Well, tonight wasn't the almost expected trainwreck, even though it was full of mediocre, as I thought it would.

Lil: Shut up Lil. Her need to always defend herself is really putting me off. I know the judges have given her contradictory comments a few times, but she's just not good. She has to go home tomorrow, I won't accept any other option.

Kris: Amazing!!! See ross, Kris is good with disco music! I love that he's showing us his style and what he would do with his own music (in fact, this performance reminded me of his own pre-Idol music). He was definitely the most original and pretty much the best of the night for me. Be safe Kris, you deserve to go to the end!

Danny: Ugh, so mediocre and unexciting. And he didn't sound sexy, Paula, he sounded shouty. He does the same old thing every week and I'm now incredibly bored and tired of him.

Allison: I enjoyed her this week! I still have big issues with her enunciation, but at least, she brings the excitement and the attitude!

Adam: Amazing vocals once again and props for not sounding karaoke and cheesy. I admit I'm a bit tired of the uptempo and OTT one week and ballad the next week. I guess when they get to the top 5 and they do two songs, he will at least be able to do them both in the same night!

Matt: Good and bad for me (for you, for me). LOL at the song choice though! I liked his energy and most of his vocals. The trouble is that when he moves like this, he just reminds me once again that he's a poor man's JT. And I'm not a big JT fan at all. Also, his falsetto is still scary.

Anoop: So mediocre and boring once again. Pretty vocals (except for the last note), but I just don't care. And the facial hair and the pink shirt didn't do it for me. Also, when the "beat" kicked in, it became even more cheesy if it could even be possible.

I hope Anoop and Lil go home, it's really their time I think. If not Anoop, then Matt. Or Danny? Yes, yes Danny! But it won't happen. Keep Adam, Kris and Allison America and I'll be happy!

I hope you're voting for Kris, ross!

I'm glad that you're voting ross! Wish I could join you.

I agree that Allison wasn't brillant at all. Still, I find her more interesting than Lil, Matt, Anoop and Danny. The thing is, Simon was so blatant with his manipulations tonight: "OK, so I have to put Lil, Anoop and Matt under the bus, I have to pimp Adam and Allison, I have to slightly depimp Danny once again, and Kris, well, it will depend on his performance". I really think Simon wants an Adam/Allison final 2 and he's working for it right now! Also, he doesn't seem to have an agenda with Kris like he does with the others. Maybe that means he would be perfectly okay with Kris making the top 3.

About Matt: I respect his musical talent, more than Danny's, Lil's or Anoop's. I think he must be a pretty good musician. I'm just not a fan of his voice and what he does with it. It's just not pleasant to my ears most of the time. I wouldn't buy his stuff. And I think Kris is really better at showing who he is as an artist if I compare him to Matt.

I think your comparision between Theo and Adam is appropriate. Adam doesn't reach me like Kris does for sure. I guess that's what he has to really learn now, since he must prefer to perform as a character instead of as his "vulnerable" self. Theo was the same during Idol for me. But I really adore Lazy Lovers now, especially his acoustic version. That reaches me. I don't think Adam will be singing ballads though when he's done with AI! And that's all right with me!

Totally. But as usual he's not doing great in Dial Idol results.

Don't look at DI. It's really useless this season. Right now, it's predicting that all of them are within the margin of error and that any of them could be bottom 3. Also, in the raw numbers, Kris is doing well. Anyway, I won't stress myself with the results from DI this week.

You're right, but I kind of enjoy some of it. I'm not sure how to read some of the graphs, what they mean, exactly, etc. If you look at the map, and who is winning each state, my state (Massacusetts) is going for Danny Gokey. This is kind of surprising, but, from the start, all the people I spoke to (like my dentist!) liked Danny.

I admit I'm a bit tired of the uptempo and OTT one week and ballad the next week.

Good point (about Adam). I was going to mention this, myself. Guess it seems to be working!

Oh. I meant to tell you. I did read that story about Kris on his fan site. Nice!

Meant to mention this earlier, also: a few hours ago I was talking to a friend who spent the weekend in Quebec City. He raved about Archambault Musique, he spent about 150 bucks on CDs he said he couldn't find anywhere else.

I agree almost completely with you guys - It's almost scary, lol.

Kris was by far the best of the night for me. I can't fault Adam's vocals AT ALL but when Kris performed it was completely Kris and yet it was contemporary and I could imagine it on the radio - hands down winner for me tonight. I just wanted him to keep playing.

Adam - His vocals were flawless as usual, but I wasn't into the song or the arrangement really. That being said he is a star on the stage and the guy can sing.

Allison - when I watched this I thought about what a great singer and performer she'll be in a couple of years and I can't wait to see what happens with her career. I just don't think she's mature as a performer yet - and although she has a voice and stage presence it's not quite her time yet.

