Yes, David did seem nervous and a little hoarse to me as well. And yeah, since it's the first time they were performing the song live in front of an audience, I don't blame him. And I still remember when he sang LO on SNL in November 2008, there he pretty much looked terrified and he was apparently even dry-heaving before the show. So even though he says that he feels comfortable on the Idol stage, I'm sure performing you new song for the first time in front of 20 million people is stressful!
Cool about the band. I appreciate these guys a lot. Of course, I know that they have a lot of benefits from performing in David's band ($$$), but still, these guys kind of put their respective individual musical projects on hold (well, they're still working on them, but probably not as much) to support their friend. I mean, Neal was involved in a more hard-rock band (which is probably the music he prefers doing) but when David asked him to be there to record on his first album and be part of his band, Neal left everything and joined his BFF. I'm pretty sure that if you had told Neal a few years ago that he would perform on the Idol stage at least 4 times, he would have laughed in your face! So, I know these guys probably appreciate the steady gig, but they do it whole-heartedly and do everything to support David.
David did several phone interviews today... I grabbed some information on twitter, since I didn't listen to any (how do the other fans have time to do this and find the time to work and do life-stuff, I don't have the time!!!). He said that Simon Fuller asked him like a year ago if he wanted to do this year's boot song.
Also, we now know several song titles from This Loud Morning. TLG of course. Paper Heart, which is the song he performed in Vegas a couple of weeks ago. Goodbye to the Girl, which is a song he co-wrote with Neal and Andy from the band. And today, he said that the first song on the album is called Circadian (definitely very Cook-ian as a title, seriously, LOL). And the last song is called R.E.M. for Rapid Eye Movement. The title of the album comes from a lyric in this song.
Fans of course analysed the album cover and the main observation is that there are a lot of symbols of mourning in the picture (what David is wearing, etc). And also the obvious This Loud Morning (Mourning). He said that he talks a lot about some fresh open wounds on the album. So he probably wrote a lot about his brother's passing.
Gosh, I hope you guys won't be tired of all this Cook stuff by the end of June! A new album coming out is always exciting.
Talking about exciting, I just upgraded my pre-order of the album from DCO. They're offering some deluxe packages coming with the album:
David's exclusive new Fan Edition includes the This Loud Morning Deluxe CD/DVD along with an exclusive EP featuring never-before-heard acoustic performances of several songs from This Loud Morning! And just like every album pre-order made on David's official store, you'll get an instant download of David's new single, "The Last Goodbye" and his critically acclaimed cover of Simple Mind's "Don't You (Forget About Me)."
Plus, as a special thanks to his tremendous fans, David's going to include the names of those who pre-order the Fan Edition in the packaging of the Acoustic EP! But hurry up and place your order today as we can only fit so many names!
There were other deluxe packages that were including a t-shirt, a poster and even a signed guitar by David and something to hang it on the wall! I'll be fine with the acoustic EP and the DVD, yay! Oh and they wouldn't even fit in my whole name to put in the packaging of the EP, LOL. Only put my first name and the first letter of my last name.
LOL. I decided to go to TWoP read the episode thread for tonight and all the comments about David are about, yes, you guessed it, his hair. People don't know what they want. Before he was "baldy", he didn't have enough hair, and now, he has too much? Ha! David can't escape people talking about his hair whatever he does with it.
