This finale beat last year's. I liked the humor and I enjoyed the group numbers - especially the guys, which was looses and fun. Scotty sang the one Tom Jones country hit, which reminded me that this season, you can never go out of your wheelhouse on Idol (probably, because you can't), never do a single creative thing, and still win it all. All hail Nigel.
Everyone seems to be so excited about Scotty, which I guess is nice because he's young and all gosh, gee whiz, etc., but he's meh, THIS BIG. I wrote something on MJ's which I won't bore you all with but I basically said I miss musical maturity on this show.
I think this season isn't going to encourage too many Cooks, Castros, Archies, Crystals, Lees, Adams, or Krises to audition in the future - and honestly I don't think I can watch another season like this! SORRY TO BE SUCH A KILLJOY! I refrained from posting last night because I didn't want to kill the mood!
You know, look at Archie, who was 17 or something, at the time. Classy. Musically, he knew what he was doing and even had some taste and maturity. I'm not a huge Adam fan but he obviously knew music, turned his fans on to new music they never heard, probably. How many older people listen to Muse, or Goldfrapp? I don't need to go into the musical maturity and creativity of our own huge faves, who shall remain nameless for once. lol. Compared to Scotty, Lauren - and everyone in the finals - these people come across as musical geniuses.
