Wavin' Flag was very good! It was great hearing so many good voices. I hardly recognized anybody, unfortunately. Just Kanaan, Avril, Jully, Jacob, Pierre Bouvier, and the Biebster. Who was the guy Jacob was shaking hands with at the end? He looked very familiar.

I think the tatoo thing was on the level, for some reason.

I wonder what the Kris segment on the View was? Did you hear anything else?

No. Someone mentioned it on the AI thread on the Kalan Porter website. I just know the View correspondent interviewed him at the Elton party. Maybe it would be on the View's website. (It's probably just some short clip.)

So I think I'm over the sadness of last night, and ready to rumble again. Idol is a tough show. We forget that every year, and lament the people that could have been (Alex I bought your singles!! That $0.27 is all yours!) To last til the end on this show is an amazing accomplishment and when you think these are the last 20 or so out of thousands. It's just crazy. This masacre might be what this season needed to get people talking about Idol.. cruel.. but maybe true? (I'd still really love all 4 people back) But we haven't even gotten to the top 10. There is a lot of room for growth still and that's always fun. (please don't let Bow-er-sox get masacred) and this bodes well for me not following the tour.

I don't think it's just about who went home. It's about who's left. Yeah, normally we lament good people who leave, but get over it because there are a decent number of good people still standing. This time, eh. Not really.

I rememeber saying that last year I liked everybody in the Top 13. I wasn't a fan of them all but I liked them all. There wasn't any contestant who I felt I couldn't stand. (That came later. lol) This year, I'm already bored with a lot of them. I don't feel we're going in with a strong group like last year, when we had Danny, Adam, Lil, Matt, Anoop, Allison, Alexis, even Jorge (he tanked unexpectedly). Megan and Scott were at least interesting to have around. Sarver was acceptable. Only Jasmine was kind of wtf?

omg, I left out Kris. Yeah, he was pretty good, too.

So...I don't know. I'll wait and see, I guess.

As for the four eliminated...I don't know if I need all four back. Just Alex and Lilly. Katelyn? I was never wild about her. I guess she's better than Katie or Paige, but they may not last long, anyway. Definitely I think it was Todrick's time to go. In fact, overdue. I'd have kept John Park, for one, before him.

They went with the Truth as a video clip. Nice.

OMG, my heart sank as I read this. I thought the sentence was going to end differently. I thought you were going to say, "They went with The Truth as the next single."

whew.

Going to watch the clip now.

:smile:LLWD played fine, now I'm getting the circle of death on Red Guitar.

I'm not sure I liked the sound of Andrew's guitar part on LLWD. He's doing the whole orchestration on guitar. Because he can. Yet it's a bit ugly sounding. It sounded fine in Bakersfield, though.

Grr. RG is not playing...

ETA: Watched the "Truth" clip. I liked when she said they could listen to him all morning. I think it's funny when people say things like, "He sounded great...for it being acoustic, and early in the morning." Like, why do you need to add those qualifiers? Yeah, I'm picky!! "He sounded great" is enough. Cut!

There are still good singers there, they just have to find themselves a bit. Debra Bird talked about the singers on USAtoday and said a lot of them don't have a lot of experience so they really don't know what they're doing. They might be comparable to CI actually. But they're going to be doing live tv.. trial by fire. I think it might get interesting. Provided of course that Katie doesn't win. :)

He did to me too. I have no idea who he is though. There are lots of folk I don't recognize, lots I do recognize though too. Like Sam Roberts! And Esthero, Emily Haines, Suzie McNeil, Jay Malinowski, Jim Cuddy, Tom Cochrane, Josh Ramsey, Nicki Yanovski (of the I Believe song.. she sounds great on Wavin Flag - gotta give it to her.. she's got a voice on her)

David Cook is performing on Idol next week  Missaddicted you will be happy, happy, happy

YES! I just read his tweet and jumped up and down in front of my computer (I did. Seriously.). At least, it'll give me reason to be excited for next week's Idol shows!

I have no clue what he'll perform though... fandom is going wild. He just came back from Sweden today, they're not going to do a new song, are they? A song from DCTR? Wouldn't really make sense...

