LOL. Instead of singing his sappy song, he just went on to hug EVERYONE. Then he tried to catch confetis with his mouth.

LOL That was hilarious and awesome. Also amazing - Casey and James the comedy duo.

Steven Tyler is the only one who should ever sing Dream On, and JLo and Marc Anthony.. lol gettin down.

This was a pretty great finale. Loved Haley and Tony and James and Judas Priest. Casey and Jack Black made me laugh. Gaga was good, but not as good as Steven.

Beyonce is gorgeous. Not into her song. Tom Jones.. 10 minute medley lulz.

Kris on the Red Carpet with Allison (also Casey)

I taped David too. But haven't converted it.

Hi everyone!

Very entertaining finale tonight! It was funny to see Jack Black on stage, and Tim McGraw put on a entertaining performance as well. I really enjoyed it!

Big surprise that Scotty got the win. Him and Lauren are both very talented but I think Lauren had a better finale performance.

Scotty's finale song "This Big" is probably one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

Looking forward to next season!!!

In the meantime how bout we get Canadian Idol back?! Can you imagine the talent pool that's built up by now?!!!!

That'd be great, but it's not happening. Maybe we'll get X-Factor one day.

We are getting Star Académie back next winter here in Québec though. They do one every three years or so now, which I really like.

Beautiful couple right here! Kris and Katy Allen pic #2 on Twitpic

Yeah, right below No Boundaries for me. Which is saying something. LOL

Wow, Kris and Katy really look gorgeous there that's a beautiful picture.

That'd be great, but it's not happening. Maybe we'll get X-Factor one day.

Canadian Idol or X Factor would be great. I always loved CI more. Probably because the contestants were a little freer to be themselves and the music was better. Zack was on tv the other day talking about the new crop of talent shows X Factor and The Voice. I don't like to get my hopes up though, CTV is cheap.

What did Zack say about the other talent shows? I'm curious...

From Shirley Halperin on twitter:

Lauren on whether she and Scotty are dating: "Everyone keeps asking and all I have to say is, ask Scotty. I will never tell."

Did Lauren pretty much confirm that they actually are dating? They ARE cute together.

Where's ross?

Ah, Shirley tweeted a bit later that Scotty said that Lauren was just joking.

This finale beat last year's. I liked the humor and I enjoyed the group numbers - especially the guys, which was looses and fun. Scotty sang the one Tom Jones country hit, which reminded me that this season, you can never go out of your wheelhouse on Idol (probably, because you can't), never do a single creative thing, and still win it all. All hail Nigel.

Everyone seems to be so excited about Scotty, which I guess is nice because he's young and all gosh, gee whiz, etc., but he's meh, THIS BIG. I wrote something on MJ's which I won't bore you all with but I basically said I miss musical maturity on this show.

I think this season isn't going to encourage too many Cooks, Castros, Archies, Crystals, Lees, Adams, or Krises to audition in the future - and honestly I don't think I can watch another season like this! SORRY TO BE SUCH A KILLJOY! I refrained from posting last night because I didn't want to kill the mood!

You know, look at Archie, who was 17 or something, at the time. Classy. Musically, he knew what he was doing and even had some taste and maturity. I'm not a huge Adam fan but he obviously knew music, turned his fans on to new music they never heard, probably. How many older people listen to Muse, or Goldfrapp? I don't need to go into the musical maturity and creativity of our own huge faves, who shall remain nameless for once. lol. Compared to Scotty, Lauren - and everyone in the finals - these people come across as musical geniuses.

I don't disagree with you at all ross. Your points are totally valid and I agree about the lack of creativity from this season and especially from Scotty and Lauren. In the end, I think Slezak perfectly summed up how I feel about Scotty's win:

Scotty, for his part, is not a perfect Idol winner. His Season 10 run was one that favored a brand of hardwired musical consistency over qualities like artistic derring-do, moment-making creativity, emotional beauty, or vocal explosiveness. But he certainly took us on a journey, starting as a polite, baseball-playin’ kid who wowed the judges with the impossibly low tones of Josh Turner’s “Your Man,” detouring through a Hollywood Week nightmare that threatened to turn him into a joke (“nuts of wonder”) or a pariah (Jacee Badeaux-gate), and then reemerging as a legitimate threat for the crown with a steady stream of country ditties and very few missed notes over 12 weeks of live competition. I can think of a lot worse ways to bring an Idol season to a close than watching Scotty try to catch confetti on his tongue. The Season 10 champ is a very good singer who still has room to grow once he leaves the show, and he seems awfully likable, too.

Thanks, missaddicted. I mostly agree with Slezak. I think he was trying to be nice - but I don't have to be - :) - So, I'll have to disagree Scotty is a "very good singer" (though that wasn't huge praise, was it?). I'd say, "good." I also think he did miss a lot of notes - though Idol is not a technical vocal competition, so it doesn't matter.

I'll tell you what, though - people underestimate how important likeability is in a singer. Often I'll read on the boards, "He/she won because he/she was likeable." Okay - so - what part of the word "Idol" don't they get? Something about them has got to be very ATTRACTIVE - or they aren't going to ATTRACT anyone. No matter their talents. It's always part talent, part charm, part looks - just like it is in real-life show business. Plusses for Scotty are his voice, his simplicity, likeability, youth, and charm. Minueses are the things Slezak talked about. No Idol (and no real-life idol) has it all, equally. But you can almost always see why someone won.

Except Lee. Still don't totally get that one. I'm not being facetious. I get it, but I don't get it.

