I really like Chad, so I really liked it. Not as much as Kris's version but I thought Chad's was good too.

and I guess Kris is playing the Wii -- acting like a chicken? lol

Yep you found it! Never done the chicken one - but Dancing With the Stars is fun.. and you also look ridiculous for added bonus.

See my post above...in the game you have to flap your wings like a bird and land on targets.

It's not a chicken. lol. It's called "Bird's Eye Bull's Eye." When I saw the guy doing it I could picture Kris and I had to laugh, also -- like the mama. "Not the mama!"

I like Chad's version too. The mic sound is a little too treble, but accounting for that it sounds really good. I think he's one of the best people ever to have been on CI, actually -- though I guess I'm not the best judge, I missed three of the six seasons.

Some day some of us should contact Chad and let him know how much we enjoy his stuff.

Yep, I saw 2, 5, and 6.

6 was the only one I saw as it was happening. I still could watch 4 since I think it's still up at igregman's dailymotion site, but I never had a desire to. I also skipped some of 5, actually. Jaydee annoyed me a lot. lol

ETA: On YouTube I saw parts of season 3, also. And actually I have seen some of season 4. I've seen Chad and Brandon Jones, what season were they?

Okay, so I got into a slight kerfuffle on mj's blog with someone who said if Kris doesn't want to promote himself he can go back to being in a garage band. I should ignore this stuff. But anyway...

Kris does promote himself, he wasn't in a garage band, and, besides, the poster was twisting something someone originally said about Kris, that was complementary, into a negative.

About the first two points: As far as I know, Kris wasn't "in a band," pre-Idol, garage or non-garage. Someone else posted saying he was in a band, because his wikipedia article states that the two guys who played on BNS were his "bandmates." And in his pre-Idol gigs he didn't play solo, and had a band playing with him.

I said I'm sure he had a backup band (not all the time) but that he was more of a singer-songwriter, not a frontman for an actual band he was "in." *

As far as promoting himself, I think it's obvious how hard he works at that.

So my question is: as far as you guys know, was Kris ever "in a band," in the usual sense? And my other question (or request) is: if you want to read the discussion over there, can you let me know what you think? (It's in the Disney World thread-- you have to look under "older entries.") I'm interested in your opinions. TIA

* I was originally annoyed by the garage band comment just because it wasn't accurate. If Kris was in a garage band I'd have no problem with it, but he wasn't. He doesn't even play that kind of music. Also, I felt the person was using the term negatively (though I personally don't think it's a negative term), as a lot of people do. As if to say Kris had no serious musical ambitions pre-Idol, and just got lucky. A common theme of the haters.

Jaydee annoyed me as well. Still think he's a talented kid.. he's just hella annoying.

now to your question.

I don't think Kris was in a band, I think he played in clubs with various people but I don't think it was a "band" in the truest sense of the word. He played with a classical type trio or something and played at weddings.. don't think that's what they meant by band.

and he opened for that bearded guy that was on Idol, and played the same dates as Cale's band Lature. But somehow I never got the impression that Kris had a set band. I could be wrong though.. just an impression I had

Yeah, I got the same impression. No band.

and he opened for that bearded guy that was on Idol

Who dat?

That person on mj's was all about: Kris should promote himself. That was actually the main theme. I finally asked for examples, and she said, "Show some enthusiasm."

Frankly, when people say this I don't know what they're talking about, other than Kris is laid back and doesn't really seem to worry every minute if he's the biggest success in the world or getting the most attention or is the most popular person, and that seems to piss some people off so much. It has zip-nada to do with his enthusiasm, which is all for music, as it ought be.

I mean, Adam is all, "I'm so, so, excited!" but after all, the guy is gay, folks. Kris is never going to be flamboyant if that's what they want. I never seem to see Jordin or Archie or Kelly or whomever showing any different amount of "enthusiasm" than Kris. Certainly not Anoop. I mean, most people who are singers are either on the cool side or the flamboyant side. So what?

Ha. Arguing with myself.

That's good about Kris working a gig into his stay in Las Vegas. Were you really planning on going to Vegas for Christmas, SleepinIn??

I spent most of today on mj's blog (not the thread I just mentioned, the headlines thread). Kind of disappointed that the haters seem to have come back after some sort of hater vacation, wherever they go. Puerta Vaillarta, maybe. Cabo San Lucas? Fantasy Island, possibly. Because there was a good deal of fantasy in those posts today.

So I spent some time defending Kris. I tried to tear myself away but it wasn't easy. Since I have this cold and am just sitting around anyway.

Think I'll have to disappear from there for a while. It just gets too freakin weird.

Hater Vacation, lmao. Fantasy Island it is.

I think the fact that Kris doesn't care.... drives them NUTS. Kris would have been the same if he'd come in second to Adam. He didn't actually care if he won or not. Winning is good, but yeah music is the thing.

Apparently Jim Cantiello is having a twitter party right now.

I love that it drives them nuts. So much.

Kris would have been the same if he'd come in second to Adam. He didn't actually care if he won or not. Winning is good, but yeah music is the thing.

I think he cared, but he would have been exactly the same if he won or not. That little ninja has a lot of ambition, he was there to take home the gold. imho. But yeah, MUSIC is the thing. Absolutely.

Now go check out Jim's twitter party.

That's good about Kris working a gig into his stay in Las Vegas.

I'm 99% sure that gig is where they'll film his performance for the show the next day. That's what happened with David Cook last year, he filmed his performance in a club on Dec. 30th. I don't remember if it was the same club though.

And yeah, twitter parties. I'm trying to catch up. David Cook had one (where he said that his new musical vibe included more tongue-in-cheek lyrics and more "urgent" sounding music, whatever that means... sounds exciting though!). And Jim had a loooooonnng one. Reading that now.

As for the question of the band, I agree with you both, I don't think Kris was in any "garage band" before Idol. Did he play with other musicians, yes of course, but no steady band. But, as much as I like you ross, there's no way I'm going to read a thread on MJ's blog. Sorry!!

Guess I can't blame you. The first 50 or so posts were really positive about Kris, though. I often read the Kris threads and they're usually pretty good; it's nice to hear what some other fans have to say. This one troll just got in the way on that thread.

Now the Kris thread on TWoP, on the other hand...there's something about that thread, sometimes. It just is very unpredictable. I never know what I'm going to read there.

Interesting about filming the performance in the club. I assumed he'd be performing live on New Year's Eve. I thought he said he was, but maybe I'm wrong.

I didn't attend Jim's twitter party. He makes me nervous, it's like he drinks 87 cups of coffee a day.

I was kind of surprised when I read somewhere he's only 28 years old. I thought he was about 33, 34, maybe. He actually does look young, he has a smooth face, etc., but still he doesn't seem younger than Danny Gokey, to me, for instance.