Guys, I need your help!!! Where's the best place where I can watch some videos from Kris's last two shows with Andrew? Only saw the MITM from the other day. I've been running around all week. And I've had Slezak's recap and the behind the scene recap opened on my computer all day and didn't even managed to read them yet. Also? Jim's videos with the top 12... didn't even touch them. I watched Idol in 60 seconds during lunch because it was... 60 seconds. And that's approximately the time I had to lunch today. And I still have some work to do tonight. So, help?

I did buy the song the song for Haiti last night... and didn't even have time to listen to it.

TGItheweekend.

Josh Ramsey

Oh, I was going to ask if that was Josh. Sort of hidden behind a mic some of the time? Or was he somebody else. I thought that was him. If so, I'm good because I've hardly ever seen him. Why does the name Jim Cuddy sound so familiar?

I just asked on MJ's headlines thread why Adam is going to be on Nightline. I said I didn't want it to sound like I was jealous or have a case of sour grapes or whatever, because I'm a Kris fan, but it seems so totally gratuitous.

"Talking about his favorite music"? I mean. Lame. Who gives a rat's ass, except his fans? (By that I mean, it's not newsworthy or has no urgency.) This just seems like one of those "His agent has a friend who produces Nightline who owes him a favor" type of gigs. And they always strike me as gratuitous. Honestly, even if it was Kris, in this case, I would feel the same. It would make me uncomfortable. Seems so bogus.

Anyhow, should I prepare for the **** to hit the fan, now? What have I done??

You're not on #teamkatie?

I can't belive Richard Rushfield, someone I more or less think well of, was the originator of Team Katie. He has a tendency to emotionalize everything, though, and sentimentalize. And somehow, doesn't she seem to fit in with that?

Um...okay, I don't actually think there are too many great voices there. I mean, everyone seems like a poor man's somebody-else-from-a-better-season. Except Crystal, who is defintiely a class A singer, but who seems to be walking through everything. If she can't actually deliver a performance, maybe she won't last either.

But I digress. Who do you think are the great singers? I'm meh on all but Crystal, Casey, Didi (I guess), and (possibly) Andrew, right now. I'm outright hostile to Tim, Katie, Paige, and Aaron (nice kid, just don't sing, kid).

missadicted, I'm think I like the sound on the videos from Bakersfield the best (how do you feel about that, SleepinIn?). The ones MJ had on her blog yesterday. The stuff SleepinIn linked to earlier is good, also, though they kept stopping and starting for me.

Why does the name Jim Cuddy sound so familiar?

He's the lead singer for Blue Rodeo. (Don't know if you've ever heard of them.. but Young Artists for Haiti is stretching it a bit for him.. I say that with love - cause I love Jim)

One of my favourite songs. (sort of country.. and I don't care!) lol

YouTube - BLUE RODEO - Five Days In May

But you may know them (or may have just heard of them) From Rex Goudie Singing one of their songs.

and I'm #teamnotkatie

I don't know what sexy Rexie sings because I never saw his season (though I have his CD -- I bought it in the $1.99 bin in Newbury Comics. Still in the wrapper, though.)

BUT I actually have a Blue Rodeo CD. I don't recall why I heard of them, but didn't Drew sing one of their songs on CI? Or Mitch? And I think they won a Juno a year or two ago -- up against Hedley. So I got interested. They're good.

But seriously, I do think the remaining peeps do have singing talent. Even Katie. (which doesn't mean I want to hear them sing necessarily)

But the potential for something good is there. Katie, Aaron.. I'm kinda meh about. I think they're too young.

I've always loved Blue Rodeo. And they are good. From Live Aid :)

LOL - It's a collector's item. Oh Rex... that was not a good season.

This is why Adam is on Nightline (someone answered me on mj's):

Re nightline: they do a series called “playlist” where artists are interviewed about their musical influences. Kelly clarkson and j HUD have both done it. Various other artists have done these interviews as well.

I guess Cook was also on it after he won his season.

Oh, I know who performed Blue Rodeo during season 6... what's his name. The redheaded British guy... Martin?

Martin Kerr. Thanks! It was him. And I loved the song.
