Uh, if the minimum is 4 years as you suggested, and considering it takes longer than that to become a citizen, it would appear that you sir, are the dope.

I think now would be the best time for this because it's such an easy sell.

The only condition would be the ensure a minimum 4 year term, but you would likely have a lot of people willing to stay even if the presidency changed hands back to the democrats.

And it would play to the inconvenient truth that a nation is built on immigration and our borders are always open.

A 5% discount for first time buyers should be sufficient.

What do you guys think?

Why offer this only to Americans? It's as discriminatory as the new BC home purchase tax that applies only to foreign nationals. You want to apply a tax or discount, apply it to everyone or no one.

I have no problem treating citizens and non-citizens differently. Otherwise, what's the benefit of citizenship. As for discounting housing, all it will do is drive up overall pricing.
