, and especially Kara and her patronizing ways, for letting her go the way they did. Actually, I'm okay to their way of handling things with the Ellen show and all that because if they had put of through, I believe that she would have gotten sympathy votes not related at all to her performances. Now, she maybe has chance to make a career in music, but honestly, I don't see her going anywhere, even with Kara and Ellen's support.

SleepinIn, why did you say yesterday that Kris with One Republic was "interesting". In the good sense or in the bad sense?

Also, I guess I'll keep asking my question about Kris's gigs!! When are his other gigs, like the Bahamas and all that? The Bahamas in April?

From that link:

It was good to see him - he was very friendly and he made quite an impact on the families. My hope is that his visit will keep the interest in Haiti alive and help promote the on-going work. Check out the programme on Thursday and look out for The Salvation Army.

Really nice!

LOL about the dude-looking dog!

More in the that's interesting sense. LOL! Clear as mud. I know, I know. Okay, maybe I'll try to explain. I like One Republic's music - I do, and Ryan Tedder has wrote a crazy amount of excellent songs. (Which all have a similar Ryan Tedder spin - which isn't bad because I usually like the songs) I was just glad Kris didn't go with a Ryan Tedder song on his album. They might actually be a good fit for playing together. So I actually do think it's interesting. Not in a bad way or a good way necessarily, but more in a it will be interesting to see how they work together kind of way.. does that make sense at all..? Or am I talking in circles again?

Also, I guess I'll keep asking my question about Kris's gigs!! When are his other gigs, like the Bahamas and all that? The Bahamas in April?

April 17th

March 18th for Kansas radio thing with Allison

Then I think July for the other thing.

LOL. No, I'm pretty sure I understand. I was just wondering if you were happy about it or not! I admit I do like their most recent single a lot and I think that they're a good fit for Kris to play with... more than say, the JoBros.

So, three shows in three days in the U.S. That's almost a tour! Thanks for the dates!

Interviews with the top 24 are up on the AI official site. Here's Crystal's interview, the others are accessible through there:

I've been out all day/night, just got in.

Back to: The Script jumping 8 spots on the countdown from 10 to 2, while Kris dropped to 7. Kris has been #1 twice, so he has plenty of fans, who vote. The Script? Maybe, but I can't believe that vote is genuine, for some reason. I have no idea exactly how people could manoever votes so that a jump like that by the Script could happen so fast, but it's suspicious how, of all the bands, it's The Script. It's like people other than Script fans were behind it.

Speaking of which, is it just me, or have you guys noticed the seemingly amped-up anti-Kris sentiment by the more rabid Adam fans lately? The walkout at Kradison, the rage (no other word will really do) when Kris was #1 on the VH1 countdown (especially the second time. And Adam was still #2, after all. Not a bad position). It's sick, this hatred. Obviously I have nothing against Adam's fans promoting him all they want. But that should be the limit of it. Tearing down Kris to build up Adam? That's sick.

What do you all think about the Angela Martin situation? Ellen had her on her show and promised to help her find a record deal, Kara promised to write a song for her.. um, why not just put her through to top 24 then??? Weird.

I don't think it's right, somehow. It destroys the credibility of the show (it doesn't have a lot, but it has some). Because it takes away from the significance of the making the Top 24. Why should a judge be trying to find a record deal for a contestant who wasn't considered worthy to be Top 24? That doesn't say much for the importance of making Top 24.

Besides, most of the Top 12 will never get contracts, never mind the Top 24, yet a Top 24 reject should?

In my opinion being a bleeding heart is not what being a judge is about. You're just supposed to ajudicate and try to be fair, not become invested in the contestants to that extent. I don't think it's a good sign.

I don't understand what went down for the girl to be eliminated, but apparently Ellen and Kara wanted to put her through and were stopped by Simon and Randy? Is that how it seems? If so I don't think it looks good for two of the judges to sort of go beyond the parameters of the show to see that their wishes are met. Especially while the competition is ongoing.

I have to say I have never thought Ellen using her talk show as a kind of adjunct to the Idol process (once she became a judge) is a good idea. I don't think she should talk about Idol on her show, or try to pimp contestants or former contestants. She should just be entirely separate from Idol on her talk show.

That's how I feel too (I do feel rather mean about it considering the obstacles she's had to overcome) but if they had wanted her to get a record deal why not push harder for her to be in the top 24? Isn't that the point of the whole show?

And I totally agree the judges are supposed to be unbiased and fair (of course they never are.. but they're supposed to at least try, right?)

But I do sort of agree that the help of Ellen and Kara, probably isn't going to help her all that much in the long run.

I can't see them separating Idol and the Ellen show to be honest. There are too many opportunities for cross-promotion. But I think the lines are going to get real blurry.

You're right. I have a feeling it might get problematic. If she's an Idol judge, and she talks about Idol on her talk show, where does she draw the line? How far will she go in revealing her opinions? Will she say who she favors? I don't see how she can do it without getting into trouble or making some people annoyed or mad. It won't be easy. If I were her I'd just separate the two jobs. Of course, you're right, it won't happen. But this Angela Martin stuff is an example of what's wrong with the Idol/Ellen show overlap, to me. (Supposedly she's going to have other eliminated contestants on her show as time goes on. Obviously, not all of them, so she's going to be playing favorites.)

I still think that the Angela Martin stuff isn't about her talent at all. After all, from what we've seen, the girl was nothing special as a singer. I think it's all about having a "feel-good" story of redemption for the girl (and for Kara, since her treatment of Angela during her elimination was decried pretty much by all the reviewers). Also, it brings buzz to the show, and I have no doubt that they'll use Ellen's show to talk about Idol and buzz about some stuff. Keeping the attention on Angela Martin (and let's face it, her elimination was the most talked about thing about last week's episodes) makes something to talk about for this season... which has been pretty "buzz"-less as of now, no? Still, I don't think their support will make any difference for Angela and we won't be talking about her at all in a couple of weeks when the real top 24 start having buzz moments of their own.
