Adam has always seemed like a very nice guy to me, and yes, edgy for Idol. Although Damian (big naked guy) is nice in interviews too... just sort of really crazy on stage.. and possibly off stage. They were actually banned from MTV because they broke a bottle on their head or something and bled on stage, and then wrecked a dressing room the second time, The Polaris was filmed at MTV's studios though.. and they were introduced by MTV news's host. So Damien said they were frisked each time they came in or left the stage. Look some of their stuff up on youtube.. it's kind of insane. lol

Dead Swans...well, it was some kind of coincidence thing, because first I stood behind a couple of them at a convenience store, and then a couple of days later, on a Saturday, I saw them at that ATM. So I figured I'd talk to them. They turned out to be English. And musicians. I was in a hurry, though, so I didn't get to ask them much. Then later that day I was at this farm stand where a couple of my skater friends work, and there's this guy there who is into hardcore music and knows some local bands. And I asked him what he was doing that night, and he said he was hanging out with some of his band friends and an English band called the Dead Swans. So I figured these were the guys I met at the ATM, and described them, and he said that was them.

They were here to record a CD. They're signed to a label around here, even though they're based in England. They play a kind of music influenced by Boston hardcore of about ten years ago. And were recording down the street from where I live. Because the guys I know work with this other guy, they got invited to party with the band, later, and I tagged along. They're pretty cool guys. I actually used to listen to hardcore when I was a kid so I had seen some of the bands they like, so we had something to talk about, though I didn't talk to any of them for long. So, that's all. Kind of a fun thing that happened to me.

I think it was April, actually. I was heavily into Idol and I kept wanting to talk about it, and needing to stop myself. Ha.

Wow, Kris is going to have a lot of competition on the day his CD is released. There's a feature on EW's website about 20 albums to look out for during the fall and on 11/17, there will be new albums by Norah Jones, Leona Lewis, Eminen and John Mayer. That's a lot of big releases! And they don't include Kris on the list. They include Adam though. Heh.

Hm. The Dead Swans released their album in August so I guess Kris is safe from that competition anyhow.

I believe Jason Castro's album is also being released that day. I knew about him and John Mayer. Not the others. Why so many CD's being released on the same day? And how come EW doesn't know Kris's album is dropping that day?

By the way, what was the "fight" between Jim Cantiello and Michael Slezak over Kris's attention yesterday morning in NYC? Guess I missed that.

So many releases are happening on that day (and the week after), because for you in the U.S. it's right before Black Friday, right? Which is a big day for shopping, kind of like our Boxing Day? Also, it's right before the Christmas rush.

I hate to bring up mj's blog again, but, whatever. I was looking at the remarks about Kris's interviews and people seem to think he has bad interview skills. And that he needs to "step up his game" if he wants to create buzz about his album.

First, it's the label and press agents who create buzz for most artists, since most artists aren't necessarily self-promoters. People are paid a lot of money to do this. Kris is concentrating on his music (and his participation in publicity). But he's not supposed to be a strategist.

Interview and people skills. I don't know. Kris managed to get Richard Rushfield, Jim Cantiello, and Michael Slezak in his corner (among others). Hm. How'd he do that? (And you know he's never going to pull the star routine on these people. They'll most likely stay in his corner.)

I think he comes across perfectly on morning radio shows, etc. The idea is to be liked. By as many people as possible (people in the audience, and people in the business. Future contacts). I think he does this better than practically anyone I've ever seen. There are some artists who are nightmares. Their press agents and managers are working overtime to clean up their messes. This guy doesn't do a lot wrong. He's a ninja.

God knows what I was saying. It was late and I'd just watched a whole lot of Polaris. I think I just meant that while Adam is edgy in the Idol crowd -- I don't know how edgy he is in the mainstream. Not a bad thing, just a thing.

That's neat about the Dead Swan's Ross. I'll have to keep an eye out for them on the music blogs I sometimes read.

I think it took place on twitter before the Z100 interview they both said they'd be the first to hug and congratulate Kris. It was pretty funny. Seriously, I love them both for the support they've given to Kris.

Kris's interview skills? Seriously - that would be the last thing I'd worry about. I think everyone who interviews the guy follows him around like a puppy afterward. From Slezak and Jim.. (Alison fans and I think Jim wanted Adam to win) They are gaga for him. That Maxwell guy said on a blog that it was his favourite interview ever. Even Lyndsey Parker who had multiple !!!!! and protestations of wrong doing over Adam's coming in second fell for Kris. (not as hard as Slezak and Cantiello) But she promoted the single.. Kris is a ninja. I have no doubt whatsoever. I think ninja is a great strategy.

Jim is def. the snarkier of the two (he and Slezak). I'm not really a total Cantiello fan, but Slezak, total. Jim is growing on me, though. I don't care, as long as they like K.A.

Just listened to that station in Wisconsin. A girl calling in said she liked the song, the DJ asked if Adam Lambert could sing it as well as Kris. (Idiot.) She said "Umm...nooo." You know, these people better like Kris. Do they know he's a Packers fan? ;-)

Kris' interview skills are really good for a guy that has been in the limelight for such a short time. He's not fake, and is in fact incredibly genuine, which is truly the most important thing, in my opinion. Also, unless an artist or celeb really has horrible interview skills, I can't say that I think about that very much. And I'm not sure people are concerned about that in general. The people who critic Kris' interview skills are just trying to stir the pot. Again, what's new?

I won't see The Script live with David. They might've been interesting, but Ryan Star will be there instead. He was on Rock Star the year that Lukas Rossi won, so I guess SleepinIn is familiar with him. He opened for David for the first leg of the tour and he'll be back for a few shows in October, including the two I am going to. It actually makes me really happy, because I really like his music and him and I've read a lot of good things about him.

So Being Erica just finished. It looks like Sebastian's part is going to be quite big. Although tonight's was just a cameo really. He was good though - I'm excited to see more.

And I actually liked that video of Kalan's better than the actual video they shot. It was a very natural video while the studio video seemed so over produced.

I think so too. Kris is very natural and he's really at ease with everyone. I don't see that as a problem really. The only interviewers that have troubles with Kris are ones that go into the interview with preconceived notions or agendas of their own.

Yeah, Ryan Star - he's really good actually. I think you'll like him missaddicted. He cracked me up sometimes on Rockstar but he's a talented guy - no doubt. It's funny how the Rockstar and Idol peeps are all working together now. Makes sense really, they are networking for themselves.

Re: Ryan and David. At the beginning of the tour, some fans were wondering if it was good for David to have another "reality show" contestant open for him. Now, I'd say that most of the fans love Ryan as well. And him and David are really good friends now. Also, I want this duet (on Ryan's song Breathe) to happen at at least one of the shows I'm going to, K? Thanks. I LOVE it.
