You guys, take a few minutes and read this message from Kris, about his CD, follwed by the post from the girl who gave him the vinyl Beatles album. At first I thought it was in Ontario, Canada, but it's Ontario, California. (Not close to Berkeley, where she bought the record. I don't know where she's actually from.)

Beatles + Kris = Win | Kris Together

SleepinIn, I'm listening to the cellcast. No trouble with it tonight. Except the sound is horrendous! Lil is singing, I think. Or maybe Lil is being mugged. Hard to tell the difference. It's a Lil-like noise, anyway.

The cellcaster is a major screamer.

missaddicted, I know you don't like Jason but did you listen to his single? Any reaction? I actually was singing/humming the song on the beach, today. I mean, I suddenly realized I was. A few different times. And I'm really not a big Jason fan. (The song reminds me of the Partridge Family. Bubble gum pop. But I guess that doesn't mean it's not catchy.)

Here's what I wrote last week when we talked about Jason Castro's song the first time:

I didn't like Jason Castro's song either. But I was never ever a fan. Actively disliked him in fact, so really, I wasn't expecting much. It just doesn't sound like it's him singing. It's not how he sounded on Idol anyway. That bugged me. Good for him if he manages to be succesful though.

I still don't like him. Or the song. Or his voice (that doesn't sound like his voice in the song). Really, I don't think anything could make me become a fan of his or his songs. That's how much I dislike him.

Do Claymates lurk here? On the Twitterwall Of International Cheesedom, or whatever it's called, I see Clay has suddenly gone from obscurity to two spots behind Kris. It's all because I said he only had 97 votes, yesterday. (Sure it is.)
I guess they just discovered this thing, because today he has thousands of votes.

This is the part of the concert where Allison says the names of the three guys, and saves Kris for last, and he never gets quite as loud a scream as Adam. I wonder who these screamers are! There were none around me, I swear. People (like me) just cheered kind of normally for all three. But from somewhere else, this big scream comes.

Ahh, Danny is on...

LOL! Yeah, that seemed harsh, right? I just mainly dislike his voice and his family has also shown behavior that was really unclassy (asking fans for money, etc). He also played a show with Andy Skib (bandmate of David Cook) in Tulsa in the spring I believe and his family was supposedly really rude with fans during Andy's set and they were talking really loud. Total lack of respect for the other performer. I guess all that didn't improve the impression that I had of him during season 8.

Anyway, I almost can't believe I'll be seeing these crazy guys live in a little more than a month *squee*:

YouTube - David Cook & The Anthemic GROUP SHOWER!! OMG!

I guess I never asked: have you seen them live before? Or is this the first time?

Yeah, I don't know much about him, or season 8, but I heard vague rumblings about his mother or his family on VFTW.

Myself, I have a kind of instinctive dislike for him. I just don't trust him. Strange, eh?

Kris is singing All These Things...

Not really a criticism, but I hope he doesn't do too much like this in the future.
I heard Heartless on the radio today, and that is really the Kris I like. I don't think he needs to sing in the lower register this much. It's not where he shines, in my opinion. Plus, he has no real "nuance" in this song. My reaction has always been: Big deal, anyone can sing this. (That isn't true, of course.)

Now...Ain't No Sunshine...that's different.

KC likes them some Kris.

No, it'll be the first time! I mean, I watched a few (or a lot!) of youtube videos, but I've never seen them in person. They've been all over the U.S., but the closest they've been to me is in Northampton, MA and even that was more than a five hour drive. But, the Clifton Park, NY date was just too good to pass, especially with the free lodging and the party with other fans. I guess the Canadian dates should be announced soon also. Wishing really bad for a Montréal date, but not necessarily expecting it.

Smith College? Hey, maybe next year Kris will be playing some of these towns. I keep forgetting that.

Wow, so you never saw David Cook (and the Anthemic?) live. You're going to love that, I'm sure. By the way, why are they playing Clifton Park, NY, anyway? Is there a venue there for bands, or is there a college, or what? Any idea?

Back to the concert for a minute...or something...What I got from that message from Kris is that he's got a lot of his album finished. What I wonder about is how he can even have a voice, at this point. Do you guys ever notice any differences in his voice? I get curious about this stuff.

So, you guys, do you think I should go to this concert again? There's Providence, RI,
Portland, ME, and Manchester, NH (the final concert). I may be on vacation in Maine when the Portland show happens.

Rickey just suddenly screamed for no reason. Scared the **** out of me.

