plus Kris was "nominated" for a Relly Award (there's voting involved.. could be another twitterwall meltdown.,. I do believe he's up against Rupert from Harry Potter.. ulp.)

I don't remember what day his category is though.

Live with Regis and Kelly - The Relly Awards

Speaking of Regis and Kelly

ETA#1:
Kris's 'No Boundaries' isn't bad at all here. What do you all think? Good decision or bad decision to leave it off the tour? I go back and forth. It's not my favourite song, and it got dinged on the tour - but it is the winner's song. So I have mixed feelings.. I think people would have responded to it later in the set.. maybe after Hey Jude...?

They were flapping on mj's today about how he should talk about that near-death experience, that he doesn't talk about enough of this stuff which could bring him publicity. I have to shake my head. I mean, who knows? Maybe he'll talk about it sometime, but I understand why he wouldn't right now. Can you picture Kris saying publicly that God gave him a near death experience in order to make him a songwriter? It's personal.
I think this is one of the things that impresses me the most about Kris. He just is. There are tons of things that he could have brought up for publicity reasons, but it's the fact that he didn't - and actually it's his Mom, or his friends, or whoever that casually mention these kind of remarkable things. I could see him talking about it casually or if he's asked about it - but I can't see him ever bringing it up just for publicity's sake.

Re: Chest hair..
"Someday When Kris grows up "
"Someday I'll be like Danny Gokey" (baby Kris voice)

I also liked the comment he made about Katy reaching through the phone to get at him.

and his defense of Ryan Tedder.. even if I don't love Ryan Tedder. lol.

oh, and MTV had another tidbit (and I do mean tidbit) with Kris. Jessi was talking about the Jonas brothers being in town and that went on to a band that they have on their label - Honor Society - who Jessi said she remembered because when she interviewed Kris she brought him a poster of himself from Teenbeat and the band was on the other side of Kris. And no one knew who they were. LOL. So a tiny bit (like 5 seconds!) of Jessi, Anoop and Kris. All looking puzzled.

Um...I'm a little confused. Who's Jessi? Is that the British chick who interviewed Kris? How did Anoop get in there?

plus Kris was "nominated" for a Relly Award (there's voting involved.. could be another twitterwall meltdown.,. I do believe he's up against Rupert from Harry Potter.. ulp.)

Dude, as long as he's not up against the ****ing Glamberts, I'm down with the Relly.

So...he's not on today's page, right? Because I didn't see him. So, you have to look at the thing each day, until he's on it? Just asking, I don't know this stuff. Maybe I'll vote.

Not to bring bad **** into this, but Kris was, like, crucified by a couple of the Midwestern critics. For some reason, this didn't bug me as it used to. I don't know why. There's something so uninformed about these crazy reviews I guess they just seem absurd to me.

Wonder when the single's dropping?

Excuse me for calling you "dude" twice in one day, but, DUDE, no. Just NO. Don't go there. NB belongs in the recycle bin. And then the recycle bin needs to be emptied.

Did you see the video's that I posted online from MTV Canada? I think it was the day of your concert.. so I will forgive you if you missed them, lol.

Jessi from the Canadian MTV Aftershow (she's on the US MTV too when they talk about the Hills but their daily show is more pop culture oriented)
YouTube - When Jessi met Anoop - The After Show
MTV Live - (Paul - different MTV show)
YouTube - MTV Live - American Idol Tour (Hamilton)

Bah, seriously. lol and no not on today's page. I think someone said the day.. but I forget. And YES. You WILL vote. LOL. He may lose, but gotta give the guy some votes.

Yeah, he was. But, I am zen about it. Those reviewers were really reviewing his style of music. Ehh.. whatever dude.

Wonder when the single's dropping?

LOL - I will back away from NB. It's just I've heard it twice today. Once when I was listening to the re-broadcast on that internet radio station with David Cook's brother. They played NB, instead of Apologize like they originally played. And I thought to myself.. hmm.. okay.. maybe.. if I'm desperate.. I could listen to this.

and then when poking about Regis and Kelly's site I saw the version he did on their show.. makes me wonder what he could have done with the song.. and it's on the radio in places.. okay, I still don't like it.. but I don't know.. if having a song on the radio (even a crappy song) is better than not?? Kris's opinion.. I'm thinking he's glad to not to have to sing it. Based soley on it's value as a song for him personally.

He may lose, but gotta give the guy some votes.

LOL - Mess? What mess? Big tour.. where everyone wants to talk to him.. no matter what they have to say in the press.. they all have something to say about HIM. If they compare him to Rob Thomas as a slight.. well there are lots of readers that like Rob Thomas.. I think it's not a bad thing at all. :)

I for one watch American Idol simply because watching the Canadian version is boring. The panel has little to offer and they are so phony it hurts. American Idol
was at least entertaining

Hi damngrumpy,

Plus CI is now GONE.. *sniff* possibly never to return.

I actually liked CI's panel more for constructive criticisim, but AI did get the entertaining part down especially when they went off the rails - but that was also a frustration for me. I sometimes wanted them to be a little less entertaining and a little more helpful. lol.

There is an interview with Zack that he did with Vote for the Worst - I can't remember when - where he talked about the differences between CI and AI in regards to the judging (I don't know if you care enough to listen to it - lol - clearly I do) but it's really interesting stuff.

Just trying to be a little tongue in cheek, I guess (doesn't translate into print). Like: all the hard work, the endless interviews, the pressure to succeed, the time away from his wife, etc. It's all a "mess", meaning, it's hard. But, also, it's not, it's amazing.

I liked No Boundaries okay, at first; I never really outright hated it, but I got tired of it really fast. It's cheesy and boring. Can you imagine watching 52 tour videos of No Boundaries? I like the replacement way better. Kris is not a No Boundaries kind of guy, and, anyway, it's a killer to sing.

