No, its not bad to serve your country. My personal beliefs and political views became a conflict with my ability to serve as required and perform my duty effectively so I left honorably before there was any serious issues. Was that a bad thing?
If it were only this simple to just do nothing. I being mostly on the political left, with some
right wing leanings, look at problems the way they are not the way I would like them to be.
Face it we have a commitment to NATO of which we are a member. How would it look to
the world and our enemies, or those who eye us with suspicion, if we as one of the over
all directors of this mission could not exercise our authority in a theatre of battle?
We would eventually have more problems than we have now, as our allies could not depend
on us and our enemies would test us on every front.
Whether we should be there or not is not the issue anymore, the reality is we are there and
we must do our part and we must ensure our forces are equipped in the field. No I do not
always approve of entering into conflict, Iraq for example was a war of revenge but the fight
in Afghanistan is justified. I think we should be the peace keepers in many situations but in
Afghanistan and in Libya, it is justified. My problem in the case of Libya is what took them so
long. The type of conflict requires the need for smart bombs and the price is the price. People
will pay more attention in the future to what we are getting ourselves into, and let their politicians
know what they think. We cannot change the rules once the conflict starts because there is
a price tag.

Take a look at the map, we are not in Central America, we are part of the biggest land mass
on the globe. If we had no defences at all people would come for our oil, water and other
natural resources. Opting out of a military for a nation as big as ours is not an option. A
country must have the ability to defend itself in the world, it is the responsibility of the nation
to defend its citizens. I agree with education and medicare and all the other social services

There is no reason for anybody to invade Canada for our resources. We already gave them most of them away to foreign interests.
How about dropping $130M worth of smart bombs on 'somebody', would that be enough to piss them off?
I see 'we' also managed to sink their 'warships' while still in harbor. totally unplanned that now the food and humanitarian aid ships can no longer reach the actual docks. Doe we get to name the place after we broke it so now we own it deal with NATO. Rez 13 sounds applicable considering what is in store for them.

Where is the Arab League? Why aren't they taking the lead in helping their fellow Muslims. What about Egypt for example? With the billions of dollars we've given their government and the military aid we've provided what are they doing to help? Where is Saudi Arabia, what are the Saudis doing besides selling us oil for $100 a barrel.

Sure, the feuding has gone on for centuries in some of these countries, and both sides have wronged each other, but I don't believe for one second that we are stuck with a paradox.
You want to know what is good and what is evil? Let a document like the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Freedoms be your guide. If you do this, this paradox that seems very real to you, will fade away.

Why the hell would Muslim countries help the western powers bomb other Muslims?
The Arab league did help initially by approving a no fly zone for the western countries, but now they see nothing is being accomplish except mass bombing of citizens and now rethink their approval.
I ask again why the hell would Muslim countries want to be involved in this atrocity? The same reason China and Russia aren't invovled.
