Hi David (and your cute nephew Marshall!): Yfrog Video : yfrog.com/b9wv2z - Uploaded by thedavidcook

In that random video on a golf course (he's there for charity), he named the producer for his album: Matt Serletic. Fans don't seem to be jumping of joy, but there's probably a collective sigh of relief that he's not a "pop" producer. He worked with Ryan Star, Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20, Collective Soul and others (Taylor Hicks among them, eeep!): Matt Serletic | Nettwerk. He also kind of looks like a Sears model in his picture, LOL. (Sears? Does that exist in the States?).

We'll have repeat songs tonight, ones they already performed in the season *sigh*. The Fuller picks are not uninteresting, but not incredibly inspired either. Lee's coronation song is called Beautiful Day. Crystal's? Up to the Mountain. No, seriously.

I got the AC into the house, but since I had to get a new refrigerator because the old one **** the bed today, I've been too busy to put in the AC. Aaargh.

alexWTrugs Remember when the Red Sox didn't shave til they won a World Series? I like that Crystal seems to be doing the same thing with bathing.

alexWTrugs Watching a full episode of Idol for the first time this season. Has anyone ever noticed that Lee tends to miss a lot of notes...?

Round 1: Crystal won it hands down.

(Did you notice Ryan did not ask Simon who won the first round this year?)

Round 2: Is this Lee's A-game? This is it? This is all he's got?

Okay, waiting for Crystal...

Simon makes excuses for Lee -- "You're nervous." Oh, go **** yourself, Simon. He's so concerned and sincere when he likes the contestant.

(Sears? Does that exist in the States?).

Oh, yeah. When my mom was a kid she worked at Sears, in Cambridge.

I didn't like this round much. When people can't choose their own songs they don't seem to fit the songs totally. I didn't like Crystal's arrangement. I thought Lee's performance was pitchy.

I cannot believe this is the finals. It's so boring.

The first song by each was their choice of what they sang earlier in the contest.

Round three. Their singles...

Well, this Lee DeWyze person is no Kris Allen or David Cook. Really. Not.

They're going to release covers as singles? I always thought they should (because the songs are superior to a cheesy coronation single), but I thought they should release the song of theirs from the show that they sung best, like, Heartless should have been Kris's single.

Oh, sorry, but this is not good.

The first song by each was their choice of what they sang earlier in the contest.

I meant the second ones. Those were chosen by Simon Fuller, I think.

The keep saying Lee is a great guy and a "class act" and so forth, but I never was overwhelmed by that sort of vibe from him. I'll take their word for it.

Overall I find him somewhat too rough or amateurish; he's uncomfortable onstage. When he can stay on key he's a good singer. But he can't, often.

------------------------------

Crystal: Up To The Mountain.

Wow, who knew that she sings so much like Adam Lambert?

I wish she would just sing simply and not try to wow us with the glory notes. She's really pushing, tonight.

I started watching the show with a delay! Just finished!

Crystal stoled the show for sure. Lee somewhat looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. I really loved his Beautiful Day though. His vocals sounded better on that song than they have in a long time I thought.

SuBo also recorded Up to the Mountain on her album, LOL. It was a good performance from Crystal, but the song is kind of a snoozer.

Will Young? Meh.

Crystal should probably win, but you never know...

Lee is pretty much dominating Dial Idol. I was rooting for him before the show, but Crystal was definitely the best tonight, so I smell huge backlash if he wins.

I still think Casey is better than Lee!!

Lee's first song was good. His other two were tres pitchy, dude.

I wasn't that impressed with Crystal. Again, first song was the best. I didn't think she sounded that good, after that. Sort of strident.

Neither of these people give me the feeling they're singing just to me. I don't feel any emotional connection to them.

I didn't vote. I actually forgot to vote. Should I vote?

I think Casey vs. Lee will always be a matter of preference.

Jim tweeted that Lee and Crystal chose the songs for their single. They probably had a short list, but still, it's cool.

Also, I wish Lee had demonstrated that personality that everyone says he has... even Mr. Personailty Jim said that he had "500X" more personality in the press conference than on the show.

Lee is in the green on DI and Crystal is in the red...

Should I vote?

Do you feel like voting? I think you should vote only if you want to, it's so tedious.

I thought Crystal was the better of the two tonight with the coronation song being the strongest of the night. (Not saying I'd buy it... just that it was the strongest)

SuBo also recorded Up to the Mountain on her album, LOL.

Really? Two covers as coronation songs. I guess they took No Boundaries backlash to heart.

Lee for me just looked anxious onstage. I know that he's got every reason to.. but man, It makes for a tense feeling. (I do like his voice though.. when he hits the notes...

Crystal's Black Velvet was kinda blah too... come to think of it.

I'm putting my points on Crystal. LOL I'd get more points if she wins.. and I don't really care all that much if Lee wins.. :)

Will Young fit right in, he was boring as all hell.

I'm not sure what will happen. If he wins, I don't think he did a whole lot to deserve it. But I don't think there will be a backlash, somehow. One of the reasons is that he has the Simon Cowell seal of approval (and, therefore, the approval of the show). Being Simon's favorite, and then winning, probably would not create any stir. People seem to think Simon is some kind of oracle. If he likes it, it's good. If he doesn't, it's bad. I mean, Kris is still fighting that, and Adam is still benefitting from it. Lee trended on twitter for two days. I doubt he'll get a backlash. Just my opinion, of course.

Anyhow, this year, Simon seems to like them both. He likes Lee more, but there isn't really a negative bias towards the other contestant, as I felt there was last season. So either one winning will probably end up working out.

Nettwerk. They manage Raine Maida don't they?

Really? I didn't know that! I don't know that much about Nettwerk at all though.

About the backlash, if Lee wins, I'm sure it will happen. When it was David vs. David, Simon gave the night to Archie. But A LOT of people disagreed and were angry at Simon, so they went against him. Tonight, Simon pretty much said that Crystal were the best (even if he said once again that he loves Lee as a person), and people (in general) are in agreement that Crystal won the night. So, people are in agreement with what Simon said tonight. I don't think he showed a bias towards Lee tonight at all. He was looking for excuses for Lee, which doesn't necessarily look good, but at the end, I think the judges were pretty much all in agreement that Crystal was the best.

They're actually a really cool company. They've done a lot of inovative things in regards to new media etc. Terry McBride (head of company) is an interesting guy.

Artist Management | Roster | Nettwerk

Yep, Chantal and Raine are with Netterk management. Barenaked Ladies were with them for years but just switched I think recently.