You're right, I did skip that Canadian video, maybe because of the concert. I did see the one with Paul, though. That was funny.

This thread is getting a lot of attention!

Just wanted to add: Yeah, NB is Kris's single, but I think they're smart to bury it on tour. To me, Heartless is more his unofficial single. He was performing it in lieu of NB on talk shows even before NB was dropped.

Did you guys see that I linked to a story on TWoP about Zack Werner taking a DJ job with a radio station? It's on weekends, but I don't see how he could travel to all the CI auditions, and do whatever else he needs to do for CI, and do this show at the same time. But maybe he can -- I guess Seacrest does that. Still, I think it indicates CI is not coming back, don't you?

Huh, good point. I don't need to watch 300 videos of NB. I really, really don't.

Hee - I should have titled it KRIS and ANOOP meet Jessi ;)

I saw that. I don't think that's an indicator that the show isn't coming back. Zack still needs food and shelter through the winter.. he's got to work. He's a Canadian. We don't get paid a lot even for TV work. (now they probably get paid more than say.. I would.. but still) I don't think if CI was going to return there would be any indication of that happening any time soon. So he needs a job. Then again even if it does come back there's no guarantee that he will be a judge on the panel. I think Ben mentioned that a shake up on the judging panel / or host might be a good thing. So either way. He needs money. Steady money is also a good thing.

I guess I keep thinking if CI was coming back they would have to engage these people somewhat in advance of it coming back. (Well, a few months, anyway. And auditions start in January, or somehing like that. right?) Because they all need to be free to take other jobs, etc. I wouldn't think it would work out if they waited until the last minute to re-hire them.

It's possible they aren't re-hiring the same people.

Hey, if you want to read something funny, go to mj's blog and read Sunshine Girls' recap followed by the comments. She doesn't like Adam, which is always good for a laugh re the commentary that follows the recap.

They're really not going to start in January since the Olympics are on CTV - and they start in February (I think) they just don't have the cash IMHO to start up CI until after the Olympics, if at all - I could be wrong - it has happened once or twice. My thoughts are also that If they aren't on the air - they aren't being paid. I don't see them being paid a holding fee or whatever. I know Sass tweeted once about CI saying in response to a question about whether or not it was returning to ask CTV. I'd imagine they know what we know - which is nothing. There's another factor too. So You Think You Can Dance Canada was a huge hit last year.. and they replay it a lot on Much Music. I think it probably gets better ratings for re-runs than CI would so that's another factor. They went with the dancing and rested the Idol franchise. Hopefully they will revive it but I don't think it will be soon. Sadly.

I agree with all that. I guess all I mean is if you were Sass, you would probably be booking club dates and concerts a year in advance. (Maybe even outside Canada.) How could you do that and still hold time open for CI if they happen to call with the judging gig? Or maybe you could, I don't know. I guess it's possible to cancel club dates.

Funny you mentioned that because I was just thinking of that, today. They seemed to put all their eggs in that basket, huh? Funny, I don't like the dancing shows at all, except the one on MTV, America's Best Dance Crew. It's a crazy show. Don't know if you'll get this MTV-USA clip. It's hosted by "Your boy, Randy Jackson," the producer of the show.

ETA: That clip!!!! Holy ****!!! Holy four asterisks!!! He is so at ease, now. God he's so frakin' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. I'm...I think I'm gonna....yep....

Squee.

Isn't Sass is starting to tour? (I think Oliver is opening for her somewhere) but my best guess is it would depend on the money. If the money is better for her on CI she would do that... if her album is doing well she'd go that way. Rescheduling is done all the time, so if CI returned I don't think there would be a problem with moving dates around. And you're right I think it would be club dates so that would make it easier.

I like SYTYCDC but yeah, we pretty much have only one basket - lol. So if the eggs go into it, something else has to come out. When you think fall programming, CTV commits most of their programming hours to simulcasting US tv shows and that leaves really limited spots for Canadian television in prime time. So if you eliminate timeslots by what CTV has committed to you get a better idea of what timeslots are available. So for example they air Lost so anytime ABC has Lost on TV - CTV is following suit. Then if they also air something from another network that airs at the same time they would have to find a time for that.. it's all so complicated, lol.

Much Music plays America's Best Dance Crew too. And yeah I like it too. Much plays the dancing shows like almost round the clock on the weekends. (Since they're not playing videos anymore they need programming. And when you think about it dance shows are almost music videos.

ETA: Holy four asterisks!!!

*snort* falls off chair.. SQUEE indeed.

My internet conked out last night; I was going to respond but couldn't.

Just saw this on Google News: Gokey has been signed by 19E.
'Idol' label signs last of top 4, country-leaning Gokey - USATODAY.com

I just sent it to mj because she hasn't mentioned it yet. It only showed up on the USA Today site 16 min. ago, I guess.

First time they've ever signed the whole Top 4. Guess it really didn't matter which of them won, after all. In a way. Though Danny wouldn't be doing a country album if he won, that's for sure. Or even if he came in second.

I wonder if they were giving him a chance to prove himself on tour, with the Rascal Flatts songs? If so, I guess he did.

Just another country singer from the northern city of Milwaukee. But it's a state of mind, right?

Wow, that's great for Danny.

I think you're right - they wanted him to prove himself or something. Or he was resisting the country direction? Good for him though.. So he's going to be on RCA too? I wonder what the RCA vs. Jive significance is? In other words why each of them chose (or were chosen by) the specific label. There must be something. I'm intrigued. lol

Actually I think I remember reading that it's RCA that has a country music "arm" or branch. So that's why RCA, in Danny's case.

Kris's dad on twitter: @nballen (Like the photo. Weird.)