And those are the only three that interested me. So they can lose 2 or 3 or 4 tommorrow and I will be a happy gal as long -- as they keep those three.

I like the way you think! lol

SleepinIn, ever since I first read your posts on another forum, I've often wished I could put things as concisely as you do and yet say so much.

I just voted for Kris for a good while.

Yes, Archambault is a great store: CDs, DVDs, books, intruments, etc. I haven't bought a "physical" CD in years though. Yay for iTunes. I hope your friend enjoyed Québec City!

Yes, I could watch the Adam/Kris/Allison show for the rest of the season and it would be perfect.

He had a great time, also went to Montmorency Falls, Ste. Anne de Beaupre, Plains of Abraham, etc...and since I've mentioned Hedley a few dozen times to him, he was happy to be able to tell me (Jacob fan) he saw a guy wearing a Hedley t shirt. I guess you'd have to live here (where nobody's heard of them) to understand why that seemed like a big deal.

More on the Kris guitar story...

"I was there. He had to use my guitar for the rest of the trip. :) Our campus pastor said I had better not give mine away. Haha!
I have thought about posting something about the story for a while, but I kept thinking that it was not my place and I wasn't sure of all the details, though I was on the trip, he was really vague about it. Just sort of stated it matter-of-factly, and I asked him why, he just said he felt like God was telling him to give his guitar away.
The story sounds too good to be true, but it is. It totally is. I'm privileged to know him."

Aw, thanks Ross. It's funny though since I always think I don't explain myself properly and leave out things I really should say to complete my thought. No matter how I try -- my thoughts are never all that long. LOL That's probably a bad sign. :)

Crossing my fingers for tonight you guys.

I have to admit that one good thing about this season is its predictability in terms of the results. Pretty much every week since the beginning of the finals (except Alexis maybe), the expected contestant(s) have been voted off. I'm actually glad that I won't have to watch Lil and Anoop anymore on the show. They would have deserved separate "goodbye" videos though. I was a bit surprised to see Allison in the bottom three, I don't think she really deserved it, I thought Danny and Matt were worse than her. But Kris was safe, which is the important thing (Adam too, but that was expected!).

The group number was interesting. The dancing was pretty good. Kris really is a good dancer! But I guess I would still prefer hearing them sing that watching them dance at this point.

I could have done without the disco medley or whatever it was. I was not entertained.

It was nice watching Archie do an uptempo song and it's actually one of the only songs I like from his album (as cheesy as it is). He seemed more alive than when he was on the show. His voice sounded rough though. He has an history of problems with his vocal chords, I hope they're not letting him down.

Change of topic: Scott did his interview with Slezak on Idolatry and while I didn't really want to watch it, I read (reliable) comments that he came across as arrogant. He apparently said that he was an accomplished songwriter, that he was current and that he thought he had a great voice and was versatile. I don't know if it's because people have always been patronizing with him (like the judges) because of his disability that he believes all these things, but he's due for a shock in the real world. People were really turned off by his attitude during the interview. Anyway, I don't want to bash him, but I think he's due for a reality check, he's just not that good.

So, top 5 baby! The finale is in four weeks! Time goes by fast! I wonder if they're going to be singing two songs next week.

So last week Matt was at the bottom, eliminated, then saved. This week he wasn't even bottom three!

Poor Anoop. He was safe last week (ahead of Lil and Matt), and would have been safe this week, with Lil going home, had it not been for the save.

Sure, he wasn't going to win, but he would have gotten to stick around until next week, at least. Possibly longer. Instead, because of the save, Matt does.

I guess that's show biz. Idol style.

Choreograhy! When I read mj's blog today, about there being something on tonight's show that had never happened on idol before, and that it involved Paula, and that the idols were sworn to secrecy about it, and that it was disco week, I actually did the math and figured it meant either she was going to choreograph the group number, or else perform, herself. (Heh. Glad it was the former.)

Was that a group number from Season 2 of Canadian Idol I was watching?

So You Think You Can Dance, Idols?

I loved it. With all that these guys have to do all week, learning that choreography? Props!

Kris is the best dancer of the group (no arguments, I'm not listening. *hands over ears, a la Chandler Bing* "...lalalalala....").

I've heard it said Adam is the only one that can move, this season. Love the Lambert ("Pee-pul gettin' loose" lol), but he's not really a dancer. He was a lot of fun in the group number, though. Second best dancer: Matt G. Sounded best (pre-recorded, but you can't blame them this time): the bottom three, Anoop, Allsion, and Lil. I have to give Danny credit for giving it his all (and he wasn't bad, either). That's one thing about him: he never isn't totally invested in what he's doing. Even if I usually don't like what he's doing.

Disco divas, plus KC (who looked like this in his prime): I guess it is what it is. Disco was at least happy, uncomplicated, fun music. Hard for people to understand that it wasn't ever meant to be great art.