Speaking of Lee, I saw today he'll be playing in Boston in July. Also, Mat Kearney will be opening for Owl City at the House Of Blues. And Reel Big Fish will play HOB two or three days later. Lee is booked into a smaller - but still a pretty good - room.

I don't know if you want me to upload the David Cook on the red Carpet thing since it's up on youtube already (with a slightly different angle) but let me know if you want it and I'll do it. :)

Zack basically said that there was a lot of competition and that each show really has to work to keep the viewers.

Lee vs. Nigel - have to pick Lee on this one. That wasn't very classy of Nigel to ask for Lee to do that - with 2 minutes to go in the broadcast. I know he's making a tv show and not there to help further their music careers once they've won, but if you don't promote and celebrate your own - don't expect anyone else to. TwitLonger: Hey everyone, first off I want to say congrats to Scotty & Lauren, awesome job. Well done Scotty

Now I'm running off to watch random interviews.

Thanks for the offer about the Cook interview, but I'm fine. I spend most of my days off the computer these days, so I just don't have time to watch all those interviews!

Earlier today, I caught that something had happened between Lee and Nigel last night, but I didn't know what it was. Reading Lee's tweet, I understand the situation better and I'm definitely in Lee's corner as well.

What?? That's crazy. I'm not sure what Nigel was asking Lee to do, though. Announce the winner?

Anyhow, that's ridiculous. And insulting. Lee did what anybody with any self respect would do, and he probably was polite about it. (This isn't the first insult he's had from these people - remember how Ken Warwick supposedly told this year's auditioners how awful and boring the Season 9 performers were?)

Even though these people (Idol producers) have a lot of power, I love it when people refuse to kiss their ass.

And I know some people think Nigel and his tweets are cute, or something, but he's such a childish, petty ass. I have no use for this guy.

According to someone on MJs who was there, Seacrest did introduce Lee to the Nokia audience during a commercial break. Also Adam. Kris was sitting right behind Adam, but Seacrest apparently skipped him. Well, he's pretty short. lol

Maybe he was taking a pee.

I've linked to Lee's interviews here a couple of times because of how I thought he came across. I was impressed by him. He really gets asked some tough questions, but his answers sound genuine. I'm sure he'd rather be a raging success, but he acts as if he doesn't care - and the fact is, he wouldn't be getting gigs like the one I mentioned this July in Boston if he hadn't won.

I spent some of my night at work (I work late Thursdays) listening to Kris's pre-Idol interviews. Especially loved the Cantiello red carpet interview, but all the radio interviews were good. Kris has learned to talk really fast, now! lol. On certain sites...he got flak for his slow delivery, but if you've ever been down south...people do talk much more slowly and even walk more slowly. Anyhow, he has changed and even though I always thought he was god, he does it like a pro, now. :) And yet he's still Kris.

lol at Jimmy Iovine surrounded by huge bodyguards. Somehow I don't think the guy from Sony - whover he was - would have been.

I always thought he was god,

Well I knew you liked him Ross but god? Really? ;)

I haven't listened to the radio stuff, but Kris's response to the waiting paps was from this and Kris is just so chill. (Lizzie and Jesse at the beginning)

and Lee, you know. People are so quick to judge and point fingers based on sales there are so many factors, sure Lee could have worn Kermit, and played guitar in his underwear, drenched himself in fake blood for a million in sales - and I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing Lady Gaga clearly knows how to market herself - but there are perceived stars that didn't sell the number of albums that Lee did. It's a tough business at the moment, and elevating your profile in the world is all you can really expect out of Idol, it did that for Lee and hard work is going to have to do the rest, and that goes for Kris, Adam and whoever. Sometimes your just not going to be the artist that wears kermit.. and that's okay.

lol at Jimmy Iovine surrounded by huge bodyguards. Somehow I don't think the guy from Sony - whover he was - would have been.

Well, Jimmy looks short so there's that.

Nigel should have left it alone, took his lumps from Lee's fans and let it go. That was really petty. I think Nigel is great for Idol, and makes good tv but, he needs to know when to back away from twitter and respect your own contestants.

and I told you Kris and Adam were sitting near each other! :)

I'm glad I don't follow Nigel on twitter. I just read what he wrote on twitter about Lee today and I couldn't actually believe that the tweet was written by a middle-aged man and not a six-year old child.

Lee could have worn Kermit, and played guitar in his underwear, drenched himself in fake blood for a million in sales

Or simulated intercourse on a family TV show. I'm not a prude, but her performance last night was really tasteless. Get dressed Gaga. So tired of her act.

I'm not sure Nigel is good for Idol at all - maybe just the opposite - but let's not argue about him. We agree he's a jerk at times. :p

Well, Jimmy looks short so there's that.

I guess! But I was thinking - Interscope produces a lot of rap, and there's violence in the rap world - so - this guy must actually need protection as he walks around LA. Sad as that may seem. I'm just saying we're not in Kansas anymore.

I haven't listened to the radio stuff, but Kris's response to the waiting paps was from this and Kris is just so chill. (Lizzie and Jesse at the beginning)

What was his response? (Don't tease me! lol)

Listen to the radio stuff here. Short, sweet, funny, and good.

Freudian slip!

That reminds me of a joke. A guy was talking to his psychiatrist. He says, "Doctor, I made a Freudian slip today. I was having breakfast with my wife. I meant to say, 'Could you pass the toast?' and instead I said, 'You've made my life a living hell, you f*cking bitch."

Oh, and - here's Kris with Reeve Carney - Spiderman - who people apparently thought resembled Kris, on the finale.

Reeve Carney and his girlfriend Lisa Origliasso of The Veronicas are friends of Adam's. There are some pics of them hanging out together. Reeve is a cool guy!
