Nugg, I don't care anymore. I only get three or four pieces of male a week that I care about.....The rest is junk mail. Everyone I know is on computer and phone so we can't be held up by postal strikes.
Right now the starting salary for a Canadian postman is $23.00 per hour. Presumably as he or she learns, that salary would go up. Lots of people make less.
Since I've been retired since 2003, I'm not sure, but I know the new posties start at a lot less than that. Then they work up to that. Takes a few years and you have to be full time. Guess how many are being made full time these days. Right.
I'm sorta not giving much of a **** these days anyhow. Long as the ol pension keeps coming in. We did pay a monthly stipend for it; twern't free. Believe it or not.
Like I said in another post, it may not be around for very much longer anyway. Going to be hard for the a s s -sitting managers to justify their money when that happens.
Anywho, haters gonna hate. Carry on.
I'm in. Is there a registration sheet somewhere? ;-)
I have had various forms of delivery over the years. Door to door in Langley and Duncan, a group box in Nanaimo and here in Edson, a post office box in Ladysmith and Chemanius, and rural route in Aldergrove and Cloverdale (thats the box at the end of your drive Blackleaf). The PO box wasn't all that bad as those towns are very small and it became a gathering place for us to catch up with friends and neighbors, plus you never had to worry about travelling. Door to door is nice if you have a slot but if you have a hanging box you are always open to theft. I don't mind the group boxes since I have never had to go far to get to mine (yes, even in -40).
The thing with any change to service for me now, in this day of online banking, automatic bill payments, E-transfers and being able to refuse junk mail, is the only things that come in the mail are from the government and I just don't care about those so we generally only go to the box once a week, if that. If they want to stop delivering sh*t from the govt I would actually be grateful.
Yup, we just got, through the mail, an "invitation" to partake in a stats can survey. They will contact us we're told. They always do, and if they're going to charge little old ladies who won't co operate, I guess we will.
EVERYTHING else we do online. Well, almost. Our accountant does our taxes, and he might mail them in. Dunno Don't care.
Life is good.;-)
Door to door was grandfathered 30 years ago.
In what way, Walter. Many many places don't get it.
I've had mail delivered to my mailbox for the last forty years at least. These days my mail is mostly flyers as the bulk of what used to be mail now comes by e-mail. It's nice to get a letter but hell, I can phone just about anyone I know for four cents a minute. A ten minute call is forty cents. If Canada Post gave a sh-t about service it might be different but when a letter accross town takes six days or more to be delivered, who needs it?
you should bundle services. At .04/minute, you're paying far too much. One would think an intelligent guy like yourself would realize that. Course, ex air farce flyer. You got the bucks.;-)
It can't survive in the private sector. The long term employees have no clue how to survive in the real world. It would be like releasing a tame elephant in the wild. The entire organization from Directors on down is entrenched in their entitlements.
Ah Boom. You go from nice guy to ****ing weirdo in the blink of an eye.
Yup, us too. But good ol el banko guarantees us they will pay for any losses due to fraud. Providing we don't give out our PIN numbers, etc
So far they haven't had to.
But, **** can happen.
I'd never use "e.post".............Put your finances in the hands of post office dullards who can't find their a s s with both hands. Not likely.
