Other than that, I don't know, she's just too big a personality to sort of disappear and let the kids be the stars. The others (even Simon) aren't really "star" personalities who seem to need to be in the spotlight a lot.

The only think that would be good is if she really does challenge Simon in any intellignt way or oppose him and make sense (unlike Paula).

Good points. I'm sure she's going to make more sense than Paula though, that won't be hard!

Wasn't Ellen a pretty big Kris fan too? She seemed pretty thrilled when he went on her show. Not to say that she wasn't a big Adam fan, because she was, but I think maybe she wouldn't necessarily only say the things that are "approved" by TPTB.

SleepinIn, did you watch Glee? I'm going to watch it now. Too bad my DVR was working weird and didn't record the first three or four minutes...

I guess I wasn't intelligent enough to spell "intelligent" right ("intellignt").

And of course Ellen just changes the whole feel of the show to me, because it's a show about singing and music, and what does that have to do with her? It had that "industry insider" thing about it. (Even if it was bogus in some respects, I was willing to buy the premise.) Simon the promoter/star-maker, Randy the musician/producer, Kara the songwriter, Paula the singer/dancer, Ryan the Top 40 radio show host. And now...Ellen, the comedian/sitcom star/daytime talk show host?

I wonder what they're paying her? They must be paying her more than Paula. Don't you think? Yet, they weren't willing to give Paula what she asked for.

Just a guess: Ellen for one season, then Paula comes back?

That's a good point too she did let Kris sing two songs on her show + and interview.. and replayed them and posted them on the website. I could never see Ellen hesitating to speak her mind. She's a big music fan - and she loves to dance, she's always been the first to promote the Idols (or the talented peeps from Rockstar - she had a lot of them on her show too - and they didn't get the press push from a lot of places) so in that respect I could see her being a good advocate for them. I just hope it's less comedy and more judging.

Snuck out of the arena 4 some starbucks 1/2 mi away! on Twitpic (read the caption)

Scott tweeted he left the arena to go to Starbucks, half a mile away. During the show?! That's against the rules, I'm pretty sure. For obvious reasons. The guy has a tapeworm, seriously.

I'll have to wait and see, but it would have been nice if they could have given a break to someone and made them a star -- like Slezak -- instead of just choosing an established star. Someone on the level of Kara, a music industry person, would have been what I would have preferred. Or a critic, like Slezak.

I think Scott went to Starbucks earlier - because I saw that picture before the concert. It's a nice picture of him.. but seriously, all he tweets about is food. You need to branch out Scott. I don't need to hear about your dinner.

Oh, Sleazak.. my own personal dream judge.

Trugs wisdom rules - very good point. They need to stop wasting time.

alexWTrugs wasnt four judges the problem last year? who knows, maybe theyve figured out the science of fitting 6 two minute songs in a one hour slot.

From the American Idol twitter page:

We will be interviewing @ImMattGiraud and @KrisAllen4Real tomorrow. Post your questions for them, here.
How about giving these guys a rest?

Tapeworm. I'm serious.

To be fair, he sometimes talks about other things. Like lunch, breakfast, and dessert.

LOL! The six course meal almost did me in.

Must have missed that one. I follow him, but I also ignore his tweets a lot.

Just skimmed mj's blog and saw that Kris and Adam will be in Detroit on the 17th, for Ford. Them Kris is here on the 19th for that pool party. The tour ends on the 15th. I really thought maybe Kris would get a couple of days to rest, after that long tour. They really work these guys like crazy. Not even a week's vacation after the tour? Come on.

I just watched Glee!! I LOVE LOVE that show. I'm glad that you're also crazy about it, SleepinIn!

Thanks for the dose.ca mix thing also! Do they do that often or is that a one time shot? Love music and love free things also. I already spend a lot on music, so to have some free new music is awesome... though I might have to buy some albums as a result. I already own Florence & The Machine's album from the list (and Metric's too of course) and I haven't had time to listen to it all the way through yet, but I highly recommend it. I love what I've heard so far. (Also recommend Imogen Heap's new CD, it's amazing!!)

I would love Slezak as a judge, that would be too good to be true...

There is no rest if you want to be the American Idol. Didn't David Cook say to them that he didn't stop for a full year. They still have to finish their albums, then promote the albums, then perform the albums.. oh, they are not done yet.

And then you have to do it all again.

Actually, this is true for anyone in the music business that is just starting out. It's one of the reasons why Jacob and Hedley have done so well, it's also one of the reasons that so many people don't keep going. You basically have to give up your life, and you have to really want something to give up everything else for it.

GLEE, GLEE, I'm so gleeful for Glee, lol. It's like Arrested Development with songs and dance numbers.

You're welcome! It's the first time I've seen them do a whole itunes mix - If they did it before I totally missed it. But they have some cool songs on there. Including the band that Jake Gold manages the Cliks (I love the song the Dirty King). I've heard a lot of good things about Imogen Heap's new Cd - So it's good? I keep meaning to listen - but haven't yet. She was in Ontario lately and tweeted about visiting Hawksley Workman.. I love Hawksley Workman.

Yeah, pretty much. He had almost two weeks of vacation in June, but after that they got right back to the tour. I think that was his first real rest in a year. And he isn't planning to stop anytime soon. Kris is so not close to getting rest right now. It sucks, but at the same time, I'm sure these guys are living the dream...

I really don't think, say, four days off is that hard to work around. Things can be scheduled to accommodate a short rest. That seems only practical. They can't do that for these kids?

I agree with you up to a point about Jacob and Hedley, they work very hard, but they do take vacations after they tour. I think Jacob has gone to Mexico a few times. And he goes home. Also, they record near home, not all over the place. I think they can live at home when they're making a record. Not really sure.

I don't think mj ever posted that review that said Kris was "superb", and made the reviewer forget all about Adam, etc. I even sent it to her (since I was also writing to her in response to her asking if anyone in Boston had heard the right date of Kris's rooftop gig). It was only last week there was huge discussion about the negative review he got in --wherever -- St. Louis? Where the guy claimed people walked out in droves. So I thought a positive one might be nice.

Maybe it was posted and I missed it.

I think reviews do generate a lot of word of mouth, positive and negative, so they can be important. Though, not the be all and end all.

I'm doing my part.. just sayin'.. lol  Help a David out.

Help David get to 50,000 followers on Twitter! | DavidCookOfficial.com

That's awesome, SleepinIn!

Ross, while I think good reviews are in general a really good thing to have - and I don't like reading negative reviews. The thing I worry more about is a good review for the music on his coming CD. The Idol sphere is it's own separate thing in a lot of ways.

I have the exact same opinion. The CD reviews will have the most impact on potential buyers/Kris fans compared to Kris vs. Adam comparisions on the Idol tour. Well, not as much as a good single, good promotion and a lot of radio plays, but still more than the reviews from the tour.
