Oh, the bald guy is Daughtry. I couldn't figure that out. Wonder why he (Salas) was in Miami with Kris? To work with him and the band?

I agree with a lot of what he writes about Kalan. I know you guys aren't too into Kalan, and I've kind of lost some interest in him myself, after coming to appreciate him a while back. I think part of my disinterest comes from frustration with various things. Mainly I don't think he performs enough. I have no idea how much he's kept in some kind of box by this label and management, and maybe it's not his fault. But I think performers should perform, and I'd like to see him being more accessible. And being more down to earth as a performer (like playing small venues, playing anywhere, just being seen and heard). As a person I think he's very down to earth, and very accessible, doing meet and greets for hours, etc. But as a performer I think they just want him to be sort of above the regular scene, and... I don't know. I don't like it, it seems too "old" to me, and too dull. Like, sexless and squeaky clean. Which I pretty much happen to know is not what he's like. So this is frustrating.

This contract he's got can't last forever, right? They don't own him for life? So can't he break away, get with a good label, and do whatever the heck he wants? Oh, well, that's easy for me to say. I don't know the situation at all.

I hope not. And I agree the image the record company seems to want to project for Kalan is way too old and lifeless. And that's how I viewed his album actually. It seemed so much older than he was.

I've always thought he had an amazing voice. Maybe it's taken until now for his confidence in his own talent to reach this point? He was one of the early Idol's too. They were still a bit stuck on the older sound then.

Adam has gone up to #3 from @ #8 or #9.

Oprah effect?

Can I just say that I've been re-listening to the snippets and that I love them even more than yesterday?

November 17th? Are you there? (Though we'll probably get to hear the whole songs before that date.)

"Why can't I fast-forward life?" lol

I think the old-ness of the album (2nd album) probably had to do with him, though, too. I think he co-wrote a lot of it. I liked the stripped-down arrangements (his) that he had on his last mini-tour in Alberta and Ontario. Just him, singing and playing various instruments, his guitar player, and keyboard player. He worked out a lot of cool arrangements. He didn't rock out at all. It was different. I liked that tour best of anything I've seen him do. But that's just one side of him.

And that was a year and a half ago. He hasn't performed since, except for a benefit in BC. That's a long time. Yeah, he's been working on his album. But can't he perform occasionally? How can he ever get any career momentum going, by disappearing for so long (and not the first time)?

I didn't realize that it had been that long since Kalan performed regularly. That is a long time.

Prepare for the WORLD to explode tommorrow at 6:55 PT. lmao - or at least MJ's anyway. Will it be as epic as the cover ? ;) (I hope I like it)

I can't really get the snippits out of my head. I'm totally addicted to them.. Let It Rain.. I want more of it. Why isn't it NOVEMBER yet!! I also love, love Written All Over My Face. Since I have a live version to play over and over.
(it's actually really surprising how well the Script written songs suit Kris and almost seem like he'd written them himself - I dig it.. man)

LOL. Yeah I figured one of you would respond with that quote!

Haha, you're getting to know us too well.

I just looked at some videos I favorited from that time and the date was March 2008.

I can't listen to those snippets becuase I don't want to get 30 seconds of every song memorized. I want to hear the whole songs fairly new and fresh. So I'm depriving myself of the snippets...

I'm curious about Adam's song. I wonder if I'll like it or not, we'll see...

I just read a description of it on mj's blog...I'll see if I can find it.

Meantime: I was reading the ongoing description of the snippets on mj's and the talk was about Kris's singing style, and it was so over-analyzed that the next time I heard him, I was listening too much to his singing style. Grrr.

The description of Adam's single:

The default title track and statement of intent, masterminded by Dr. Luke (Katy Perry) and Claude Kelly (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson), Adam opens this one up, Rocky Horror-meets-Robbie Williams-style, with the audacious declaration: “I’m here for your entertainment!” And he ain’t kidding. This is an ultra-caffeinated party-starter (imagine if Mika, Sam Sparro, and Kevin Rudolf had a threesome that resulted in the conception of a glittery alien baby…if you dare), and it’s just begging to be remixed by everyone from Calvin Harris to the Neptunes to Justice–even though it sounds like a shiz-hawt remix already, as is.

I think this indeed was from Lyndsey, didn't she also listen to three tracks from Adam's CD?

Some of her description sounds good, but I'm expecting this big not subtle over-produced song, and that? Sounds less interesting.

After writing the above, I checked and, yes, the description is from Lyndsey.

My verdict on Adam's single? Heh. It's OK. I think SleepinIn will definitely dig it, but for me, while I don't mind it, I just think it sounds like everything that is on the radio today. And I listen less and less to the radio, because too much dance music is not really my kind of thing. And it barely sounds like Adam singing, but I know it was probably done on purpose. I don't think I'll buy it, but I'm sure a lot of people will. At least, it's better than TFM!

The single cover, though, is so much better than the actual album cover. So thumbs up for that.

You liked the single cover, eh? It gives me the creeps. lol

The first word that came to my mind when I heard the single was: meh.

Listened to it again and it was still meh.

If it was supposed to be like the dance music you hear on the radio I didn't think it was as good. It wasn't as catchy. I've had Lady Gaga's Paparazzi in my head for days, but this didn't grab me (I actually thought it probably would, but it didn't).

The lyrics are creepy and don't appeal to me.

So no wins here. For me. Dawg.

In my Kris-centric way, one of the first things I thought after listening to this was: I wonder what Kris's song with Claude Kelly sounded like? Any guesses?

Kris's album was at #34 on Amazon overall, and #16 in rock, this morning. Now(@3:15)it's down to #36. I hope it hasn't peaked.

This chart is instructive:

Amazon.com: Kris Allen: Albums, Songs, Bios, Photos

And discouraging.

I'm sort of seeing if I want to force myself to that Kris show in Worcester. I don't want to go if he ends up playing somewhere nearer as well. I wonder if there's a full schedule of his appearances anyplace?

...btw, how can I see his album shoot video again? If it's on his official site it's really hard to find, because I couldn't. (Why is it that hard to find? Grrr.)

Anyhow -- I somehow can't get as excited about seeing Kris doing a few songs in show with other people as I would be about a full concert of Kris. I'm kind of waiting for that.

Amazon doesn't mean a lot though. Only a small percentage of overall CD sales come from Amazon. I wouldn't be discouraged by that data only.

I just listened on MJ's to the the demo of Lady Gaga's song for Adam, and I disliked it very much.

Adam's single cover: I like it OK, I guess. It's less cheesy than the album cover and it was more what I expected his album cover to be like.

Okay, I only quickly listened to Adam's single at work today so my very first impresssion was that it was good. Not outstanding amazing, but pretty good. And like miles, and miles better than TFM. (for me, for you) At least it sounds modern, and not like cheese. It has a Sam Sparro like vibe to it. I think it will be great in clubs and will fit in on pop radio. It doesn't have a overwhelmingly uniquely Adam spin. But yeah, I like it - it's alright. I'd listen to this. It's by Claude Kelly though.. I pretty sure I'm not a big fan of Claude Kelly's.

Oh, is Adam doing a Lady Gaga cover? *innocent look* ( ;) ) - totally kidding. Adam would probably sound better on this.. but .. um, meh to the song in general right now. Totally generic.