The thing about The Killers song is that surprisingly few people know it. That never fails to surprise me, but I've seen it referred to in a number of different ways.

I think Kris sings it really well, I just don't think it has the energy that it could have (and again this is solely from youtube views.. so I might not have any idea what I'm talking about) whether it's the giant hole in the floor, or relying on the guitar (and I like the guitar a LOT) but when I think about Kris when he was singing with David Cook at GMA - he had a ton of energy on stage and I'd love to see that energy come across more within ATTID. There's my constructive critiscim for the day, lol.

and wow, you're right about the Clay fans. They are dedicated. I am stepping away from the wall. lol.

The show was at the Pearl Street Night Club. It was in May, when they had already started doing shows in other venues than colleges.

(I didn't know the venue by heart of course, that would've been disturbing. Here's the list of all of Cook's tour dates: The Declaration Tour - 2009 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. They're still adding some dates though, but it could be interesting to see if Kris will be in similar venues next year.)

Yes, they're playing a place called Northern Lights. Some other relatively known bands are also playing there around the time that David is, like The Veronicas. I don't know why they're playing there exactly. maybe it was cheaper to play there than in Albany directly. They've been to pretty random places during the tour, but they've managed to cover a lot of territory. I guess they know a lot of the fans are willing to travel to go see a show!

I always mean to mention this. I don't think that hole in the floor opens up as soon as it used to. I may be wrong, but it seems they finally figured that out, or so it seems from YouTube.

When Theo and Mitch and those guys sang this on the CI Top 3 tour, it was about the same as when Kris does it. (Except he does it better.) I don't think it's as much of a high energy, rocking song as it seems. It's not Johnny B Goode.

Johnny B Good

Imagine if Kris did that one! lol

I think he does a good job, it's just the song isn't a really rocking song, and I'm not sure there's much he can do within that song to be more energetic. I think the lack of familiarity with it for a lot of the audience might be a problem.

Thanks for the David Cook info, missaddicted. Can't wait until you recap the show for us.

Hello hello85. :)

Some interesting interviews with Kris.

Blogs @ herald-dispatch.com: Idol Chit-Chat: Kris Allen: "I'm nuts"

I really liked what he said in this one in regards to normality. I like hearing that he's as nutty as we are, lmao. It's reassuring somehow. ;)

K: Maybe. That’d be nice. I don’t wanna make me though. I don’t think the world could deal with two of me. I couldn’t deal with two of me. I’m nuts.
A: You’re nuts?
K: Yeah. I know I don’t seem it, but I really am.
A: Now, you’ve got to expand on that. What do you mean by that?
K: I’m not normal.
A: Okay.
K: But who is? Are you normal?
A: No.
K: There we go. You don’t seem like a normal person.
A: Thanks, Kris, I appreciate that.
K: It’s a compliment, I promise. Because what is normal? Normal’s not cool. Normal’s boring. People would say I’m boring, though.
A: See, I don’t believe that.
K: Until you get to know me. And I feel like we’ve gotten to know each other.

The Milwaullke interviews are up.

And this one talks with Kris's mom about Kris being very ill on his mission trip and subsequently writing the music for Brand New Shoes.

Kris Allen’s faith is quiet but strong

oh, and MTV had another tidbit (and I do mean tidbit) with Kris. Jessi was talking about the Jonas brothers being in town and that went on to a band that they have on their label - Honor Society - who Jessi said she remembered because when she interviewed Kris she brought him a poster of himself from Teenbeat and the band was on the other side of Kris. And no one knew who they were. LOL. So a tiny bit (like 5 seconds!) of Jessi, Anoop and Kris. All looking puzzled.

Hey, thanks for the Kris media blitz. I wish there was another way to say, "I like that guy so much," because I've said it enough. Funny, I read criticisms of his interview skills or his personality, and I guess whatever he does or is works for me, that's all.

Hey, what did he say, when he said something like "I won...suckers..."? I couldn't make it out. I laughed out loud at one thing he said, now I forget what. Also laughed at the print interview, at his winner/weiner joke.

They were flapping on mj's today about how he should talk about that near-death experience, that he doesn't talk about enough of this stuff which could bring him publicity. I have to shake my head. I mean, who knows? Maybe he'll talk about it sometime, but I understand why he wouldn't right now. Can you picture Kris saying publicly that God gave him a near death experience in order to make him a songwriter? It's personal.

Besides, he might just as well just say he has a dead wife. People would be all over him.