Speaking of which: Archie is such a little pop idol. (Randy is not that much taller than him. Wow.) I have to say I like him more now than I did last season, when I occasionally tuned in and could not believe his gosh-oh-gee befuddled thing was for real. I wish I could express how I feel when I see someone like him, post-idol, doing semi-drek pop when on the show some of the things he sang (like Apologize, with OneRepublic) were so much more than that. Can't these people be great after the show, too? Give them some decent music to sing. (I'm not talking about Cook here; I like his stuff).

Are you guys happy with the top five?

I'm watching Simon and Randy on my local Fox station: Simon: feels bad for Lil, because "she's a great singer and, you know, she needed the break."

What's next week's theme?

(Off topic: Bruins beat Canadiens...)

Yeah, I wasn't really surprised. I think (hope?) he's done next week though. Well, I hope Danny is done next week, but I'm not sure it will happen just yet.

She actually anounced that she was doing that while she was on a radio show last week. Pretty useless that the idols were sworn to secrecy about it!

I loved it. With all that these guys have to do all week, learning that choreography? Props!

I bet they would've prefered more rest time though. Cook always seemed like a trooper about the group sings last year, but he later pretty much admitted that he felt they were a waste of time, time that could've been used for something else, like more time to prepare their songs.

I've heard it said Adam is the only one that can move, this season. Love the Lambert ("Pee-pul gettin' loose" lol), but he's not really a dancer.

Really? I think he's a very good dancer! He demonstrated as much in a few of his youtube videos that are out there. But I think all of them did an impressive job at dancing!

I have to watch that group dance again. Kris had a nice fitting shirt too!

Are you guys happy with the top five?

Yes. As long as Kris, Adam and Allison are the final three! I'm not convinced it will happen. I think the Gokey is going to be there instead of Allison or Kris. I'm crossing my fingers that he isn't though!

(Off topic: Bruins beat Canadiens...)

What a surprise! Not. The Habs have been a mess lately.

I've been a little disappointed with some of the themes/song choices this year.
Disco? C'mon!

One thing AI has alwayz lacked in my eye was good ol' fashioned rock. Give me CCR, Bob Segar, Gordon Lightfoot, Joe Cocker etc.

Plus they give country music only one week. I happen to love country music and in my eye there are so many great songs to choose from, more than one week would be more suffice. Especially considering a lot of song choices lean toward slower ballad selections.

Alley...where have you been? Did you help your friend pass his exam? Thanks for the PM welcoming me to the forum (a while ago). I would have mentioned it before but I just saw it the other day. Ha.

missaddicted...For me (dawg), Adam isn't a bad dancer, but he's not natural or graceful, and his moves are kind of...not too precise (if you look at that group number). Kris is sort of naturally cool as a dancer, he has innate rhythm. And athleticism. Just...natural. It's kind of similar to how these two sing, for me. Adam is more: working hard and he wants to show you the effort. Kris is more effortless (not really, just how he makes it come across). And I think Kris is more of a musician, Adam more of a performer. Both are awesome, anyhow, in their different ways.

Hey Ross1, yeah spent every single evening tutoring with only the odd break. Which involved learning the material myself first. My brain hurts just thinking about it. Although we covered a ton of material, my best friend did not take the final exam. He's not quite ready, although he has made leaps and bounds. Luckily he gets another crack at the exam soon. Good to hear from ya, btw. I've been blown away by Adam Lambert's performances thus far, can't wait till next week!

Simon reveals who he thinks should be the final 2. Big surprise.

Guess it doesn't matter that Kris is outdistancing Danny in iTunes downloads. Does Simon really think Danny will sell a lot of CDs and downlowds?

I was in a record store today, and in the discount bin there were a lot of CDs by various Idol runners up. Which is where Danny's CD will be in a couple of years, imho.

I'm not too surprised about Simon's comment either. I'm not sure it really represents what he would want, but probably more what is going to happen according to the vote totals up to now (Simon must know the vote totals I guess). Either way, I think the only thing Simon really wants right now is an Adam win. I still get a kick of reading that a lot of people think that the only other possible scenario could be a Adam/Kris final 2. I never even thought he would make it to the finals after his lack of airtime and there he is in the top 5! His buzz is also growing and more and more people are actually talking about him.

The iTunes data was really interesting and I was glad to see Kris before Danny, Matt and Allison. Adam was dominating even more that I thought he would have. Pretty much all his songs were outselling the songs from the other Idols, except for one or two from Kris.

Have you seen the ridiculous article that was in the National Enquirer (posted on MJ's blog) reporting the feud between Kris and Adam? Some reporters have time to waste. The paper was full of stereotypes about "gay" Adam and "good religious boy" Kris, it's really sad. At the same time, it was really funny since I don't see how someone could believe that there would be a feud between the two, they seem to get along really well!
