The whole media bailout thing was destined to be a can of worms right from the start, Even though a right-leaning outlets like Postmedia applied for and received bailout money it was low hanging fruit for people to paint the whole program as favouring the government of the day.

It's a tricky task to weed out the wheat from the chaff in terms of which outlets are credible news outlets and which are not, and it doesn't take a crystal ball to see that those who fall on the bad side of the line are going to make a lot of noise. That being said, it's no surprise that the Carlsons and Levants would give the program a lot of air time, it's right up the alley for their target audiences, the anger-over-reason types. They live in a populist bubble where they are lead to distrust traditional media sources and fed nationalist and xenophobic messages, they become receptive to conspiracy theories and suspicious of democratic institutions. They become incapable of understanding or even communicating with those outside their bubble.

Lots of big words trying to justify spending taxpayers hard earned dollars to prop up private business interests .

There has been a lot of propping up going on since the start of the pandemic. Legitimate media has suffered doubly since so many have chosen to turn to less credible sources. Money well spent if you ask me.
